Hindustan Times14 hours ago
ChatGPT, the powerful AI-powered chatbot, has gained several new capabilities over the years, and one of the most hyped features is AI image generation. The chatbot utilises the new GPT-4o model to generate or edit AI images based on user prompts. Recently, we also saw ChatGPT's image generation trends like Ghibli-style art, Pixar characters, and baby images getting viral on the internet. While the tool is fun and useful for creative professionals, many are unaware of the right ways to utilise ChatGPT's image generation capabilities. Therefore, we have listed five common mistakes to avoid while editing images using ChatGPT's image generation model. Here are 5 mistakes to avoid while generating or editing images using ChatGPT's image generation tool.(AP)

5 mistakes to avoid while editing images on ChatGPT
ChatGPT's image generation tool is quite intuitive, but sometimes it generates unusual visuals, which can be frustrating. There are several instances when ChatGPT confuses numbers with fingers, analyses texts, or simply generates inconsistent backgrounds that do not look pleasing. While it can be a part of AI hallucination, the user prompt also plays a greater role in AI to analyse and generate the desired images. Therefore, if you want to generate high-quality images with desired animations and greater accuracy, then avoid these 5 listed mistakes when using ChatGPT's image generation tool for photo editing:
1. If you are editing any image, avoid using vague prompts like 'make the background better' or 'make the object cooler.' The best way of image generation is to be specific with prompts. Provide ChatGPT when what changes you want, such as ' Add soft and golden-pink sunset to the background and make it look cinematic.'
2. Make sure to add image resolution, as it gives ChatGPT a better idea. If you are generating images for Instagram, YouTube, or any other social media, then make sure to provide resolutions. Simply add 'Generate a 1200×628 horizontal image' to your prompt.

3. Do not avoid visual elements, as they play a key role in making your image look pleasing. Adding visual cues to prompts such as photorealistic, 3D style, bokeh background, colour tones, and others could refine AI image generation and will also add depth to your image.
4. ChatGPT does not generate celebrity or brand logos or any copyrighted form of image. Therefore, you have to be clever with prompts. Therefore, you have to be imaginative with prompts and avoid giving ChatGPT a direct prompt to any movie scene or celebrity name.
5. Focus on refinements of the AI-generated image by making follow-up prompts, as many tend to avoid minor edits. Play with your imagination, add facial expressions, additional objects, cinematic backgrounds, and others to make the image look visually appealing.

VCs back AI startups to shake up Indian IT services industry

Academy Empower your mind, elevate your skills ETtech A new wave of AI-first startups is catching the attention of top-tier venture capital firms , as they look to back companies reinventing traditional IT services Accel , and Elevation Capital are among the country's top venture capital firms which are scouting for artificial intelligence (AI)-first startups to place early bets, several investors told application development and infrastructure maintenance to software testing and customer support, AI is beginning to fundamentally reshape services that have long relied on large human workforces, they said.'AI is making IT services non-linear and it opens up opportunities for startups to deliver services faster, cheaper and at a higher quality,' said Rajan Anandan, managing director at Peak XV Partners, which has evaluated several companies using AI agents to automate application maintenance, an area where big monies are spent shift isn't about replacing traditional IT services overnight, but rather building leaner, AI-enabled firms from scratch, said the VC executives ET spoke with.'We have created a map of everything IT services companies do and view each line of business as an opportunity for a new AI-native company,' said Anandan, adding that Peak XV is evaluating horizontal startups focused on cross-sector capabilities as well as vertical ones building AI-first solutions for specific industries, such as banking, insurance, healthcare and Venture Partners has already backed two startups focused on automating core IT services. Founder and partner Ritesh Banglani said AI is also disrupting knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) functions such as accounting, wealth management, and legal support.'Our belief is that India holds a special advantage in providing these AI-led services to the world. We know how to scale people-heavy operations and sell services – not just software,' he said. 'Our bet is that tech-first services startups will be able to build distribution faster than the incumbents can build technology. We have already invested in two AI-led services startups this year and look forward to funding several more.'Accel India is also bullish. 'By being able to price for the outcome, AI-first services companies can charge like services but earn like software,' said Anagh Prasad, vice president at the firm. 'Going forward, we'd continue looking for full-stack AI companies, especially in verticals like accounting, legal, insurance, as well as selective late stage services companies undergoing rapid AI to Krishna Mehra, AI partner at Elevation Capital, the transformation of IT and IT-enabled services is already underway and will accelerate in the next few years. 'We expect action across BPO, KPO, knowledge work, and customer support. Winners and losers will significantly change,' Mehra, who is based in the US, said, adding that even legacy IT firms may be targets for buyouts and AI-led investors taking early bets on startups looking to disrupt the nearly $300-billion IT services industry in India, they said the behemoths are not watching this from the had earlier reported that Japanese investor SoftBank is also eyeing buyout deals in India to push AI-led IT, BPO transformation.'Incumbent ITeS majors are hardly sitting out of the AI transition. Most companies are not only helping clients implement AI, they are also using it extensively themselves to improve productivity and speed of delivery,' Banglani investors are looking at backing teams that not only comprise AI talent but also bring domain expertise from IT services companies of dealing with large enterprise customers.A telling sign of the growing adoption of AI at large IT services companies is the widening gap between revenue and headcount growth. According to Nasscom, the industry grew by 5.1% in FY25 from the previous year, while its workforce expanded by just 2.2% – indicating a shift towards more tech-driven, less people-intensive operations.'The entry of AI in this sector would be very disruptive to jobs. There might be a lot of global rebalancing of the workforce but it's not all gloom and doom from a jobs perspective,' Elevation Capital's Mehra said.

Can AI plan your next holiday?

