Veteran Tamil Actor Madhan Bob Dies At 71
Popular Tamil film actor Madhan Bob, who entertained film fans through his characteristic laughter and amusing expressions, is no more. He died due to health-related issues on Saturday, a source close to his family said.
He was 71. He has been battling cancer, and he breathed his last at his Adyar residence this evening.
Known by his professional name as Madhan Bob, S Krishnamoorthy was the eighth child in his family. He had shared the screen space along with leading actors like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ajith, Surya, and Vijay.
He had appeared in the popular Sun TV comedy show "Asatha Povathu Yaaru?" as one of the judges. He was a versatile actor and musician.
Some of his notable roles were: Diamond Babu in the film Thenali, and Manager Sundaresan in Friends. Whichever role he performed, his acting skills made the audience burst out laughing.

In commemoration of Guru Aradhana Day and the 75th anniversary of Chinmaya Mission, the Chennai chapter of the organisation presented a distinctive musical and visual interpretation of 'Versification of the Bhagavad Gita in Tamil'. Held at the Chinmaya Heritage Centre in Chetpet, this Sunday evening was a blend of sacred ritual, artistic innovation, and spiritual homage to Swami Chinmayananda's legacy. The programme opened with a traditional puja and the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas, setting a reverent tone. Among the audience were devotees, artists, dignitaries, and members of the Chinmaya Vidyalaya community — including faculty, students, and parents — all gathered to witness the felicitation of the team behind the initiative. Politician Ram Mahadev was also present at the event. Spearheaded by Swami Mitrananda, the Tamil versification was released a week earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gangaikonda Cholapuram. The project was undertaken by a team of seven to eight Tamil language teachers from various branches of Chinmaya Vidyalaya. 'Even I used to chant all the verses earlier during pujas and whenever Swami would recite them,' said Gayathri, one of the Tamil teachers who was part of the team. Stella Rimington, Britain's First Female Spy Chief, dies At 90
London: Stella Rimington, the first female director general of Britain's MI5 security and counter-intelligence service who ushered in an era of greater transparency at the agency, has died aged 90. Rimington, who ran the domestic security agency between 1992 and 1996, was its first head to be publicly named and later wrote a memoir "Open Secret" about her career at the formerly secretive organisation. She went on to write a series of espionage novels and is also widely thought to have inspired actor Judy Dench's tough but playful characterisation of the fictional spymaster 'M' in several James Bond movies. "She died surrounded by her beloved family and dogs and determinedly held on to the life she loved until her last breath," a family statement quoted by local media said. Rimington was given one of the British state's highest honours when she was made a dame in 1996. She joined MI5 in 1969 and worked in roles including counter-subversion and counter-terrorism. Under her leadership MI5 took a more prominent role in Britain's fight against Irish republican militants, according to a profile on the MI5 website.
