Rare coin collector shows 50p piece 'worth fortune' – and it's not Kew Gardens
Have you checked your rare coin collection recently?
If the answer is a big fat no, then now's a great time to start scrambling through your stash. Certain designs could be worth double their value, while others might even see you pocket hundreds, or thousands – if you're really lucky.
Now over on TikTok, account @uk.coin.hunt, which boasts 473,300 followers, revealed the 50p pieces "worth a lot of money" and it could be hiding away in your collection without you even realising it.
In a video, which scooped just over 700 likes, a voiceover can be heard explaining: "These Shield 50ps are worth a lot of money! So let's talk about why they're worth that kind of money.
"First of all, you've got the NIFC the years that include 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2018 and 2021. And then you've got the rarest and lowest minted Shields in circulation which is 2017, but that's not really expensive.
"But NIFC means none of these went into circulation so they're pulled from BUNC sets, proof sets." NIFC 50p coins often refer to the change which were not intended for general circulation and are typically found in sets produced by The Royal Mint for collectors.
Examples include the Royal Shield 50p coins from 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2018, and 2021. Which in this case, the TikTok account owns, but certain ones are worth a lot more as they're a proof version.
The user added: "I've got 2011 Shields, the 2009 and 2010, so this one is a proof as you can see. And these are worth a lot of money as you can see, I've only ever found 2010 and 2018 in my change before so literally it looks like a normal 50p.
"People might spend it as they don't really look for dates and might not know about them. But these sell for £40-£80 each, depending on the condition but obviously the brand new ones will just go for a tiny bit less because of the quality of them."
Finding a rare coin can be quite exciting, but before anything else, you must do some research to identify the change and its potential value. After, you should consult a professional or reputable coin dealer for an appraisal.
Consider getting the coin graded by a reputable service to also authenticate its condition and value. Finally, decide whether to sell it at auction or add it to a collection.

People have been pronouncing Moet wrong their whole lives
Moët & Chandon is one of the world's largest champagne producers, and although they produce over 28 million bottles every year, there's still a big debate about how to pronounce the name Moët & Chandon, also known simply as Moët, is one of the most famous drinks in the world. It's one of the world's largest champagne producers, and was established in 1743 by Claude Moët. The company produces around 28 million bottles every year, and people love its dry, crisp taste and rich history. However, despite its popularity, it seems many Champagne lovers have been pronouncing the name of the brand wrong this whole time. Sinem, also known as The Sinfluencer, who posts online about mum life, shopping, travel and make up, recently shared the revelation on TikTok. In a post where her husband Ralph, who is from the Netherlands, featured, they discussed the correct pronounciation of the sparkling beverage. They were asked by one of her 223k followers: "Could you both clear up the debate on how to pronounce Moët please?" Sinem explained: "Years ago a lot of us wanted to sound posh, or be posh, and go 'Mo-way'. Could I have a glass of Mo-way? and then it changed and people started to say Mo-wett." However, Ralph, who Sinem has previously referred to as a wine expert, said: "It has never changed. There's only one right way of saying it. Mo-wett et Chandon." Contrary to popular belief, there is no silent 't' in the name. The confusion arises because many words in French drop the t. However, in French the general rule doesn't apply to nouns such as names and Places. Myreille Pawliez, senior lecturer in French at Victoria University, told Vinepair: "Proper nouns in French, which include names of people and places, don't follow the general rule and because there are so many exceptions it can get confusing. In this case it is two proper names put together (Moët et Chandon) and you just have to know how to pronounce them." To confuse matters further, although Moët himself was born in France in 1683, his name isn't French - it's Dutch - a language where the 't' is pronounced. Ralph's theory as to why many people say 'Mo-way' is because it "sounds more fancy", and when asked who started saying it like that, he joked: "The Brits." Taking to the comments section, one person explained further: "Because everyone assumes it is a full French name - if it was, Moët would be pronounced without the t - but Moët is a Dutch name and Chandon is French." Another clarified: "You pronounce the T because Moet was Dutch … it had two dots over the 'e' … I went to a function hosted by Moet & Chandon. I've been pronouncing it with the T for 35 years and had to buck the raised eyebrows and ignore the ignorant … thanks for highlighting the correct pronunciation. I'm now not the only one." However, not everyone knew the correct pronunciation. One person said: "Aww love that thank you so much for clearing that one up, I knew you were the best people to ask." While another simply said: "That's fascinating thank you!"

X Factor star unrecognisable as he shares personal update
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info X Factor sensation Eoghan Quigg is barely recognisable from his stint on the hit ITV show back in 2008. The vocalist, who reached the semi-finals of The X Factor impressing the likes of Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl, has since carved out a niche for himself on TikTok, sharing glimpses of his family life. After finishing third behind JLS and Alexandra Burke, and even vying for a spot to represent Ireland at Eurovision in 2014, Eoghan, now 32, sports a new look and is a father to two kids. He recently shared to his 31,000 followers that he's tied the knot with his partner Amy with a second celebration. The pair first exchanged vows in Las Vegas earlier this year, shortly after Eoghan popped the question during a holiday. Teasing his followers with a snippet of his proposal in Central Park, he followed up with footage outside The Little White Chapel in Vegas, captioning it "So we've been keeping a little secret What happens in Vegas," reports the Mirror. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon 8 Cancel Play now Amy was the picture of elegance in a chic white minidress, complete with a veil and bouquet, while Eoghan later matched her in a white tux for their "home wedding". Fans were quick to shower the couple with love, with one replying "Congrats guys you both look amazing hope you had a fantastic day," prompting Eoghan to respond that it indeed was the "best day". Another fan chimed in with warm wishes, saying "Aww Brilliant ! Congratulations to you both." When another person inquired if Eoghan and Amy had a "home wedding", he verified that they were commemorating their union in Vegas alongside family and friends back in Derry. (Image: Eoghan Quigg/TikTok) The couple, who have two children together, have been in a relationship since 2015. Their family expanded with the arrival of their daughter Emmy Belle in 2021 and son Camden in 2023. Amy also has two children from a previous relationship. On his TikTok account, Eoghan has shared updates on his hair transplant journey, as well as nostalgic clips from his time on the X Factor. In a recent interview, he looked back on his journey, which began when he auditioned for The X Factor at 15. He considers himself "one of the lucky ones", having had a positive experience on the show. (Image: Eoghan Quigg/TikTok) However, Eoghan is adamant that he wouldn't want his children to pursue a similar path. Speaking to Belfast Live, he expressed his concerns: "I wouldn't want my children to do it, it's tough and there is so much more social media about now. "I just think nowadays kids see so much on internet and there is a lot of pressures to look a certain way. "There wasn't as much negativity around when I was on the show." He continued: "I had to quickly learn not everyone is going to like you, you have to just live with it and get on with it. (Image: TikTok/Eoghan Quigg) "I grew up really quickly, I was just a kid in school that came from a normal, working-class family. It went from 0-100, my world was turned upside down. "But everyone back home was really supportive and I think 99.9% of teenagers would rather be on the X-Factor than studying for their GCSEs. "I never had any anxiety, I really had the right people around me and after the show I had a great tour manager." After The X Factor, Eoghan had a short stint as a footballer, and released his first album in 2009. He also made TV appearances on Dani's House, Alan Carr: Chatty Man and Harry Hill's TV Burp.
