'There are a couple of players that have been with us since our very first season that are fan favourites and notable, one of which is Jackie Urbaez. He's a utility player, but he is a very big fan favourite and he's already signed for this season,' GM Martin Boyce says.

'The other one is Grant Larson. He's a pitcher and he is from San Diego, but he is going to be a permanent resident of Canada soon and living in the area.'

Urbaez, a 27-year-old from Miami, holds the distinction of a couple of firsts for the Titans: first player to hit a grand slam (in 2023) and first player to hit three home runs in a single game (in 2022).

Larson, 27, was named a league all-star in both of the past two seasons. In 2024, he had a complete-game, four-hit, 13-strikeout victory against the New Jersey Jackals.

'Lots of stuff,' GM Martin Boyce says. 'We still have the standard baseball food like hot dogs and hamburgers and fries and that sort of thing. But we have a very unique Latin food vendor that operates here called Mr. Senor, which provides authentic Mexican-style cuisine. We have Lois 'n' Frima's ice cream and various desserts, and everything else that you can think of in terms of nachos, poutine and all the standard stuff you can expect: cotton candy for kids; popcorn; all those sorts of things.

'And then we have a good selection of local craft beers from local partners that we work with to highlight the local businesses in Ottawa.'

World champion Spain routs Portugal 5-0 in their Euro 2025 opener
BERN (AP) — Esther González scored twice and world champion Spain delivered a statement of intent by routing Portugal 5-0 in their Women's European Championship opener on Thursday. The 32-year-old González became the oldest player to score for Spain, minutes before 18-year-old Vicky López became the youngest. Spain captain Alexia Putellas also scored for La Roja, showing she's ready to lead the team to success after missing Euro 2022 with a knee injury. Spain lost to eventual winner England in the quarterfinals of that tournament. 'We've been talking about how motivated we are for this (Euro) for so long, and now we had to show it. We have reason to be pleased,' Putellas told Spanish broadcaster TVE. Substitute Cristina Martin-Prieto completed the scoring with a header in stoppage time. González wasted little time before opening the scoring after 87 seconds with a flick past Inês Pereira. It quickly became apparent the Portugal goalkeeper would have a busy game. She did. Pereira did well to clear a cross but was unable to stop Mariona Caldentey giving López a tap-in minutes later. Only 24 minutes were played when the fans started a Mexican wave around the nearly 30,000-capacity Wankdorf Stadium, normally home to Swiss Super League team Young Boys. The club also has a women's team, which is also called Young Boys. Spain dominated possession in a textbook first-half display. Teammates' work off the ball ensured there was always a passing option. No player had the ball for long as it zipped around and the Portuguese players were left to chase it. Putellas went close, Pereira denied Clàudia Pina, and it was no surprise when Putellas finally got the third goal after she displayed some brilliant control to evade a defender in the 41st. The fourth came two minutes later when González tucked in the rebound after Pina's cross came back off the post. But Spain coach Montse Tomé may have concerns about her team's second-half performance as her players' level of control dropped. Martin-Prieto's late goal was the only addition. Spain didn't need Aitana Bonmatí. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner stayed on the substitutes bench until going on for López in the 81st. Bonmatí had been a doubt for the tournament after being hospitalized for viral meningitis last week. Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. 'She's a very important player for us and we're happy she's back with us after recovering from her illness,' Putellas said of Bonmatí. 'Now we hope she can get back quickly to top playing form.' The game was preceded by a moment's silence for Portugal and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, killed in a car crash with his brother the night before. Italy defeated Belgium 1-0 in the other Group B game earlier. Spain plays Belgium next on Monday. ___ AP soccer:

Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. arrested by ICE for deportation, federal officials say
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Famed Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. has been arrested for overstaying his visa and lying on a green card application and will be deported to Mexico, where he faces organized crime charges, U.S. federal officials said Thursday. The arrest comes only days after the former middleweight champion lost a match against influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Anaheim, California. The Department of Homeland Security said officials determined Chávez should be arrested on June 27, a day before the fight. It was unclear why they waited to act for days after the high-profile event.

Raúl Jiménez's goal sends Mexico to 12th CONCACAF Gold Cup final with 1-0 win over Honduras
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Raúl Jiménez scored in the 50th minute off an assist from 16-year-old Gilberto Mora and Mexico advanced to its 12th CONCACAF Gold Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Honduras on Wednesday night. El Tri advanced to play the United States in the final Sunday night in Houston for the eighth meeting in the title game between the two countries with Mexico owning a 5-2 edge. Mexico has won nine Gold Cups, the U.S. seven and Canada one. Mexico broke through early in the second half on a play started by Alexis Vega with a pass to Mora near the top of the box. Mora slid a pass to Jiménez, who beat Edrick Menjívar with a right-footed shot for his 42nd career international goal. No. 17 ranked Mexico appeared to add to that lead a few minutes later when Edson Álvarez tapped in a goal off a set piece but that was negated when video review ruled he was offside. But El Tri managed to hold onto that lead as 75th ranked Honduras was unable to generate an equalizer. Honduras reached this stage for the first time since 2013 despite losing the opener of the tournament 6-0 to Canada. The Hondurans haven't made the final since the inaugural tournament in 1991 when they lost in penalty kicks to the U.S. There were few good chances in the first half with Mexican goalie Luis Malagón making an easy save on Dixon Ramírez's shot from outside the box after not facing any shots on goal the past two games. Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. El Tri's had two good opportunities late in the half. Johan Vásquez's shot in the box deflected off Honduran defender Denil Maldonado and right into the hands of goalie Menjívar. Menjívar then made a sharp save against Marcel Ruíz in the 42nd minute and Julián Martínez cleared the rebound out of danger. There was a chippy moment in the 11th minute when a ball was played into the Mexico bench area. Romell Quioto aggressively tried to get the ball for Honduras and Mexican reserve Guillermo Ochoa took exception, leading to players on both teams getting heated and a yellow card for Ochoa. ___ AP soccer:
