The D'Amore Drop: Welcome to pro-wrestling's biggest weekend since WrestleMania
The D'Amore Drop is a weekly guest column on Uncrowned written by Scott D'Amore, the Canadian professional wrestling promoter, executive producer, trainer and former wrestler best known for his long-standing role with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, where he served as head of creative. D'Amore is the current owner of leading Canadian promotion Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.
This weekend is pro-wrestling's biggest since WrestleMania 41 in April.

Saturday is headlined by the biggest show on AEW's calendar: All In. We went over what a home run this is for AEW last week — today, let's focus on the matches.
As a promoter/booker, you dream of the times where everything just clicks. Everything in AEW is clicking right now.
The main event is a Texas Death Match for the AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Adam Page. We know this is going to be a violent, personal, emotionally-loaded match.
Some people have been critical of Moxley's title run, saying the Death Riders have outlived their usefulness. Well, ratings and attendance have gone up during Mox's reign as champ. If you're going to blame the world champ when things go down, you have to credit him when things goes well.

With that said, it is time for Hangman to complete his redemption arc and regain the title.
WWE presents its latest mid-year edition of "Saturday Night's Main Event," just hours after AEW's big event (how'd that happen?), with the headliner being 58-year-old Bill Goldberg's retirement match against WWE World Champion Gunther.
A lot of people are asking if Gunther can carry Bill to a good match. That's not a fair question — and it isn't the right one.
What fans want is simple: That knock on the door, that music to hit, the smoke, the fireworks, Goldberg punching the air on the way to the ring, the spear, the Jackhammer — and a near-fall.
They just want the chance to believe in Goldberg one last time. Don't we all want that — just one more time seeing our heroes as we remember them?
That's what WWE aims to deliver on Saturday.
Some fans argue WWE has telegraphed that Goldberg is losing, because he's not getting the belt in his last match, especially with WWE establishing that wrestlers 'Jon Jonesing' the heavyweight title 'ruins' things.
Even if that was the case, sometimes the result is not as important as delivering the moment.
Also on "Saturday Night's Main Event": LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins in the co-main event.
It's a big spot for LA Knight — well earned. He's incredibly over and super talented. Some people compare him to The Rock, others to Stone Cold. If you're compared to both, you're doing something right.
Meanwhile, Rollins is having one of the best — maybe the best — in-ring years of his career. He had the best match on Day 1 of WrestleMania 41 with his triple threat against CM Punk and Roman Reigns. And he's followed that up with banger after banger.
His match with Penta this week on "WWE Raw" was just a perfect TV match — everything you'd want from weekly wrestling.
Sometimes it takes a while for even a top hand to find their footing in a new environment, but Mercedes Moné now looks like an AEW superstar and not 'Sasha Banks from WWE.'
However, to me, this is the — ahem — 'time' for Toni Storm to retain her Women's Championship and then circle back to this feud a little down the road.
Saturday's biggest match in terms of pure wrestling is, of course, Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega. This is the fifth match in a series that not only is one of the very best in the sport's history, but a massive reason AEW even exists.
Okada and AEW took some criticism about how Okada was used early on in his AEW run, and some of that was fair, but there's no question that since linking up with Don Callis, Okada is on fire.
If I had the pencil — and I don't — I'd have Okada go over, 100%. He needs the win way more than Kenny does. He's just starting to really hit top gear in AEW, in part because he's been paired with a heat machine like Callis.
Okada losing would put him at 1-3-1 against Kenny in singles matches.
I'd have Okada draw level in the series. Maybe I'd lean into the idea that Kenny's been off hurt, maybe plant the idea he's not quite what he was, give him something to prove to the fans and himself.

Then do another rematch in September or even early next year when Kenny Omega proves the old adage from Toby Keith, 'I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.'
Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega's rivalry goes back to their NJPW days.

That's all this weekend. Last weekend was a huge one for my new promotion, Maple Leaf Pro.
It's hard to call our July 5 event in Montreal anything but a smashing success.
