Now, it's all about students' capabilities and online profiles. For any coding job, companies see coding profiles on sites such as LeetCode and CodeChef to assess students' skills by seeing their ratings. He said companies are also looking at global certifications in emerging tech courses to assess candidates' interest in their chosen field. HYDERABAD: Internships are increasingly enabling young people to secure jobs at Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and startups, with many of these organisations adopting a 'try before you hire' approach to assess potential fulltime recruits. According to the latest NASSCOM report, GCCs are employing a rigorous selection process that evaluates not only a candidate's understanding of core programming principles and emerging technologies but also crucial soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Startups, meanwhile, are offering interns the chance to work on real-world projects, allowing them to evaluate candidates more effectively. 'At least 50% of internships are being converted into job offers. In fact, a couple of our students secured packages worth 35 lakh after completing a six-month internship with one of the world's top IT companies,' said J Upendar from the University College of Engineering, Osmania University.
