UPSC CSE 2024 Toppers: After failing in his first attempt, Delhi's Aakash Garg bags AIR 5
UPSC CSE 2024 Results: While he failed to crack the civil services exam prelims in his first attempt, Delhi 's Aakash Garg has shown an example of determination by not just qualifying UPSC CSE 2024 but also grabbing an All India Rank (AIR) 5. Graduated in 2022 in Computer Science Engineering, Aakash has been preparing for the exam since then. He opted for Sociology as an optional subject for UPSC prelims and focused on static portion, current affairs, and read newspapers regularly.
'For CSE prelims, I solved as many mock questions as possible, including CSAT. I focused on answer writing and covering my optional subject well for the UPSC Mains followed by rigorous CA assessment for the final stage,' said Aakash.
Garg used standard UPSC books like NCERT, Indian Polity – M Laxmikanth, Indian Economy by Nitin Singhania, Introduction to the Constitution of India by DD Basu, Geography of India by Majid Husain, among others. These basic books, along with reading daily newspapers and test papers, helped the 24-year-old to crack the exam. Being a morning person, Garg used to study 6-7 hours daily and work on completing daily targets. He used to spend evenings binge-watching or engaging with his friends.
In his preparation, he also used artificial intelligence in later stages of the exam to refine and structure answers and get new perspectives especially for CSE Mains essay, however, he had to fact check the claims made by AI models as information shared was sometimes incorrect.
When asked how his skills and knowledge of computer science engineering will help in development of the area he want to serve, he said, 'It will help in giving him a perspective regarding emerging role of technology like data driven decision making, simulations etc.'
Further, he shared some tips for UPSC aspirants who will appear for UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 on May 25. Observing that the difficulty level of the exam has been increasing, he advised aspirants to solve questions to find weak spots and avoid committing silly mistakes. He also emphasised to take CSAT seriously.

CBSE begins preparing students for board exams
Advt Advt Schools have begun to orient students for next year's board exams on the basis of sample papers and marking schemes which has been recently released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the academic session 2025–26. According to the official CBSE circular, there has been no change in the exam pattern or marking scheme from the previous academic year (2024–25).This year, the CBSE released the sample papers earlier than usual, providing students more time to familiarise themselves with the structure of the upcoming exams. Alongside the sample papers, the marking schemes were also made available on the board's official website: Shekhar, academic coordinator at Oxford Public School, said, "These resources aim not only to aid exam preparation but also to strengthen classroom learning and conceptual understanding. CBSE has encouraged schools to integrate the sample papers into regular teaching practices."According to the circular, the sample papers cover all subjects, with most provided in both English and Hindi (excluding language-specific papers). The board examinations for both classes will be conducted in Feb 2026, with general instructions, section-wise distribution, and maximum marks clearly defined in the sample documents."CBSE's sample papers guide students preparing for competitive exams. It fully incorporates NCERT content. It's like a roadmap that guides our preparation and boosts our confidence for the board exams."

Speaking about her educational qualifications, Tripti Bhatt completed her early schooling at Beersheba Senior Secondary School in Almora. Furthermore, she finished her Class 12th from Kendriya Vidyalaya. After completing her engineering degree from Pantnagar University, Tripti worked as an Assistant Manager for the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). According to the media reports, Tripti Bhatt received job offers from esteemed organizations like ISRO and Maruti, among many others. However, her dreams lay elsewhere. She was determined to serve the country in a more meaningful way, so she decided to take the Civil Services examination. While she was working at NTPC, she was preparing for the UPSC exam. It is said that before she cracked the UPSC Test, she rejected as many as 16 offers of government posts — clearly a reflection of her solid credentials and directed focus. Among those offers was that from ISRO, but Tripti never wavered in her aspiration to join the civil services drafter and took a purposeful tack to the work. When Tripti Bhatt was in the 9th grade, she met the late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and she received a handwritten note from him — filled with the most positive words of encouragement — which made a lasting impression on her young life. That moment ignited a strong measure of purpose in her and a significant source of inspiration that influenced her commitment to serve the nation by serving in public service. In her first attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2013, Tripti Bhatt achieved an impressive 165th rank, choosing the Indian Police Service (IPS) as her career path. She was assigned to her home cadre and began her service as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Dehradun. After her tenure there, she took on the role of SP in Chamoli before being appointed as the Commander of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in Tehri Garhwal. Currently, Tripti Bhatt serves as SP Intelligence and Security in Dehradun, playing a crucial role in maintaining state security and intelligence operations.
