World-famous musician and rap artist Eminem has sued Facebook-owner Meta Platforms for $109 million in damages, accusing the company of copyright infringement, reported the news portal E! News on Wednesday, 4 June 2025.
According to the news portal's report citing the court documents, Eight Mile Style was the publishing company which filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms on 30 May 2025.
The court order states that Marshall Mathers (Eminem) is alleging that Meta violated the copyright of 243 songs from his catalogue through the 'unauthorised storage, reproduction and exploitation' of his rap songs on their social media platform, as per the news report.
The lawsuit also alleged that Meta's in-app features like 'Original Audio' and 'Reels' were encouraging and allowing users to steal Eminem's music to use in video content without 'proper attribution or license.'
The Grammy winner is now seeking to receive a monetary payment as a penalty for the damages which were allegedly caused due to the copyright infringements.
'The diminished value of the copyrights by Defendants' theft of them, lost profits, and Defendants' profits attributable to the infringement,' according to the news portal's report.
Eminem also has asked for $150,000 for each song in question across all three platforms owned by Meta, which totals up to a little over $109 million.
The social media giant has not responded to the news portal's queries on this development.
Meta Platform shares were trading 2.34 per cent higher at $682.46 on the Nasdaq on Wednesday's Wall Street session as of 11:04 a.m. (EDT), compared to $666.85 in the previous US market session.
On the backdrop of this case, Eminem was alleged was set to perform in India on 3 June 2025, but there was no official confirmation from the rapper or his organisers that any concert actually took place on Tuesday.
Multiple media reports and leaked tour schedules suggested that Eminem was scheduled to perform in Mumbai on 3 June 2025, but no verified information confirmed that the concert actually happened.
Mint on 20 February 2025 cited a Gang Flow report which claimed that Eminem's 2025 world tour would have stops across North America, Asia, and Europe. However, this information, along with the India tour, was incorrect due to the lack of official data.

B Pharma student among 3 arrested for online fraud
Lucknow: UP STF on Friday arrested three persons, including a B Pharma student, from Bhopal for a cyber scam in which they lured victims through social media platforms by promising handsome returns on completing fake "tasks. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now " The trio was arrested from Danish Nagar, Hoshangabad Road, in a joint operation with Amethi Police. STF ASP Vishal Vikram Singh said: "Victims were invited to join private Telegram groups via fraudulent links, where they were enticed to complete small digital 'tasks' in exchange for inflated financial rewards. Initial earnings were credited into fake wallets to build trust, but as victims invested more, they were trapped in an endless cycle of deposits, losing lakhs in the process." Those arrested included the alleged mastermind and a B Pharma student at Bhabha University, Bhopal, Shivansh Mishra (22) of Shahdol (MP). His childhood friend Ravi Singh (23) also from Shahdol, and maternal uncle Umashankar Tiwari (43) of Bhopal were also arrested. Police also seized three mobiles, 16 debit cards, 15 cheque books, nine bank passbooks and 359 screenshots of incriminating WhatsApp conversations related to cyber fraud, one PAN card, one driving licence, and one IGT Solutions employee ID card. One of the complainants, Ashish Vikram Singh from Amethi, filed an FIR, detailing how he was targeted. Ashish received a Facebook link promoting a "work-from-home reward scheme." Upon clicking, he was added to a Telegram group where he was assigned digital tasks. After depositing Rs10,000, he received a bonus of Rs 2,512, giving the appearance of legitimacy. Encouraged, Ashish completed 28 rounds of "tasks". At one point, a balance of Rs 9.13 lakh appeared in the digital wallet, and he was promised he could withdraw it after completing a final task worth Rs 3.16 lakh. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now But when he attempted to withdraw, he was told to deposit additional "security amounts" — first Rs 2.25 lakh, then Rs3 lakh more, and finally Rs 6.3 lakh for "VIP access." Ultimately, he was defrauded of Rs13 lakh. The ASP said Shivansh and Ravi were briefly recruited at a Bhopal call centre operated by IGT Solutions. There, they met cyber fraud recruiters — Zubair Khan, Saif Khan, and Anil Nayar and Amit Nayar — who ran a parallel racket involving rented bank accounts. For every new bank account with full access kits (ATM card, cheque book, SIM card, login credentials), Shivansh and the team were paid Rs15,000 and a share in the illicit earnings. They created nearly 50 bank accounts over the last year, often using forged documents or by convincing acquaintances. These accounts served as primary money mules.

Man booked for ‘causing enmity' after post on ‘false' Kedarnath flood situation
Dehradun: An FIR was registered in Dehradun against a man operating a Facebook account under the name Bablu Meena for allegedly sharing a "misleading" video that falsely depicted a flood-like situation in Uttarakhand, "with the intent to create panic among Char Dham pilgrims," police officials said on Saturday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The case was filed on Friday evening following a complaint by head constable Arvind Nautiyal, who is posted at the Char Dham control room in Dehradun. The accused was charged under BNS sections 353(1)(b) (spreading false information to create public fear) and 353(2) (promoting enmity between religious groups), along with section 54 of the Disaster Management Act. Sub-inspector Jagdamba Prasad, who is investigating the matter, said, "The user had uploaded a 15-second video on Facebook with the caption: 'baad ke paani se door rahen' (stay away from flood water). The video shows tourists on a wooden platform near a flooded river in a hilly area, with a sudden surge sweeping some of them away. By Saturday evening, the post had received over 28,000 likes, 339 comments, and more than 750 shares. " He added, "The caption further claimed '17 missing… flood situation in Uttarakhand', which is entirely false and misleading. The video is not from Uttarakhand or Kedarnath. It appears to be aimed at spreading fear and misinformation about the Char Dham pilgrimage. A probe is underway to trace and arrest the accused." The development comes amid a surge in social media posts purportedly showing waterlogged sections of the Kedarnath trek, with several users advising pilgrims to postpone or cancel their travel plans. In one such video, dated June 16, heavy rainwater can be seen gushing along the trek route. A caption accompanying the clip warned: "Don't come to Kedarnath at this time, it's raining heavily." Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Another video, posted three days ago, showed a pilgrim gasping for breath while being offered water by a fellow traveller. The accompanying message reads: "Don't come to Kedarnath now. There are heavy rains and landslides occurring there."
