
Tinu Pappachan's next film starts rolling
Best known for his action-driven storytelling, this is Tinu's fourth directorial, following Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil (2018), Ajagajantharam (2021) and Chaaver (2023). His last film received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. Alongside his directorial work, Tinu continues to serve as chief associate director to ace filmmaker and his mentor Lijo Jose Pellissery, including the latter's most recent film, Malaikottai Vaaliban (2024), starring Mohanlal in the lead.
Details about the upcoming film, including its title, genre and release schedule, have not been announced. Additionally, a sequel to Tinu's hit film Ajagajantharam was confirmed earlier last year. The current status of project, headlined by Antony Varghese Pepe, remains unknown.

Jul 01, 2025 09:57 AM IST Director and screenwriter Devadath Shaji rose to fame with penning the screenplay for Mammootty's Bheeshma Parvam, the megastar's first superhit post pandemic. Additionally, he served as an assistant director on the critically-acclaimed Malayalam film, Kumbalangi Nights. The young filmmaker is now making his directorial debut with Dheeran, which will hit the big screen on July 4. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, the director discussed the potential for a prequel to the Amal Neerad film. Additionally, the filmmaker stated that there are currently no plans for a sequel. "It is an Amal Neerad film and features all of his signature style. I have been fortunate to have had the chance to work with him. Therefore, he must be the one to bring up the subject of these characters' revival or the making of a second installment," he continued. According to him, Dheeran is a full-fledged hilarious ride that is focused on an unconventional hero who lives in a small Malayattoor village. The director is also curious about the opinions of viewers after the film's theatrical debut. "What will or won't work with the audience cannot be predicted. I find the beauty of cinema to be its unpredictable nature," he continued. Devadath continued by saying that in addition to the young actors in Dheeran, he was also excited about the chance to collaborate with some of Malayalam's senior actors. Manoj K Jayan, Ashokan, Sudheesh, Jagadish, Vineeth, Siddharth Bharathan, Rajesh Madhavan, and Abhiram Radhakrishnan all play important parts in Dheeran.

Churuli director Lijo Jose rubbishes Joju George's non-payment claims, shares proof
Malayalam director Lijo JoSe Pellissery issued a statement addressing actor Joju George's claims over non-payment of dues for his cameo in 'Churuli'. In a note on Facebook, the filmmaker shared the proof of his payment to Joju George and explained that the film still hasn't been released in theatres because of the A certificate given to it by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC).advertisementWritten in Malayalam, his Facebook post read, "To my dear Joju, this clarification is being issued considering the disappointment caused to our producer friends." He mentioned that the film has an A certificate and still hasn't seen the light of the day, as he attached the proof of the a look: Stating that there is a High Court order against the film regarding its use of explicit dialogue, he also emphasised that none of them associated with 'Churuli' misled Joju George during the film's 'Malaikottai Vaaliban' director also clarified that "I don't remember anyone misleading Joju during the film. Lukman Avaran is garnering praise for his power-packed performance as Antony Joshua in Alappuzha Gymkhana, which is currently available to stream on OTTplay Premium and Sony LIV. The young actor revealed in an exclusive interview with OTTplay that director Tharun Moorthy had called him to play a small part in the Mohanlal-led hit, but that did not pan out because he was getting ready for Khalid Rahman's sports drama. Additionally, Lukman disclosed that he has finished filming a brand-new Malayalam web series that will be available for viewing on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium. "The post-production work of this project is ongoing and hopefully there will be an official announcement soon," he stated, adding that he is currently unable to provide many details about the series.