Montreal is a wrestling city with deep roots, but it's also fiercely competitive. There's always a lot going on every weekend and you have to fight to sell every ticket.
On the same night we ran our show, the CFL's Montreal Alouettes drew 21,000 fans, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were in town, and one of North America's biggest Comic-Cons was happening a few blocks away.
And yet — in a market we'd never touched before — we still drew 2,800 fans. That's an incredible statement about what we're building with MLP.
This promotion is just 10 months old. We don't have a TV deal or national distribution. What we do have is a passionate crew, a growing digital footprint … and a roster of talent that's second to none.
And in Montreal, we had a secret weapon: PCO.
Carl Ouellet, 57, is a Montreal legend, and he and his team put in the old-school hustle — boots on pavement, posters on walls, shaking hands and filling seats the hard way.
And then, as advertised, PCO had a wild, unforgettable main event against Dan Maff with AEW's Billy Gunn as special guest referee.
The spot PCO did — at his age and after three decades in the business — through the table was as legit of a 'Holy s***!' moment as I've seen all year. And Maff underlined that he also absolutely belongs in a main-event spotlight.
The show itself was our best yet.
We even had a surprise reunion of AEW's Dark Order with Stu Grayson and the unexpected return of Evil Uno.
That moment was so cool to give the fans — those guys haven't teamed in years. Then we added another layer of fun with TNA's Santino Marella making a one-night-only appearance as MLP's Director of Authority. That whole segment, with AEW, TNA and MLP talent all sharing the ring, was a great example of the kind of cross-promotion and fan-first moments we love delivering.
NWA Champion Thom Latimer is criminally underrated. His match at MLP last week against Matt Cardona was as good as anything you'll see on WWE or AEW week to week.
Shotzi Blackheart hit free agency like a ton of bricks — already appearing on MLW and then having a great match against MLP Women's Canadian Champ Giselle Shaw.
Similarly, hot new free agent Ace Austin reminded — as if anyone should need reminding — what a massive talent he is against Josh Alexander.
The entire team — in front of and behind the camera — delivered big. I left that night feeling humbled, proud and more excited than ever for what's next.
Which brings me to Downtown Showdown.
On Saturday, July 26, Maple Leaf Pro literally takes wrestling to the streets — closing off downtown Windsor, dropping a ring at the intersection, and letting the action fly.
This is wrestling on the patios. Wrestling on the sidewalk. A fair show on supplements.
Last year's trial run drew about 500–600 fans. This year, we're expecting to pack in around 1,000.
The vibe is casual and electric — no video wall, no big stage, just daylight, great matches, a sound system, and the energy of a live crowd standing (or sitting) just feet from the action.
It's free, it's family-friendly, and it's world-class wrestling in the heart of my hometown.
Expect to see The Good Brothers, Giselle Shaw, Ace Austin, and more — not behind a velvet rope, but right there, where you can shake hands, grab a photo and make a memory.
We're proud of what we're building with Maple Leaf Pro.
And we're just getting started.

Photo Gallery: The Dionne quintuplets
Photo Gallery: The Dionne quintuplets Cécile Dionne, one of the world-famous Dionne quintuplets, died on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the age of 91 following a long illness, a family spokesperson confirmed. Cécile and her sisters became an instant global sensation from the moment of their birth in the Ontario community of Corbeil on May 28, 1934, as they became the first quintuplets known to survive past infancy. Carlo Tarini, a spokesperson of the family, confirmed the death and told The Canadian Press that Cécile died early Monday morning. "She lived her life with quiet dignity, exemplary discretion, and gentle humour, despite the hardships of a childhood lived in the public eye," reads an obituary Tarini shared. Cécile weighed less than two pounds when she was born and dealt with osteoporosis and other ongoing health problems related to her premature birth. She also fought COVID-19 twice, Tarini said. "She was not just a survivor, she was a real fighter. She showed remarkable strength of character," Tarini said in an interview Friday. The Dionne quintuplets were hailed as a salve to the gloom of financial austerity at the peak of their Depression-era fame — but the sisters said the attention came at a personal cost. Cécile and her sister Annette, who is now the last remaining quintuplet, spoke to The Canadian Press in 2019 and said parents should view childhood as a precious time that shouldn't be exploited for profit. Here is a look back at the quintuplets in photos. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 1, 2025.

