Minister Narayana Continues Singapore Visit to Study Amaravati Development
On Thursday, Minister Narayana, accompanied by CRDA Commissioner Kannababu, held discussions with representatives of Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA). The talks centred on establishing efficient road and public transport systems in Amaravati, drawing inspiration from Singapore's advanced infrastructure. The LTA is responsible for the development of public transport, as well as walking and cycling infrastructure in the city-state.
The delegation also toured the JTC Poultry Processing Hub, Singapore's first integrated facility for poultry processing. The unit handles everything from live chicken processing to packaging and delivery, and also produces by-products from chicken waste. Minister Narayana noted that the Andhra Pradesh government, under the Disha initiative, plans to establish similar scientifically managed poultry waste processing units in the state.
This visit follows the high-profile mission led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, which began on 26 July. CM Naidu, along with ministers Nara Lokesh, TG Bharat, P. Narayana and senior officials, visited Singapore to promote 'Brand AP' and attract foreign investment.
During the visit, the delegation met the President of Singapore and held talks with top business leaders, CEOs and industrialists. The discussions highlighted Andhra Pradesh's resources, industrial policies, incentives, and land availability. CM Naidu also extended invitations to potential investors for a global conference scheduled in Visakhapatnam this November.
CM Naidu concluded his Singapore visit and returned to Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, while Minister Narayana's team continues their engagements in the city.

AP aims to achieve legacy waste free status by year end through effective waste management
Vijayawada: Stating that the effective treatment of solid and liquid waste by urban local bodies (ULBs) plays a key role in achieving better sanitation, municipal administration and urban development (MAUD) minister P Narayana emphasised the need for proper treatment of solid and liquid waste in municipalities and municipal corporations to secure better and top ranks in the Swachh Survekshan Ranking Leagues. Participating as the chief guest at the one-day state-level workshop on information, education and communication (IEC) and capacity building organised by Swachh Andhra Corporation here on Monday, Narayana reaffirmed the state govt's commitment to transform AP into a Legacy Waste Free state by the end of 2025 by completely processing the 85 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste left behind by the previous YSRCP govt along with the 20 lakh metric tonnes of freshly generated legacy waste in ULBs in the state. "Andhra Pradesh is on track to process and clear all 85 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste by October 2, 2025, and the processing of freshly generated remaining 20 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste would be completed by December," Narayana stated while addressing the workshop. On the occasion, Narayana announced that the govt will initiate works on the establishment of six new Waste to Energy plants at Rajamahendravaram, Nellore, Kadapa, Kurnool, Tirupati, and Vijayawada in addition to the existing Guntur and Visakhapatnam plants for 100% processing of the waste generated in the state. Narayana further stressed the need to bring complete behavioural change among the citizens by taking up sensitisation activities to promote sanitation management practices in the state. MAUD Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar, CDMA Director Sampat Kumar, Swachh Andhra Pradesh Corporation Chairman Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, and others were present.

Artificial Intelligence in Tirumala darshan: a contentious debate unfolds
The remarks made by former Chief Secretary L. V. Subramanyam regarding the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the darshan process of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala have ignited an intriguing debate among employees. During his recent visit to the hill temple, Mr. Subramanyam, who also served as the Executive Officer of the TTD, expressed his reservations about implementing AI in the darshan process, urging the management to drop the idea which he opined was difficult to ground. Conversely, the incumbent TTD Board, led by Chairman B.R. Naidu, is resolute in its pursuit to mitigate waiting times, aiming to facilitate devotees' darshan within a mere hour or two. To achieve this objective, the Board is engaged in substantive deliberations with prominent IT conglomerates, including Google and TCS. Mr. Subramanyam underscored that past Trust boards and EOs had similarly explored the feasibility of expediting darshan through advanced technology, but were ultimately compelled to drop these endeavors owing to inherent structural constraints within the temple. Senior officials concurred with Mr. Subramanyam's assessment, illustrating that previous administrators who toyed with several options like installing a moving carpet within the sanctum sanctorum or devising 'Netra Dwaralu' were forced to abandon these ideas owing to structural limitations and adherence to Agama sastras, respectively. However, another section of employees has voiced support for Mr. Naidu's proposal, positing that exploring AI-driven solutions to alleviate prolonged waiting hours is a laudable pursuit. They argue that even if the management does not succeed in its primary objective, it may still yield innovative methods to substantially reduce waiting times. Mr. Naidu also rebuked Mr. Subramanyam for his remarks, deeming them unsolicited and unjustifiable in light of the global trend towards AI adoption. He emphasized that the proposal aims not only to curtail waiting hours but also to provide pilgrims with advance information of their darshan timing so as to enable to plan other temple visits in the district more effectively.

Andhra to become waste-free by Dec 2025, says Municipal Minister Narayana
Andhra Pradesh Municipal Minister P Narayana on Monday said that the state will become waste-free by December 2025. Nearly 20 lakh tonne of newly accumulated waste and 85 lakh tonne left by the previous government will be cleared by October and December respectively, he said while addressing a press conference. Instructing the Municipal commissioners to prioritise solid and liquid waste management, he said clean city goals require public awareness and cooperation. At present, the daily waste is transported to Visakhapatnam and Guntur waste-to-energy plants, with new plants coming up in Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore, Rajahmundry and Tirupati, the minister said. Sewage treatment plants will be completed within two years, and drinking water pipelines under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme will also be expedited, Narayana said. The minister blamed the previous YSRCP government for allegedly halting Amaravati development plans.
