Drishyam narrates the story of Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, who are suspected after the Inspector General of Police's son is killed
Drishyam 3, the third instalment of the hit mystery thriller franchise, has been generating buzz among the fans ever since its official announcement. The shooting for both versions, Malayalam featuring Mohanlal and Hindi starring Ajay Devgn, will be held simultaneously, starting from October 2025. As the project steadily moves towards the production stage, director Jeetu Joseph recently admitted that he prevented the Hindi version from being made ahead of the Malayalam film.
During a conversation with Mathrubhumi, Jeethu shared that there had been conversations about starting both versions at the same time. However, the makers of the Hindi rendition were instructed to keep off.
'There were requests to make the Malayalam and Hindi versions together, but we have not made any final judgements on those topics. There were early plans to begin with the Hindi version, but when it was suggested that this could be dealt with legally, they backed off," he explained.
Furthermore, Jeethu, who is directing Drishyam 3 with Mohanlal, said that the Malayalam script is still being finalised. The film is likely to begin production around October this year.
Recently, during an appearance at a college, Jeethu gave a big update on Drishyam 3 saying, 'I finished writing the climax of Drishyam 3 last night. I've been under immense pressure for a long time."
Talking about the film, Drishyam narrates the story of Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, who are suspected after the Inspector General of Police's son is killed. The first film was released in 2013, and the second in 2021. The success of Drishyam prompted remakes in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The film's captivating narrative, moral complexity and powerful performances captivated viewers, driving it to success and serving as a pattern for remakes in different Indian languages.
The Hindi version features Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran in the leads. The first instalment was helmed by Nishikant Kamat, while director-producer Abhishek Pathak came on board for the second instalment after Kamat's demise in 2020. Pathak will also be helming Driysham 3 (Hindi) with Ajay.
Coming back to Jeethu, he also has projects like Mirage, Valathu Vashathe Kallan and Ram: Part 1 in his kitty.

Too Dangerous After 9 PM? French Cities Bar Teens From Going Outside Because Of This Reason

Several French cities imposed night curfews on minors due to rising drug-related violence. Several cities across France imposed night-time curfews on minors following a surge in drug-related violence as authorities warned of a worsening security crisis that is increasingly targeting vulnerable youth. The city of Nîmes became the latest to enforce a curfew on under-16s between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM after a string of violent incidents including daylight shootings and the discovery of a partially burned body of a 19-year-old on the city's outskirts last week. City's mayor Jean-Paul Fournier called the situation 'untenable", accusing drug traffickers of creating a 'climate of fear and terror." He announced additional police deployments to enforce the curfew and restore order, saying, 'We must prevent minors from being exposed to violence. The aim is to contain tensions and protect children who are either uninvolved or being exploited by criminal networks." Other French Cities Follow Suit In Beziers, a curfew has been in place since last year, initially targeting those under 13 and later expanded to under-15s in select areas. Mayor Robert Menard defended the move, saying, 'No 10-year-old out on the street at 2:00 AM is up to anything but mischief." In Limoges, where a summer curfew is in place for children under 13, Mayor Emile Roger Lombertie said the results have been disappointing, acknowledging, 'We had disturbances by young people and the curfew was useless." According to France' Interior Ministry, 110 people have died and more than 300 have been injured in drug-related violence in 2024 alone. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin and Justice Minister Bruno Retailleau have led a national crackdown that includes creation of two maximum-security prisons for high-profile traffickers, a new branch of the prosecutor's office focused on narcotics and expanded powers for investigators and protections for informants. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Women Dancing On Kanwar Truck Get ‘Shameful And Disgusting' Comments From Internet

Last Updated: A video showing women dancing on a Kanwar Yatra truck has sparked outrage for allegedly disrespecting the sanctity of the pilgrimage. A video has gone viral showing two women dancing on a decorated truck during the Kanwar Yatra. The incident has drawn strong criticism on social media. The clip, whose exact location is unknown, shows a group of Kanwariyas, devotees of Lord Shiva, standing atop a moving truck while crossing what appears to be a flyover. What caught everyone's attention was the two women dancing to loud DJ music in front of a cheering crowd of male devotees. The truck, brightly decorated with lights and large speakers, looked more like a stage for entertainment than part of a religious procession. Over the video, a note in Hindi reads 'ये कैसे भक्त हैं (which roughly translates to 'What kind of devotees are these'), reflecting the outrage of many viewers. The caption to the video states – 'Kanwariyas enjoying raunchy dance and music while on their way to 'pilgrimage". So much sanskaar." Kanwariyas enjoying raunchy dance and music while on their way to 'pilgrimage". So much sanskaar. — Dr Aratrika Ganguly (@aratrika_g08) July 21, 2025 The clip was shared on July 21 on X and has received over tonnes of views so far. Many internet users have slammed the act, calling it disrespectful to the spirit of the Kanwar Yatra. Some people feel that the pilgrimage is being turned into a public spectacle, losing its spiritual meaning. A user said, 'Shameful and disgusting to say the least!" 'Shameless fellows," someone else wrote. 'So blessed to be born in the south of India. Thank God we won't do such things in the name of religion," an individual stated. As of now, there has been no official statement from authorities about the video. However, there is growing public demand for action to be taken, with many asking for better regulation to prevent such incidents in the future. What is the Kanwar Yatra? The Kanwar Yatra is a yearly pilgrimage where Lord Shiva devotees, known as Kanwariyas, collect holy water from the Ganga River—usually on foot—and offer it at Shiva temples in their hometowns. The tradition is rooted in devotion, simplicity and penance. But in recent years, many participants have started using trucks, loudspeakers and even DJs, leading to debates about whether these changes are harming the spiritual essence of the holy yatra. view comments First Published: July 22, 2025, 19:13 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