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are 2025's newest 'it couple': Why fans are rooting for the co-stars and their 'budding' romance
Pamela Anderson and her "budding" romance with Liam Neeson have captured the public's attention. (Image via Getty Images/Yahoo Canada Illustration) Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are, without a doubt, the most buzz-worthy couple of 2025. Fans spotted the pair's undeniable chemistry while promoting their new film The Naked Gun — there were flirtatious moments on the red carpet, alongside plenty of laughter, smitten smiles and seemingly intimate body-language. The press tour for the reboot of the Leslie Nielson comedy has generated buzz — not for the film itself, but for letting spectators fall in love with the idea of 72-year-old Neeson and 58-year-old Anderson finding love. According to People, the pair are enjoying the 'early stages' of a 'budding romance.' Advertisement 'It's clear they're smitten with each other,' an anonymous source told the magazine. Social media has gone into a frenzy at the prospect of Anderson and Neeson being the real deal. (Images via Getty Images/X/Yahoo Canada Illustration) Although the source said the relationship began after filming the movie, Neeson has been effusive of his feelings for Anderson. 'With Pamela, first off, I'm madly in love with her. She's just terrific to work with,' Neeson said in an October 2024 interview. 'I can't compliment her enough, I'll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She's funny and so easy to work with." Anderson reciprocated, calling the British actor a 'perfect gentleman.' Plenty of press tours rely on the chemistry of stars to sell tickets. You don't have to think too far back to the likes of Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell seemingly leaning into rumours of an on-set affair while doing press for their 2023 film Anyone But You. And you can forget (or perhaps forgive) Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for purposely leading audiences to believe they 'fell in love' through their film, A Star is Born (2018). Advertisement So, what makes fan fascination with Neeson and Anderson any different? It turns out, plenty. Neeson and Richardson (pictured in 2008) were married for 16 years prior to her death in 2009. Musician Tommy Lee and Anderson (pictured in 1996) made headlines for their sometimes tumultuous relationship. (Images via Getty Images) Aside from being a revered and celebrated actor, Liam Neeson's personal heartbreak has endeared him to fans. In 2009, Neeson's wife, actress Natasha Richardson, died after sustaining a head injury while skiing. The couple had been married for 15 years and shared two sons who were in their early teens at the time of her death. Richardson was a beloved actress in her own right, and a member of the Redgrave acting dynasty. Her role in the '90s film, The Parent Trap, as Lindsay Lohan's lovable bridal designer mother Elizabeth James, cemented her as a sentimental touchstone for millennials who viewed her death as the loss of a pseudo-mother figure. Questions about dating over 40, marriage, divorce or anything else? We want to hear from you. Email us at relationship-questions@ and your question could be featured in an upcoming article. Even though he previously denounced dating, the prospect of Neeson finding love again is heartwarming, but it's whom he's "smitten" with that fuels interest in his personal life. Anderson's past contains its own heartache. She's been a misunderstood public figure and in many ways, a modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Anderson's past contains its own heartache. She's been a misunderstood public figure and in many ways, a modern-day Marilyn Monroe. After experiencing sexual abuse during her childhood, she was catapulted to fame as a sex symbol. Her tumultuous romantic relationships made headlines, as did her private home video with ex-husband Tommy Lee which was stolen and sold without her consent. However, unlike Marilyn, the dismantling of a toxic Hollywood star-system has allowed the mother-of-two to rewrite the narrative assigned to her. In 2023, Anderson debuted a new look that included minimal makeup and high-fashion designer clothes. (Photo by) The former Baywatch star has shed all remnants of her former image, opting for a high-fashion, minimalist, fresh-faced aesthetic. Through her autobiography and documentary, the public has been able to see Anderson as a woman who has struggled with depression for "decades," a dedicated mother and artist who leads a "lonely" and "solitary" life. While there's shame in how she was treated by the media (and rightfully so) the public's embrace of the real Anderson includes rooting for her to find happiness, which might come in the form of a romance. While there's shame in how she was treated by the media (and rightfully so) the public's embrace of the real Anderson includes rooting for her to find happiness, which