KUWAIT: Moroccan Ambassador to Kuwait Ali Ibn Issa reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic relations between Morocco and Kuwait, emphasizing the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood that unite the two nations and their leadership. Speaking during a reception held by the Moroccan Embassy on Wednesday evening to mark the Morocco's Throne Day, the ambassador highlighted the wide scope of cooperation between the two countries, spanning various sectors. Ambassador Ibn Issa noted that while several bilateral agreements have already been signed, there remains a pressing need to activate and implement them more effectively. 'We are currently working with various Kuwaiti institutions, and I thank the officials here for their support and responsiveness as we aim to elevate bilateral relations to even greater heights,' he said. He expressed satisfaction with the growing interest from Kuwaiti travelers and noted that the increase in Kuwait Airways flights to Morocco—now up to four per week—is a clear indication of the destination's rising popularity. Trade on the rise Regarding investment ties, Ambassador Ibn Issa said Kuwaiti investments in Morocco have spanned many years and continue to be active today. He emphasized Morocco's ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure and improve its business climate to attract further investment, particularly from Arab nations, with Kuwait being a key partner. 'There are many encouraging factors that make Morocco an attractive destination for Kuwaiti investors, both from the public and private sectors,' he added. The ambassador concluded his remarks by pointing to the growth in trade between the two countries. While he did not cite updated figures, he confirmed that commercial exchange is on an upward trend and expressed optimism about further expansion in the near future.

KUWAIT CITY, July 31: Moroccan Ambassador to Kuwait Ali Ben Issa has affirmed that the presence of Minister of Social, Childhood and Family Affairs Dr. Amthal Al- Huwailah at the Moroccan Throne Day celebration 'is an embodiment of the good and strong relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Kuwait.' In a press statement during the Moroccan Embassy's celebration of the 26th anniversary of the accession of King Mohammed VI to the throne, Issa asserted that relations between the two countries are historic, covering all aspects of cooperation and friendship between the brotherly peoples and leaders of the two countries. He underscored the need for these strong relations 'to raise the level of economic, trade and investment cooperation to the level of political relations.' He clarified that there are existing agreements between the two countries and ongoing cooperation, but they need to be activated. He added, 'We are working hard in this regard, in coordination with various Kuwaiti institutions.' Talking about tourism, he revealed that the Kingdom of Morocco has achieved very good results in attracting tourists. He said 17.5 million tourists visited Morocco last year, including 23,000 Kuwaiti tourists, compared to the previous number of around 16,000 or 17,000. He stated that the increase in the number of Kuwait Airways flights to Morocco to four per week is evidence of the high demand for this destination. On investments, he emphasized that Kuwaiti investments in Morocco have existed for a long time and continue to exist. He confirmed that Morocco is keen on renovating its structures to attract more investments, especially from Arab countries and Kuwait in particular. He added, 'There are conditions that encourage Kuwaiti investors from the public and private sectors to invest in Morocco, and trade exchange continues to grow. European Commission sets Oct. 12 '25 to launch new Entry/Exit System
BRUSSELS, July 30 (KUNA) -- The European Commission announced on Wednesday that October 12, 2025 has been set as the official launch date for the progressive implementation of the European Union's new Entry/Exit System (EES), a move aimed at strengthening external border security and modernizing the management of traveler movements. EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner said in a press release, "the Entry/Exit System is a key tool to improve how we manage our external borders," adding that it will help "track who enters and leaves the European Union, identify overstayers, prevent irregular movements, and reduce document and identity fraud." He explained that the system would be rolled out gradually over a period of six months, allowing EU Member States, travelers, and businesses enough time to adapt to the new procedures. The Entry/Exit System is an advanced technological platform that will register the entry and exit of non-EU nationals visiting 29 European countries, including Schengen-associated states, for short stays. The system will collect biometric data, such as fingerprints and facial images, along with travel details, gradually replacing the current practice of passport stamping. According to the statement, the system will provide reliable data on border crossings, help detect cases of overstaying, and address attempts at identity fraud, thereby enhancing the security of EU citizens. It will also facilitate smoother travel through increased use of automated border controls, while ensuring the highest standards of data privacy and protection. The system will be introduced gradually starting on October 12, 2025, with border authorities in Member States progressively registering the data of third-country nationals crossing EU borders. Full deployment is expected by the end of the six-month implementation phase. The Commission, in coordination with the European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems (EU-LISA), will continue to work closely with Member States in the coming months to ensure a smooth and effective rollout of the new system. The Entry/Exit System is part of the EU's broader Smart Borders package, which also includes the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) and the expanded use of Automated Border Control (ABC) systems. Together, these initiatives aim to enhance border management and ensure a safer, more efficient, and convenient travel experience. (end)
