Light rain in Gurgaon keeps humidity in check, more in store this week
It was 29 degrees Celsius on Friday.
Despite the rain, the day was partly cloudy. The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.7 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the previous day's 35.2 degrees Celsius. Humidity level was recorded at 44 percent.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said there will be light to moderate rain across the state for the next five days, with heavy showers expected on Monday and Tuesday.
Rain, although uneven across the city, brought some relief from the heat.

Gurgaon received 30mm of rainfall. Sohna received the highest rainfall (92mm). Other areas, such as Wazirabad (32mm), Kadipur, and Harsaru (28mm each), experienced moderate showers, while Badshapur (10mm) and Manesar (2mm) received lighter rainfall. Pataudi and Farrukhnagar recorded no rainfall.
According to IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough is running south of its normal position, while the eastern end is aligned near its normal position.
Additionally, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Punjab and adjoining Haryana in the lower troposphere. A Western disturbance, observed as a cyclonic circulation over Jammu and Kashmir and its neighbourhood, is also influencing weather patterns in the region.
For Sunday, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers.

IMD's forecast suggests the upcoming shift in the monsoon axis will pull in more moisture-laden winds into Delhi-NCR. Isolated heavy spells are expected on both July 28 and 29. Meanwhile in Delhi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature, however, stood at 28.8 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 26-28 degrees Celsius.

Weather Office Predicts Thunderstorms With Rain In Delhi Today
New Delhi: The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, two notches above the season's average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Light showers were reported in parts of the city early morning, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above normal, it added. More rains are expected today, according to weather forecasts. In an X post, Mahesh Palawat, Vice-President of private weather forecasting agency Skymet, wrote, "Delhi, get ready to be drenched in monsoon showers on July 28 and 29. The LPA (low pressure area) will move south of Delhi over the northeast." The IMD has forecast thunderstorms with rain on Monday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures predicted to hover around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively. Relative humidity was recorded at 59 per cent at 5.30 pm on Sunday. The air quality was in the 'satisfactory' category with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 87 at 4 pm, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor', and 401 to 500 'severe'.

Expect a rainy end to month
New Delhi: The Delhi-NCR region is expected to witness rain in the remaining days of July due to an approaching low-pressure system. Though the India Meteorological Department has not issued any colour-coded warnings, it has predicted light to moderate precipitation in the capital from Monday to Wednesday, followed by scattered light showers on Thursday. "The well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh is moving towards east Rajasthan and weakened into a low-pressure area. It will change direction towards the northeast and will reach northeast Rajasthan and adjoining north Madhya Pradesh by Monday. Excess of monsoon trough will also be just south of Delhi. The Western disturbance is over Jammu Kashmir," said Mahesh Palawat, vice-president at Skymet Meteorology. Due to the combination of these systems, heavy to very heavy rain is expected over Uttarakhand and western districts of UP, northeast Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh. "Delhi and parts of Haryana may also get moderate showers on Monday and Tuesday," said Palawat. The high mercury along with high humidity continued to cause discomfort. The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.5 degrees Celsius. However, relative humidity oscillated between 59% and 87%. The Heat Index (HI) or 'feel like temperature' was recorded at 48.3 degrees Celsius at 5.30pm. The minimum temperature, however, stood at 28.8 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 26-28 degrees Celsius.