might come in the form of a romance. Advertisement And while we all know that romantic relationships aren't the be-all and end-all of life, it's touching to see people find love in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. Prior to Neeson and Anderson, the internet rallied behind actors Meryl Streep, 75, and Martin Short, 76, who began a relationship while filming the TV show Only Murders In the Building. Streep had separated from her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer, while Short's wife of more than 30 years, Nancy Dolman, died from cancer in 2010. Meryl Streep and Martin Short have become one of the internet's favourite couples. (Photo by JC Olivera/WireImage) While the internet can be an ugly place, the support for Streep and Short, as well as Neeson and Anderson, is wholesome. If we were to speculate why, it could be that aside from being beloved celebrities, these couples are examples of people finding love later in life and shining a spotlight on a demographic of people often excluded from traditional dating narratives. Many people are led to believe that women over 40 or post-menopause have somehow lost their appeal and are no longer desirable. It's not uncommon for men, particularly male celebrities, in their 50s, 60s or 70s to suddenly appear on a red carpet with a woman in her 20s or 30s on their arm. But having Streep and Short, Neeson and Anderson as examples of age-appropriate couples helps shift the discourse around what sex and romance can look like for people in their later years — even if its done unintentionally. They represent hope that no matter what twists, turns and heartbreaks you may suffer, good things can come to good people at any age. Love is still possible after loss and often when you least expect it. Let us know what you think by emailing us, commenting below and tweeting @YahooStyleCA! Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Sparked ‘Instant Connection,' Source Says: 'They Have a Lot in Common' (Exclusive)
The rumored new couple stepped out together in Montréal recently, and a source tells PEOPLE they're "interested in each other"NEED TO KNOW Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry sparked romance rumors in recent days by spending time together in Montréal The pair shared dinner together on Monday, July 28, and the former Canadian prime minister attended Perry's Lifetimes Tour two days later Sources tell PEOPLE that their circumstances give then an "instant connection," but any relationship between them is in the "early stages"Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry sparked romance rumors this week with multiple outings in Montréal, and sources tell PEOPLE that something could be blossoming between the two. One Canadian source says the pair shared an attraction when they met a few months ago, and now they are both available following Perry's recent split from Orlando Bloom. However, the source adds that exploring their connection could have roadblocks given their busy personal and professional lives. "They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,' the source says. 'She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.' 'Music is one of many things they can share,' the source adds, with optimism being another. "Both are idealists and still live in a world where they think they can make improvements, although it has gotten more difficult.' Trudeau, 53, split from wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They share three teenage children. Meanwhile, Perry, 40, confirmed the end of her engagement with Bloom in early July, after they welcomed daughter Daisy in 2020. 'Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would, but there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities,' the source says. 'For one thing, they each have an ex. So, duties are split in half. And long-distance relationships, while still hard, are possible for these two.' On Monday, Perry and Trudeau were photographed walking a dog through Montréal's Mount Royal Park before enjoying a meal at local restaurant Le Violon. The duo met with Chef Danny Smiles during dinner and headed to the kitchen after their meal to thank the staff. According to TMZ, Perry and Trudeau enjoyed cocktails and several dishes, though they weren't seen indulging in any PDA. 'Justin is a [politician] who is used to living a secret life with his personal activity, and wouldn't put on a public display at this stage,' another Canadian source tells PEOPLE. "He knows they were being watched and is smart enough to play it low-key for now.' '[The] timing seems good for them, although a romance is in very early stages,' the source adds. Then, on Wednesday, July 30, Trudeau was spotted in the crowd at Perry's sold-out Lifetimes Tour at Montréal's Bell Centre. The former prime minister was seen in the crowd wearing a casual black T-shirt as he smiled while watching the singer's performance, even singing along to some of her hits.
