FACT14-02-2025
Dubai is home to world-class restaurants, from homegrown concepts to international names. Now, it is set to welcome Ruby Ru by Iris, and we've had a look inside ahead of the opening on Wednesday, 19 February 2025.
The award-winning Addmind Hospitality group is behind Ruby Ru by Iris, which is located on the second floor of Marriott Marquis Dubai, Jewel of the Creek—where old Dubai meets new. The Parisian-inspired cocktail bar channels the effortless elegance of a Montmartre café before bringing Iris's electric energy to its elongated evening programme.

With an entrance framed by arched passageways and flowing textiles, Ruby Ru exudes a chic, laissez-faire charm. Inside, a symphony of rich textures—cool marble, warm wood, and plush fabrics—creates an inviting setting amidst fanning foliage. Yet it's the 180-degree terrace with views of the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Creek, and the stunning skyline capture the attention.
At the heart of the dining experience is a French-Japanese menu that balances indulgence with sophistication. The Octopus Tiradito delivers a delicate interplay of citrus and spice, while the Wagyu Beef Sando is a decadent nod to Tokyo's best sandwich shops. For those with a heartier appetite, the Japanese-style Hot Stone Steak and Whole Sea Bass are designed for slow, lingering meals accompanied by expertly mixed cocktails.
By day, Ruby Ru by Iris is a breezy retreat for leisurely lunches and golden-hour cocktails; by night, it transforms into a café du soir, where the sound of smooth beats sets the tone for an unforgettable evening.
The venue will launch with a lineup of events, including a daily golden-hour ritual from 4pm to 8pm with cocktail pitchers and select drinks at exceptional prices. A Thursday evening ladies' night will offer free-flowing wine and cocktails for AED 120 between 7pm and 11pm. Ruby's Brunch will host a Parisian-style feast from 1pm to 5pm on Saturdays, with signature cocktails, premium drinks, and a lively atmosphere.
Addmind Hospitality's burgeoning portfolio includes Bar Du Port, Bebabel, CLAP, Iris and Sucre. The brand's new openings include Al Mayass By The Sea and Le Relaise de L'Entrecote. Plus, upcoming openings in Dubai include Kira at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab.
Ruby Ru by Iris is open Sunday to Friday from 4pm to 2am and on Saturdays from 1pm to 2am.

Original Birkin bag sells at auction for record $10 million

The original bag custom-made for actress Jane Birkin, which became one of the era-defining designs of the 20th century, was sold in Paris on Thursday for a record 8.6 million euros ($10.04 million), auctioneer Sotheby's said. According to fashion lore, the first Birkin bag was born when the Franco-British actress and singer sat next to Hermes executive Jean-Louis Dumas on a flight in 1984 and told him she needed a stylish yet functional bag as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched out the rectangular handbag, with a dedicated space for baby bottles. The company made that one for her, then started selling smaller versions to the public. The design became a hit and has helped fuel the growth of the fashion brand. Former owner of the original Birkin bag created by Hermès for Jane Birkin, Catherine C, who does not want to release her family name, from France, reacts after the bag was sold at auction. AP Regular Birkin bags sell for more than $10,000. The first one - which has Birkin's J. B. initials on the flap and, unlike its descendants, has a strap that cannot be removed - was bought by a private Japanese buyer over the phone, Sotheby's said. The price was the highest on record for a fashion item, it added. "It was a travel bag. Clearly, it was worn for nine years by Jane Birkin on a daily basis and the form is still very beautiful," Aurelie Vassy, head of the Handbags and Fashion Department at Sotheby's Europe and Middle East, told Reuters. This combination of pictures created on July 09, 2025 shows the 'Birkin' bag by Hermes which belonged to British-French actress and singer Jane Birkin at the Sotheby's auction house in Paris. AFP Birkin auctioned the bag in 1994 to support Sidaction, a French charity that fights HIV/Aids. In 2000, when it went on sale again, a private French collector bought it. When British-born Birkin died in 2023, the French capital's mayor, Anne Hidalgo, said the "most Parisian of the English has left us." Birkin had lived in her adopted France since the late 1960s and was remembered as much for her warmth and campaigning as for her acting and singing, most famously on the hit single "Je t' non plus.' Amina Muaddi brings her signature glam to Paris with a flagship store on Avenue Montaigne

The Amina Muaddi shoe has always demanded attention – now it claims its rightful place at one of fashion's most prestigious addresses. This week, the Jordanian-Romanian designer unveiled her first standalone boutique at 6 Avenue Montaigne, marking a pivotal evolution for a brand that revolutionized footwear through its electric drop model. 'Having a store means having a home, both for our customers and the brand,' Amina Muaddi shared in an exclusive statement. 'We are so excited to connect with our community, to let clients experience the brand not just through product but visually, physically and emotionally. This is only the beginning of a long, new journey within retail, and it's a huge milestone to start from Avenue Montaigne — the dream address for fashion and luxury.' The 1,100-square-foot space, designed in collaboration with Art Recherche Industrie, eschews traditional retail theatrics for immersive sophistication. Undulating aluminum walls cascade like liquid metal, while shoebox-shaped cabinets in glossy burl walnut nod to French and Italian Art Deco influences. The centerpiece—a rotating caramel-pink sofa (the brand's signature hue) beneath sculptural suspension lighting—invites visitors to linger in what feels more like a fashionable salon than a traditional store. To commemorate the opening, Muaddi launched an exclusive capsule collection featuring six reimagined classics. The lineup includes showstoppers like a patent gold Anok slingback and a Jerry sandal adorned with ostrich feathers—each piece exemplifying the brand's signature blend of audacious femininity and impeccable craftsmanship. The pièce de résistance? A limited-edition Ami Clutch embroidered with mismatched crystals, with only six numbered pieces available worldwide. This flagship debut follows Muaddi's successful retail expansion, including a shop-in-shop at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche launched last April, alongside established presences in Harrods and Level Shoes. The brand's momentum continues unabated, having recently unveiled its 2025 cruise collection starring muse Tina Kunakey in May. Even music royalty has taken notice—Beyoncé notably wore custom Muaddi heels during her Cowboy Carter Tour, cementing the label's status as the footwear of choice for fashion's most daring icons. With its Parisian flagship, Amina Muaddi doesn't just open a store—she creates a destination. A place where her vision of modern glamour, equal parts bold and refined, can be experienced in full sensory splendor. As the designer herself notes, this is just the beginning. For a brand that transformed how we think about luxury footwear, Avenue Montaigne is the perfect stage for its next act. – For more on luxury lifestyle, news, fashion and beauty follow Emirates Woman on Facebook and Instagram Images: Supplied & Feature Image: Supplied
