What is it like on the inside?
We'll start with the obvious: that huge portrait central touchscreen, measuring 10.1in in lower spec models, and 12in in upper spec models. It runs Ford's SYNC 4 operating system, and take it from us, it's an excellent bit of kit; easy on the eye, logical to operate, and smooth functioning. Though we'd be slightly worried about using our mucky paws on it after a hard day's graft.
In front of the driver sits an eight-inch or 10.1in digital instrument cluster depending on the spec, but you get the usual physical switchgear on the steering wheel, and while almost everything is now controlled through said screen, Ford has also used common sense and retained the aircon controls, which are situated directly beneath, plus a few drive mode buttons on the centre console.

More family hauler, less workhorse, then?
Sure, the cabin itself feels a general step up in quality over the previous generation Ranger, with premium materials and soft touch plastic throughout, but the answer to that question really depends on the spec you go for.
Base-spec models are more rugged by nature and don't pack quite the same creature comforts as upper models, with the range getting ever posher as you work your way up. More on that on the Buying tab, but the Wildtrack that we tested certainly felt as though it could be used for family duties with few complaints. The top-spec Platinum almost feels too posh for work purposes with its fancy leather trim.
You sit high, with a commanding view over the road, while the seats are hugely comfortable and plenty supportive. Rear visibility isn't great, but rear sensors and camera are thankfully standard fit. There's more space in the rear compared with the previous generation thanks to the longer wheelbase and wider track too. Any gimmicks of note?
Well, the bed is now plastic-moulded to protect owners' knees (and against scratches), and it's now wide enough to fit a full-size pallet loaded sideways. There's also extra tie-down points to secure loads, dividers to stop timber or toolboxes sliding around, a tailgate that doubles up as a workbench and a lighting system – touchscreen or app controlled – to help you see what you're doing in the dark.

Browsing the spec list also revealed a 'Power to the Box' feature on top-spec models, which allows you to use tools, recharge batteries, or run appliances such as a kettle – because you can never have too much coffee – directly from the load bay. Handy. The power closing load bay cover is also pretty cool, but an expensive way to be lazy at £1,800. Anything I need to know about the hybrid?
The only real differences are a few different displays on the inside, some buttons to control when you want to run on electric only, and a small 31mm ramp in the bed that allows the battery to sit underneath using a modified frame. So yes, there is ever so slightly less space in the back than you'd find in the diesel.
One major bonus though is the addition of Ford's Pro Power Onboard tech. You'll have to tick an option box to get it (although it's free of charge on the top-spec Stormtrak), but it's well worth it with the option of a hefty 6.9kW system that could run a compact cement mixer, an angle grinder and floodlights all at the same time. Impressive. There's also a lighter 2.3 kW system that could run things like a portable fridge or charge e-bikes.

Iconic carmaker recalls over 60,000 motors due to ‘leaking brake fluid' that could spark fire
AN URGENT recall on thousands of motors has been issued by an iconic car manufacturer due to a fire hazard. General Motors has recalled over 62,000 of its trucks due to potential brake fluid to leak and spark fire. 2 2 It is in relation to three models of trucks between the years 2019 to 2024. This includes the Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors warned: "The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit." This means the circuit is at an increased "risk of a fire while driving or parked" if the electrical short overheats. There is subsequently a possibility of an under-hood fire igniting if the vehicle is unattended to turned off. The defect has been linked to a supplier using an unauthorised chemical in the assembly of the brakes, which causes them to degrade over time. However, General Motors suggest only one per cent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the defect. Letters to owners of the vehicles notifying them of the issue can expect to be mailed today, with another to be sent once the fixtures are ready. Owners with the recalled models are advised to park vehicles outside and away from homes or buildings until their they get them checked. General Motors dealers are also providing the necessary repairs and fixtures to the recalled vehicles at no cost. This includes free replacements of the brake pressure switch wire harness. Any customers with further questions are urged to contact GM headquarters, which are located in Detroit, Michigan. This recall comes just months after General Motors also issued a recall of nearly 600,000 of its Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles due to potential engine problems. Manufacturing defects in these vehicles' connecting rod and potentially crankshaft engine components was the cause of the recall in April.

The Capstone can tow up to 9,280 lbs, slightly less than the maximum of 9,520 lbs on the base Sequoia SR5. In our review of the Sequoia Capstone, we found the ride quality to be disappointing and worse than lower-priced Sequoias, due to this model's larger 22-inch wheels. The body-on-frame structure and sold rear axle don't help, either. Four-wheel drive is standard on the Capstone, which is also available with rear air suspension for $1,045. Other Expensive Toyota Models If you are prepared to spend this much, there are a few other expensive Toyota cars priced just below the Sequoia Capstone. Toyota Tundra Capstone: $80,725 Source: Toyota This is the fanciest pickup Toyota makes, and it's priced close to the top Sequoia. The same 437-hp V6 hybrid is used here, but you can tow up to 10,340 lbs in the Tundra Capstone 4×4. It's similarly specified inside, too, but you obviously don't benefit from the Sequoia's extra seating capacity. Toyota Sequoia 1794 Edition: $80,385 Source: Toyota This is the second priciest Sequoia, and it rides on slightly smaller 20-inch alloys. Drawing inspiration from the Lone Star state, the 1794 features real American walnut wood trim and unique leather upholstery. It only misses out on some of the tech features the Sequoia Capstone gets by default, such as the head-up display. Summary: Sequoia Capstone Is Good, But Not Good Enough Spending over $80k on a Toyota will be hard to justify for many, but the Sequoia Capstone backs up its high price with many advanced features, a powerful V6 hybrid, and a comfortable interior. It can also tow a lot and is a decent off-roader. Unfortunately, at over $80k, the Sequoia Capstone falls short in the comfort stakes, both in terms of its choppy ride quality and its lack of third-row space. These issues make it difficult to recommend, especially considering the many excellent rivals in this class, such as the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and even German SUVs like the BMW X7.
