Rajesh Khanna's last wish remained unfulfilled; When 64 suitcases were discovered at Ashirwad post his death; Read in details
Rajesh Khanna
, spent his final days not basking in fame but in quiet solitude. Despite a career filled with applause, his last moments revealed a man deeply introspective.
He was heartbroken over dreams that never saw the light of day.
Lonely in stardom: The man behind the icon
As revealed in Gautam Chintamani's biography 'Dark Star: The Loneliness of Being
Rajesh
Khanna', his inner world was far removed from the glitter of stardom. One of the most haunting discoveries after his death in 2012 was the presence of 64 unopened suitcases at his iconic Mumbai home, Aashirwaad , each filled with gifts he had collected during foreign trips, meant for friends and loved ones, but never delivered.
A complicated marriage; A silent, unspoken bond
His marriage to actress
Dimple Kapadia
was another chapter filled with both love and turbulence. He was married in 1973, when Dimple was just 16. The couple's relationship quickly frayed. All of it happened due to the weight of fame, personal struggles, and Rajesh Khanna's emotional volatility. They separated in the 1980s but never divorced. Despite the distance, Dimple stood by him during his final days, caring for him as he battled a long-term illness, reportedly cancer.
Aashirwaad was his temple; A museum that never happened
One of the greatest regrets of Rajesh Khanna's life, as revealed by his late-life partner Anita Advani, was that he could never fulfill his dream of turning his beloved bungalow Aashirwaad into a museum. Offers of Rs 150 crore didn't change his mind. The house wasn't just real estate. It was a symbol of his legacy, his heart.
Sadly, that dream died with him. The house was eventually demolished, leaving behind only memories and what-ifs.
'Aashirwad' was just a piece of land for Rajesh Khanna's family: Anita Advani

Veteran Actor Prem Chopra Praises Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, Calls It 'Fantastic'
Last Updated: In a recent video message, Prem Chopra expressed his love for both the film and Aamir's choice Veteran actor Prem Chopra has praised Aamir Khan's latest film Sitaare Zameen Par and called it 'absolutely fantastic". He also lauded the superstar for his courage and creative vision. In a recent video message, Prem Chopra expressed his love for both the film and Aamir's choice to tackle such a unique subject. Taking to their Instagram stories, Aamir Khan Productions shared Prem Chopra's video, 'Aamir just saw Sitaare Zameen Par and I am so much proud of you. Absolutely fantastic. Nobody could have the guts to make a film like this. And the voice and the sound on Youtube is so superb. The whole thing we could see so clearly and understand it. … I wish all the best. Take care and god bless you Aamir. You are great guy." Days after Aamir Khan's latest film Sitaare Zameen Par was released on YouTube with a pay-per-view option, it was reported that Apple device users can access it only after paying Rs 179. However, Aamir Khan has now clarified that the issue is due to a glitch and that his team is working to resolve it on an immediate basis. While Aamir Khan is not on social media, his production house, Aamir Khan productions, recently took to its official X handle and clarified on the issue. 'Our sincere apologies. We just became aware that the cost to rent our film Sitaare Zameen Par is reflecting as ₹179 on Apple devices. We are trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding," it wrote. Aamir Khan has sparked a conversation around cinema affordability with the YouTube release of his much-anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par. Recently, the actor-producer expressed concern over the rising cost of moviegoing and shared his vision to make films more accessible to the masses through his official YouTube channel. The investment in them was very high, so the prices of tickets and eatables also increased. Just like when you go to a five-star hotel, the same things that you'd get elsewhere for a much lower price cost a lot more there because it offers many more facilities and a five-star environment." He added, 'Similarly, multiplexes have now become quite elite. Unless you have a certain level of economic earnings, you simply can't afford to go there." Made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, along with 10 rising stars. The lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The screenplay is written By Divy Nidhi Sharma. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with Ravi Bhagchandka as the producer. First Published: August 05, 2025, 15:38 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Mahavatar Narsimha Box Office Day 11: Ashwin Kumar's Film Crosses Rs 100 Crore-Mark
Last Updated: Ashwin Kumar's Mahavatar Narsimha has entered the Rs 100 crore club, surpassing Kesari 2 and Jaat. Produced by Hombale Films, it's India's top-grossing animated film. Mahavatar Narsimha Movie Box Office Collections: Ashwin Kumar's Mahavatar Narsimha is on a dream run at the box office and it's not slowing down anytime soon! The mythological animated feature has officially entered the Rs 100 crore club in India, making it one of the biggest surprise blockbusters of the year. On its 11th day, the film has comfortably crossed the Rs 100 crore nett mark, holding its ground despite tough competition and weekday dips. More impressively, Mahavatar Narsimha has left behind some of Bollywood's big-budget releases this year, including Kesari 2 (Rs 94.48 crore) and Jaat (Rs 90.34 crore). The film, which is India's biggest animated release so far, picked up momentum over its first weekend and has only grown stronger with each passing day. By the end of its second Monday, it had collected around Rs 99.25 crore. As Tuesday began, it officially crossed the Rs 100 crore benchmark, making it a certified blockbuster. In its first week alone, Mahavatar Narsimha earned Rs 44.75 crore. The second weekend brought even bigger numbers with Rs 7.7 crore on Friday, Rs 15.4 crore on Saturday, and a massive Rs 23.4 crore on Sunday. Even Monday held steady with Rs 8 crore, bringing the total to just under Rs 100 crore before crossing it on Tuesday morning. This animated film's performance is even more impressive because it has outdone several big-star Bollywood films, all thanks to its strong storytelling, mythological appeal, and visual quality that has connected with both kids and adults alike. The film was also released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, expanding its reach beyond its original Telugu version. Produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha has rewritten the record books, overtaking international hits like Spider-Man, The Incredibles, and Kung Fu Panda to become the highest-grossing animated film in India. The film follows the popular mythological Hindu legend involving Narsimha, the fourth divine avatar of Lord Vishnu, who was part-man, part-lion creature. God is invoked by Bhakt Prahlad, one of His biggest devotees, as the boy's uncle, Hiranyakashyap, tries to kill him. It is believed that Narsimha appeared from inside a pillar to assassinate King Hiranyakashyap. Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the screenplay is penned by Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh. Presented in five Indian languages, Mahavatar Narsimha has been edited by Kleem Productions and produced by Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai. The film retells the iconic story of Prahlad Maharaj, a young devotee of Lord Vishnu, whose unwavering faith ultimately led to the manifestation of the powerful Narasimha avatar to defeat tyranny.
