Nagaralu leaders seek BC-D category caste certificates
Vijayawada: Minister for Backward Classes, Handlooms and Textiles S Savitha on Sunday assured that the State government will take steps to recognise the Nagaralu caste people belonging to BC-D category and issue the caste certificates accordingly. On Sunday, Nagaralu caste leaders met Minister Savitha at the camp office in Tadepalli and submitted a representation requesting her to consider the Nagaralu caste people as the BC-D category and issue caste certificates in all districts of Andhra Pradesh. They expressed concern that, despite an existing Government Order (GO) directing for the issuance of BC-D caste certificates to Nagaralu caste people, officials in some districts are not giving BC-D caste certificate. They highlighted that Nagaralu are getting the BC-D caste category certificates in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Krishna districts only while the rest of the State is being rejected. The Nagaralu leaders said this lapse is reportedly denying many eligible people access to government welfare schemes. The delegation urged the Minister to act swiftly and ensure the GO is uniformly implemented across all districts. Responding to their appeal, Minister Savitha said she would give instructions to the officials to take steps in this regard. Nagaralu leaders Kumar Naidu, Nallani Giridhar, Suresh Kumar, and others were present during the meeting.

CM Fadnavis launches podcast 'Maharashtra Dharma', urges people to preserve legacy of state's icons
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday appealed to citizens to preserve and nurture the knowledge shared by the state's saints and icons, calling it a responsibility. Maharashtra produced not just warriors, but protectors of dharma, visionaries of the nation, and architects of modern India, he said. "Though we may not be the direct descendants of Dnyaneshwar, Shivaji Maharaj, Savitribai Phule and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, we are the carriers of their intellectual legacy. With their knowledge, sacrifice, and courage, they shaped this state," he said. He was speaking during the first episode of his podcast 'Maharashtra Dharma', launched on 'Ashadhi Ekadashi'. The podcast was conducted by scholar Dr Sadanand More. "Preserving, nurturing, and advancing the intellectual legacy of Maharashtra's saints and icons is our duty," said Fadnavis. 'Maharashtra Dharma' is not mere nostalgia, it is people's moral compass, he said. "'Maharashtra Dharma' is understanding who we are and determining what we want to become," the CM said. During his first tenure as the chief minister between 2014 and 2019, Fadnavis had hosted a television show named Mi Mukhyamantri Boltoy'. The first episode, titled 'Maharashtra Dharma: Foundation and Formation', covered topics ranging from the Ramayana and Mahabharata to the teachings of Gautam Buddha and the evolution of Maharashtra's spiritual journey.

Hunter Biden turned to DNC for legal fees, ultimately his ‘sugar brother' footed millions
New book reveals that as legal trouble mounted for Hunter Biden last year, the then-first son reportedly begged the Democratic National Committee to cover his ballooning legal fees. A political tell-all states Hunter Biden pleaded for DNC assistance with his legal fees, which were declined. (AP Photo/Eric Thayer, File)(AP) The upcoming political tell-all, 2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America claims the DNC declined, even though it had already been footing the legal bill for President Joe Biden's separate classified documents investigation. The former son's longtime backer and friend, Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris, nicknamed his 'sugar brother', had already paid off over $2 million in back taxes and was reportedly covering many of Hunter's legal expenses. These included not only defence attorneys but also court-mandated payments like alimony to ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and child support to Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter's daughter, Navy Joan, as the New York Post cited. Morris, who testified before House Republicans earlier this year, estimated that Hunter's legal tab had hit $5 million by the time the 2024 presidential race began heating up. However, Morris' own daughter criticised Hunter, accusing him of 'taking advantage' of her father's support. How Hunter Biden's trials undid a Presidency Last June, a law firm that once represented Hunter sued him for allegedly failing to pay over $50,000 in outstanding fees. On 11 June 2024, Hunter was convicted on three felony gun charges. Just months later, in September, he pleaded guilty to several tax felonies for evading $1.4 million in IRS payments. 'The only thing I care about is that my son is not convicted,' Then President Joe Biden told one of his close friends, per The Wall Street Journal. Notably, Joe even considered creating a legal defence fund to help Hunter battle both federal charges and the ongoing congressional inquiry into his overseas business dealings.
