Bilawal Bhutto Says Pakistan Has No Objection To Extraditing 'Individuals Of Concern' To India

Last Updated: Bilawal Bhutto said Pakistan would be willing to arrest any "individual of concern" if India is willing to participate in the process and present evidence of the same. Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said his country had no objection to extraditing 'individuals of concern" to India as a confidence-building measure, as long as India shows willingness to cooperate with its neighbour. In an interview with Al Jazeera on Friday, Bilawal responded to a question about extraditing Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed and Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar as possible concessions and good-faith gestures to India. 'As part of a comprehensive dialogue with Pakistan, where terrorism is one of the issues that we discuss, I am sure Pakistan would not be opposed to any of these things," he said, while accusing India of not complying with Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism. 'If India Cooperates…' 'India is refusing to comply with certain basic elements that require that conviction to take place. It's important … to present evidence within these courts, for people to come over from India to testify, to put up with whatever the counter-accusations will be," said Bilawal. 'If India is willing to be cooperative in that process, I am sure there will be no hurdle in extraditing any individual of concern." Masood Azhar, who has been linked to a string of terror attacks in India- including the 2001 Parliament attack, the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the 2016 Pathankot airbase assault and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing- was designated a UN global terrorist in 2019. Meanwhile, Saeed – the mastermind of the 26/11 attack – is currently serving a 33-year sentence for terror financing. Bilawal also stressed that Pakistan had no knowledge of the location of Azhar and said he would be arrested if New Delhi provides credible evidence that he is on Pakistani soil. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman also suggested that Azhar may be in Afghanistan. 'New Abnormal' Furthermore, Bilawal expressed concern about India's renewed policy to pursue terrorists, saying it does not serve the interests of either country and termed it a 'new abnormal". India said any further discussions with Pakistan would only be on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), after ties deteriorated sharply following a terror attack by Lashkar-linked terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. India and Pakistan exchanged four days of hostilities after New Delhi launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in the neighbouring country. The two countries reached an 'understanding" on May 10. (with agency inputs) First Published: July 05, 2025, 16:42 IST

Modi govt approves new deadly weapon for air defence, its name is..., may destroy Pakistan, China within...

Tension builds in Pakistan, China as Indian Armed forces to get 'Made in India' …, capable of eliminating threat in seconds, it is… QRSAM Air Defence System: Recent conflicts across the world have shown us that conventional war has changed drastically with new and advanced threats. Dangerous weapons such as suicide drones, precision missiles, and deadly fighter jets are capable of destroying their targets in no time. The technology used in weapons to deal with these threats has also improved. A powerful air defence system is capable of eliminating these threats within seconds. The Iran-Israel conflict has shown us the importance of air defence systems to safeguard military bases and cities. The Indian Army has short-, medium-, and long-range missile air defence systems, which can easily destroy enemy aircraft, helicopters, and drones approaching the Indian border. One more member is going to be added to this family of air defence systems. The DAC, headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, recently approved the proposal to add the Quick Response Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) to the Indian Defence Forces. The total cost of this project is said to be around Rs 33,000 crore. How Can QRSAM Provide Protection During Ground Attack? QRSAM is usually used during ground attacks in enemy territory. Whenever Indian tanks enter enemy territory, QRSAMs will also move along. If enemy tries air attack on Indian tanks, they will be stopped by QRSAM. It is developed by DRDO and its missile and radars are developed by the indigenous company BEL. The vehicle on which QRSAM is set up is being made by BDL. This surface-to-air missile system, which is mounted on an 8×8 truck chassis with six launch tubes, has 30-km range. Capable of intercepting and engaging six targets simultaneously, QRSAM features electronic countermeasures to prevent jamming. Successful testing has proved its effectiveness against various aerial threats, which includes fighter jets, attack helicopters, and precision-guided munitions. Does India Have Other Vehicle-Based Air Defence Systems? The Indian armed forces have been using vehicle-based air defence systems which were purchased from Russia decades ago. These include Shilka, Tungushka, Strela-10M, Osa AK and Pechora. However, these will be replaced by indigenous QRSAM. The Pechora air defence system is deployable in both mobile and stationary forms. However, it is now outdated and is being replaced by the Akash system.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Forgets Pahalgam Attack, Calls Op Sindoor 'Unprovoked'

Last Updated: In addition to targeting India's post-Pahalgam actions, Shehbaz Sharif accused New Delhi of breaching the Indus Waters Treaty and using shared rivers as leverage At the 17th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit in Azerbaijan, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again used a multilateral forum to target India — this time invoking the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the Kashmir issue, and the Indus Waters Treaty, while framing India's response as 'unprovoked aggression". Speaking at a time when Pakistan faces growing international scrutiny over its role in cross-border terrorism, Sharif told fellow ECO member states that India's actions were 'reckless" and aimed at destabilising regional peace. 'The unprovoked and reckless Indian hostility directed towards Pakistan after an unfortunate incident in Jammu and Kashmir was yet another attempt to destabilise regional peace," he claimed. The 'incident" referred to was the brutal massacre in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, where 26 innocent civilians were killed in one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir in recent years. The Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), had claimed responsibility for the attack. India responded with Operation Sindoor, targeting multiple terror launchpads across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir used by groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Sharif did not mention the victims of the Pahalgam attack, nor did he acknowledge the Pakistan-based origin of the group that claimed responsibility. Instead, he praised his military's response to India's cross-border strikes: 'The world witnessed the steadfast resolve of our valiant Armed Forces under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir." He also thanked ECO nations for their support in the wake of what he portrayed as Indian aggression. In a now-routine move, Sharif raised the Kashmir issue again, equating Indian security operations in the Union Territory with violence in Gaza and Iran. 'Pakistan stands firmly against those who perpetrate barbaric acts against innocent people anywhere in the world, whether in Gaza, Kashmir, or Iran," he said, sidestepping the fact that the Pahalgam massacre was carried out by a group based in his own country. 'Weaponisation Of Water' Sharif further accused India of violating the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), claiming that New Delhi was 'weaponising" water against Pakistan. 'This violation is completely unacceptable. The Indus waters are a lifeline for Pakistan's 240 million people. India's actions amount to aggression," he said, referencing the recent verdict by the Permanent Court of Arbitration that went against India on a procedural technicality but did not halt Indian projects. India has maintained that all its hydroelectric projects on the western rivers — particularly the Kishanganga and Ratle — are fully compliant with the treaty's terms. Remarks On Iran, Israel And Gaza Sharif also condemned Israel's recent strikes on Iran, calling them 'unlawful, unjustified and uncalled for". Over 600 people reportedly died in the Israeli operation, which targeted key elements of Iran's nuclear infrastructure in June. 'Pakistan strongly condemns this act of Israeli aggression… We pray for a speedy recovery of our injured brothers and sisters in Iran," he said, using the moment to draw equivalence between events in Iran, Gaza and Kashmir. Climate And Regional Cooperation Outside of geopolitics, Sharif urged ECO member states to ramp up cooperation on climate change. Citing Pakistan's vulnerability, including the 2022 floods that displaced over 33 million people, he proposed 'low emissions corridors," a regional 'disaster resilience system," and investment in 'green jobs" through eco-tourism and clean energy initiatives. 'Pakistan is aggressively pursuing the 4F plans focusing on resilience, recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction," he said, pitching a 'dedicated framework to mobilise climate finance."