Academy Empower your mind, elevate your skills Idan Zalzberg, CTO, Agoda , told ET that AI will gradually be able to do bigger tasks and become akin to a personalised travel agentA top executive of online travel platform Agoda said we may be seeing some hype around the term 'agentic AI', but the actual evolution we are likely to see is artificial intelligence (AI) gradually being able to do bigger tasks.'It's a bit of a hype-y term, but for me, it's more a fluid evolution,' Idan Zalzberg, chief technology officer of Agoda, told ET while on an India visit last month.'Agentic is just a step in an evolution path where we say, hey, we find out that actually I can have a conversation with an AI, and sometimes it can have a conversation with itself in a loop and get better and better results.'When describing agentic AI , the go-to example for many is the automation of one's holiday plans and reservations. But planning a trip is complicated with a number of dynamic variables--from the timings of hotel room availability to flight cancellations, and more, Zalzberg said. A one-shot prompt is not going to work, he future that he sees is one where AI can collaborate closely with a customer the way a billionaire has a trusted person to plan their travel--someone to whom they can delegate the legwork of travel real value of AI for an online travel platform is that it can sharpen understanding of what customers want, cutting through the vast data to enable better decision-making and alleviating the stress of travel planning, Zalzberg can converse with the customer as well as go back and retrieve more relevant information from the hotels, for instance, he however, said that as AI learns to do more, the risks get bigger as well.'The bigger the task, there's more places where you can go off, and how do you make sure that all the decisions are right?' Zalzburg said. 'We have a lot of travel, so we need to get it right not one time, we need to get it right all the time, and that is where the challenge is with GenAI, because it's unpredictable, because sometimes it hallucinates.'The Singapore-headquartered company, which competes globally with players like Airbnb and Expedia, competes locally in India with the likes of company looks to localise for India as much as possible – across languages, messaging channels, payment options, and more – while maintaining its advantage as a company with global connections, Zalzberg is a growing market and consumers here expect more from digital applications, making it a conducive place to test out new things, he has built about 150 GenAI projects internally and externally, in areas like supply, customer support, content generation and productivity tools across the board, said Zalzberg. Automation in the company has increased two times over the past year and the impact on efficiency is worth 'lots of millions of dollars', he said.

This is an industry defining moment: WNS CEO

Bengaluru: In an exclusive interview with TOI, WNS Group CEO Keshav Murugesh discusses how Capgemini's acquisition of WNS is a move to prepare for a future that requires combining business process understanding with new-age technologies, allowing outsourcers to address a far larger portion of clients' businesses. How do you see the synergies playing out in this deal, especially with all the changes AI is bringing to the tech space? Both companies are approaching this from a long-term perspective. This strategic combination is about accelerating our business in the direction the market is likely to head in the coming years. This isn't just about what we're doing today — it's about anticipating where the market is going in the era of GenAI, and the integration of technology and operations, which we're referring to as intelligent operations. Long-term, companies that build a joint strategy now are better positioned to capture the larger addressable market — something Aiman and I have both discussed regularly. According to most analysts, the global business services (GBS) market is only 30% penetrated. That leaves a 70% white space. With the rise of AI and generative AI, the combination of domain expertise, digital capability, and data — essentially the convergence of technology and operations — is exactly what clients want from their strategic partners. Instead of building these capabilities internally, clients are looking to external partners who can drive these outcomes. WNS brings deep domain process expertise and strong presence in the US and UK. Capgemini adds capabilities in technology — including IT, AI, data analytics, and consulting — along with financial scale and a strong footprint in Europe. Importantly, we're doing this from a position of strength to serve the industry's needs over the next 5 to 10 years. Are those lines blurring? This kind of combination allows us to compete for much larger deals. With AI and agentic AI, we're seeing the potential to manage a client's entire end-to-end value chain. This combination brings together deep domain expertise and the ability to deliver superior technology and AI solutions. While our GBS business is currently larger, combining it with Capgemini's consulting, tech, and AI capabilities creates massive growth potential. This truly is an industry-defining moment. The deal is valued at $3.3 billion, excluding debt. How will the debt component be handled? It's all embedded in the capitalised cost. The offer includes a 27% premium over the 30-day average and a 28% premium over the 90-day average. It also exceeds the 52-week is a highly positive outcome for our shareholders. For employees, it's equally promising. Subject to deal approval, they will have the opportunity to work in a much larger enterprise with a strong track record of successful acquisitions, including Igate, and Syniti. Many of Capgemini's current senior leaders came through acquisitions, which speaks volumes about the opportunity this presents for WNS talent. Given WNS is listed in the US, will there be a delisting? Will WNS continue as a brand? WNS will be merged into Capgemini, and our business will become part of their global business services unit. WNS shares will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange. We still need shareholder approval, and we'll also go through the regulatory approval process in various countries, including antitrust clearances. Capgemini has indicated in their release that the expected timeline is by the end of this year. With automation disrupting many lower and mid-level BPM processes, is this deal a response to deeper challenges facing the industry? Not at all. In fact, the total addressable market is expanding due to these new technologies. Many companies still manage their own back and middle office functions, and increasingly, even front office processes. These can now be handled more efficiently by process players who understand partnership takes a leadership position in blending technology and business processes. So, this is not a response to a crisis. It's a forward-looking move, designed to capitalise on growth and long-term opportunity. How much progress have you made in agentic AI? What implementations are underway? Agentic AI is one of the critical tools shaping the future of business. The scale of investment required is significant. Capgemini has already committed nearly €900 million to GenAI-related projects. They're investing heavily in AI technologies and have trained over 35,000 people. At WNS, AI and automation are part of our core offering — it's essential for staying relevant, improving productivity, and driving growth. The power of this partnership lies in combining our strengths. AI, GenAI, and agentic AI will be managed more effectively together than either of us could do alone.
