Why Isn't Robin Roberts on 'GMA'? Here's What She Said About Stepping Away from the News Desk This Week
The longtime co-anchor has been absent from 'Good Morning America' for several daysNEED TO KNOW Robin Roberts has not hosted Good Morning America since Friday, July 26 She and her wife, Amber Laign, announced that they were celebrating a milestone Roberts' GMA return date has not been confirmed, but it is a temporary absenceRobin Roberts is taking some much-deserved time off. This week has looked different for Good Morning America viewers, with the longtime co-anchor missing from behind the news desk. The broadcast journalist veteran has starred on the morning program for over 20 years, sharing the latest headlines and reporting on important moments in history. "Robin is the heart of GMA. She has a special connection to the audience, and all of us," Roberts' co-anchor George Stephanopoulos said in April 2022. Over the years, Roberts has occasionally left the airwaves, most recently when she announced that she was taking time off with her wife Amber Laign. So why exactly is Robin Roberts not on GMA? Here's what to know about her absence and who has been filling in for her while she's been away. When was the last time Robin Roberts was on GMA? Roberts' most recent appearance on GMA was on Thursday, July 24, when she sat alongside her fellow co-host Michael Strahan. At the time, Stephanopoulos was on vacation, and ESPN personality Joe Buck was filling in for him. That same day, Roberts posted an Instagram video, and closed out the clip by announcing that Saturday, July 28, was her and her wife's 20th anniversary of their first date. "Twenty years ... and counting," she said. "So we're going away. We're going abroad, and we're going [to] a place that many have on their bucket list." Why isn't Robin Roberts hosting GMA this week? Roberts is not hosting GMA because she is in Rwanda for a good cause. In an Instagram post from July 27, the co-anchor shared why she was missing from the GMA studio, revealing that she went to Kigali, Rwanda, for a volunteer trip. "We're in #Rwanda as guests of @inmuwetrust_ & @giantsofafrica celebrating young basketball players across Africa. Every last Saturday in the month in Rwanda is a national day of service," she wrote in the caption of a photo featuring her and Laign. The getaway is also a celebration of Roberts and Laign's 20 years together as a couple. The two met on a blind date in July 2005 and married in September 2023. Shortly after, Laign shared a video on Instagram of the volunteer group joyfully dancing. "20 Years, 20 Countries, One Incredible Journey," she wrote in the caption, adding a heart and globe emoji."Robin and I celebrated our 20-year anniversary in a way we'll never forget," Laign continued. "In Rwanda, with Giants of Africa, surrounded by the energy, joy, and spirit of youth from 20 African countries." She ended the caption by writing, "We're beyond grateful to have shared this milestone in such a powerful and uplifting way. Thank you, Giants of Africa, for letting us be part of something so meaningful." Roberts previously told PEOPLE in June 2025 that she and Laign would go to the country to mark the special milestone. "Because we wanted to celebrate that way, because our time together has been an adventure," she explained. "And we thought what better way than to be with the gorillas ... in Rwanda?' Who is replacing Robin Roberts on GMA this week? Rebecca Jarvis has been co-hosting GMA during Roberts' absence. The ABC chief business, economics and technology correspondent has previously filled in for Roberts. When is Robin Roberts returning to GMA? The date of Roberts' return to GMA has not been confirmed, but according to Page Six, she is expected to be back on the morning news program on Aug. 4. The Independent also reported that her return will happen during the first week of August. Read the original article on People

Twilight 's Nikki Reed Has Worn the Same Clothes Every Day for 15 Years
Originally appeared on E! Online Nikki Reed's sustainable fashion journey has been a saga all its own. The Twilight alum revealed her focus on extending the life of her clothes has impacted her style choices and, it seems, nearly eliminated her need to stress over what to wear. 'I wear the same clothes every day,' Nikki said on the July 28 episode of the The Art of Being Well With Dr. Will Cole podcast. 'I've got vintage pants on and they've got a bunch of holes. And if I were to turn around and show you my butt pockets, you would see that my mom helps me patch the back of them because I wear the same pants.' That fashion mindset encompasses her footwear, too. 'I'm wearing my same shoes right now that I've worn for 15 years,' Nikki added. 'I just got them resoled. I resole them every three years, because I wear the same shoes every day.' As she put it, 'We live in a culture of more and more and more. And I don't want more. I want less, but I want good.' The 37-year-old—who shares an 8-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son with husband Ian Somerhalder—also shared the considerations she makes when determining if an addition to her closet is 'good.' More from E! Online Tim McGraw Is Unrecognizable With Jaw-Dropping Hair Transformation James Van Der Beek Shares Difficult Update on Cancer Journey Olympian Laura Dahlmeier Dead at 31 After Climbing Accident Left Rescuers Unable to Reach Her 'I try to keep things for an entire lifetime,' she continued. 'Before I purchase anything at all, I think about where it's made, how it's made, and how long I'm going to wear it.' The BaYou with Love jewelry founder also noted that this focus on sustainability is her 'true passion,' and is actually one of the reasons she and Ian decided to leave their acting careers behind. 'I don't even often hear the word 'Hollywood' or 'actress' anymore at all in my orbit,' Nikki explained. 'It's just been so, so long. I really am a nature gal, an animal gal. I would much rather be barefoot walking through soil than in high heels anywhere.' Indeed, the Thirteen star has made it a point to be open about where the hell she's been, loca. 'I can't personally envision a life without that connection to plants and soil,' Nikki told E! News last May. 'In this day and age, we're getting closer and closer to falling into full tech worlds. No matter how hard we try to shelter our kids from that, we're growing up in the age of tech, and I think the only way to really combat that is through nature.' She added, 'Getting back into the rhythm of the earth and getting our kids outdoors in a world where we're all living indoors, in front of screens and blue light everywhere, we need some red light. We need some sun, we need some fresh air.' Read on for more stars who have left Hollywood for other pursuits.
