Legendary Rocker and Toby Keith's Widow Honor Late Singer With 'Beautiful' Gesture
Country star died in February 2024 at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer. A few weeks ago, a giant party that included a golf outing and a rockin' performance was held in his honor.
Sammy Hagar, the legendary Van Halen frontman, and Keith's widow, Tricia Lucus Covel (Covel was Keith's given surname), hosted the 21st annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic in Norman, Oklahoma. Keith was obviously the host himself prior to his death, so this marks the second year they held the event without Keith.
In 2024, they held a silent auction full of country stars' donated memorabilia in order to benefit the Toby Keith Foundation OK Kids Korral — Keith was from Oklahoma and an avid Sooners fan.For 2025, Hagar both hosted and performed, and Keith's official Instagram announced that they raised over $1.4 million for the Kids Korral this year.
"Toby would be proud!" reads the Instagram post.
In the comments, one fan wrote, "So beautiful… I miss him so much, especially when something patriotic comes up. I'm going, what would Toby do about this? He was awesome and I really miss him."
Another fan added, "So proud of Toby's widow and her ability to carry on with her hubby's dream!! Kudos to Tricia!"
"This is so awesome!!! Toby would be so proud!!!!" wrote a third fan.Keith and Hagar were known friends, dating back to Keith being one of the stars who attended and performed at Hagar's 60th birthday bash back in 2007 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Keith was survived by his wife, Tricia, of 40 years, and their three children — daughter Shelley, 45, whom Keith adopted when he married Tricia, daughter Krystal, 39, who is a fellow country artist, and son Stelen, 28. He also had two grandchildren, Krystal's children Kirby and Hensley.

Revered '90s Rockers Are Winning Raves for Surprising String of Performances
Revered '90s Rockers Are Winning Raves for Surprising String of Performances originally appeared on Parade. It's safe to say that acclaimed rock band Weezer has some of the most opinionated fans in the music world. The group's devoted followers even inspired a now-classic Saturday Night Live skit featuring Matt Damon and Leslie Jones arguing about their career trajectory ("Real Weezer fans know they haven't had a good album since Pinkerton!"). So it goes without saying that Weezer's recent string of shows would trigger some very passionate reactions, especially considering the fact that they've been catering to their longtime listeners by busting out their biggest tunes. An Instagram post this week from Indie Mixtape highlighted several clips from Weezer's latest live shows, featuring performances of such beloved songs as "Island in the Sun" and "Beverly Hills" from last weekend's Glastonbury Festival (plus songs from Pinkpop 2025 in the Netherlands last week and Coachella in April). As the caption noted, "the band has been filling fans with musical nostalgia at many of their recent shows, displaying how many great songs they really have." Fans in the comments agreed that the band has been in fighting form as of late, with one writing, "Their set here in Stockholm last week was great. Hit after hit, stage banter in Swedish, tight and perfect length." "I've seen weezer almost 4 times now and they are very good, amazing songs back to back each time!" agreed a second person. Other Weezer fans took the opportunity to call out their personal faves. "I'm glad they're including The Good Life more into their setlists. Just as much as a banger as Buddy Holly," someone argued, with another noting, "I totally forgot about pork and beans!" In a 2024 interview with Men's Health, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo reflected on the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album (often referred to as 'the Blue Album"), admitting he finds it "really weird" that the record has remained so relevant to listeners. 'When we were coming up in L.A., we couldn't get a buzz going because the clubs were 21 and up," he recalled. "The music we were making didn't resonate with adults," Cuomo continued, adding, "It wasn't until our songs were on the radio and the record came out that kids started hearing it — like, literally kids. 10 year olds. And for some reason, that record (and maybe Weezer in general) have just always resonated with younger people. It's never gotten much respect from the old guard, or at least from people of our generation.'Revered '90s Rockers Are Winning Raves for Surprising String of Performances first appeared on Parade on Jul 1, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 1, 2025, where it first appeared.

Donald Trump's Surprisingly Heartfelt Tribute to 'Music Genius' Brian Wilson
Donald Trump's Surprisingly Heartfelt Tribute to 'Music Genius' Brian Wilson originally appeared on Parade. The unexpected passing of a music legend like Brian Wilson has a way of affecting people on both sides of partisan politics. As proof of this fact, President Donald Trump has issued a statement addressing Wilson's death yesterday, calling the Beach Boys founder a "true music legend" in an emotional social media post. After news of Wilson's death sent shock waves through the internet yesterday, Trump took to Truth Social to reflect on the passing of the influential '60s rock star on Thursday morning, as reported by Newsweek. "Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys was a true Musical genius, right up there with the greatest, EVER," Trump said on the social media platform. "While Brian is no longer with us, his music will live on forever. Warmest condolences to his family, friends and, so importantly, his fantastic legion of FANS!!!" Nowadays, Wilson is often credited as the creative driving force behind the Beach Boys, a band he formed with his brothers Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love and their close friend Al Jardine in 1961. Drawing on their angelic vocal harmonies, the Beach Boys reinvented the art of surf rock music, as reflected by their numerous ocean-oriented hits like "Surfin' U.S.A." and "Kokomo." As the music industry shifted increasingly towards hard rock and psychedelic music by the mid 1960s, Wilson spearheaded the Beach Boys' effort towards increasingly unorthodox music -- a passion project that would come to fruition with 1966's landmark Pet Sounds. Typically named one of the greatest rock albums of all time, it's also been repeatedly credited among the most influential musical projects ever recorded. Plagued by mental health issues throughout his life, Wilson's creative output began to wane by the late 1960s. He remained sporadically active as a musician until 2022, until his passing on June 11 at 82-years-old. Oasis Is Set for Reunion Gig After Years of Feuding
They have waited almost 16 years for this moment, and they can't believe it's about to happen. Dressed in bucket hats, Adidas tracksuits and other '90s looks, a crowd began gathering on Friday afternoon at the 75,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, to witness one of the unlikeliest reunions in rock music. Oasis is back. At least for two hours. Around 8:15 p.m. here (3:15 p.m. Eastern), Noel and Liam Gallagher, the stars of the band whose anthemic hits include 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger,' are scheduled to swagger onstage, putting aside over a decade of brotherly war. The show will kick-start a 41-date sold-out world tour that includes two dates this summer at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. If the brothers don't fall out first. The band formed in Manchester, England, in 1991, and the Gallagher brothers bickered from the start — like many siblings do. But these two were in the pressure-cooker environment of one of the world's most famous rock bands. Their fights are well documented. Liam once threw a tambourine at Noel, and Noel hit Liam in the head with a cricket bat. In 1995, a 14-minute recording of the brothers swearing at each other during an interview reached No. 52 on the British charts. In that exchange, Noel said the pair argued 'hourly,' although Liam said that tension was 'why we'll be the best band in the world.' The fraternal drama added some extra spice as Oasis became one of the most popular rock acts of the 1990s. And in Britain, it was a generational phenomenon, akin to the Beatles in the '60s or the Sex Pistols in the '70s. Since its 1994 debut single, 'Supersonic,' critics saw the group as one of the bands defining the sound of Britpop. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
