Cop injured amid 'disturbance' in Scottish Borders as witness appeal launched
A police officer has been left injured following a "disturbance" in the Scottish Borders.
The incident unfolded around 10amon Saturday, July 26, when Police Scotland was called to a property in the Howdenbank, Hawick.
During the course of the incident, one officer was injured but did not require hospital treatment.
Another man, aged 35, was taken to hospital for treatment. Detectives are now appealing for information.
Detective Sergeant Kim Allan said: "This was a contained incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.

Woman dead after 'Asda armed robbery' as cops hunt for 'more victims'
A man aged 37 was arrested following a suspected armed robbery and he was later arrested again on suspicion of murder. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector, Dan Bates of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "This is clearly a very serious incident, where a young woman has lost her life. "There is a heightened police presence in Dewsbury today as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident. Our immediate priority is to identify and locate the two people and establish whether or not they have come to any harm. "A murder investigation is also underway and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public at this time. "We recognise this inquiry will cause concern in the community; we are working closely with our colleagues in the local neighbourhood policing team, who have stepped up patrols in the town centre. "I would like to appeal to anyone who may have information that would assist to come forward and speak to us. We are also looking for any CCTV, doorbell and dash cam footage people might have to help our investigation."

Toddler found dead on popular Greek tourist beach by horrified passer-by
A young girl was found dead on a beach near the Greek capital of Athens early on Sunday - and authorities are now carrying out investigations to determine what happened to her. A toddler has tragically been found dead on a popular tourist beach in Greece by a horrified passerby. The child, believed to be around two or three years old, was discovered on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro, near Athens, in the early hours of July 27. Local reports say a man, from Egypt, spotted the girl's body on the shore and called the emergency services. Authorities rushed to the scene, where they located the child, who hasn't been identified so far. Her body was transported to the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital via ambulance, where doctors pronounced her dead. An autopsy will be carried out to determine the girl's cause of death, authorities have said. Greek newspaper Protothema reported that the child was wearing a full-zip bathing suit and was not wearing armbands when she was found. The publication added that there were no obvious signs of abuse on the girl. No child matching her characteristics has been reported missing in the area. Last week, a British tourist was tragically found dead on his sun lounger on a popular Greek beach after reportedly becoming unwell. The 74-year-old was discovered unconscious on Stalis Beach on the isle of Crete by other people at the resort at around 12pm on Sunday, July 20. Emergency services rushed to the scene and made a desperate bid to revive the man, but unfortunately their efforts proved unsuccessful. It is understood that he had first gone for a swim before returning to the sun lounger and there are reports he had a "strong feeling" of sickness shortly before his death. EasyJet passenger arrested after shouting ‘Allahu Akbar' on flight
An easyJet passenger has been arrested after allegedly shouting 'Allahu Akbar' on a flight. Witnesses said the man claimed to have a bomb on the plane, which was flying from Luton to Glasgow on Sunday morning. Footage shows the man at the back of the aircraft, standing up and shouting: 'Stop the plane. 'Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump.' He then allegedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar' three times, which means God is the greatest in Arabic. He was pinned down by three passengers, while air hostesses climbed on the seats to obtain the man's bags. Trump is currently on a four-day visit to Scotland. A 41-year-old man was detained at the scene and remains in custody, Police Scotland said. Officers who had been waiting on the tarmac handcuffed the man and removed him from the aircraft. A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Sun he woke at around 8am to hear the man coming out of the plane's lavatory shouting that he had a bomb. 'He literally came out of the toilet shouting 'Allahu Akbar' with his hands above his head,' he said. 'Then he said 'I've got a bomb, I've got a bomb' – at this point people were confused.' The 39-year-old added: 'He pushed the airline staff and was being aggressive towards them. He was a big guy, about six foot and they were these petite women. 'When he pushed them, that's when things changed.' The witness said an emergency landing took place after an announcement by the pilot before police swarmed on to make the arrest. 'The main copper said, 'Look, don't mess about or you'll go straight down,'' he added. 'By this point the guy had calmed down. He'd admitted he didn't have a bomb. He gave up.' 'Footage being assessed by counter terrorism officers' A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July, 2025. 'Officers boarded the plane on its arrival and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing. 'At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. 'We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers.' An easyJet spokesman said: 'Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard. 'EasyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time. 'The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.'
