Krishnamurthy, known by his stage name Chinni Jayanth, is one of the most popular Tamil stars, known for his comedy roles in 80s films opposite Rajnikanth. However, his parents wanted to him to continue his education as he excelled in academics. After school, he went on to pursue graduation from the College of Engineering, Guindy. Later, he pursued Master's from Ashoka University.
