Terron 9 Elite arrives and LDV is taking preorders
Powering LDV's new full-sized ute is a 2.5L turbodiesel engine producing 164kW power and 520Nm torque. It has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3500kg.
The 4WD workhorse comes with multiple terrain modes, and off-road expert information, including altitude, compass, wading sensor and approach angle.
It also has an 1100kg payload, and a spray-on tray liner with four fixed tie-down points as standard.
Inside are cloth seat covers, a six-way powered driver's seat, and a four-way manual adjustable passenger seat. Other features include a keyless entry and start, a surround camera, DRLs and LED headlights, dual 12.3-inch screens, and wireless phone hook up. Safety items include auto headlights and auto high beam assist, lane keeping, traffic sign recognition and blind spot monitoring.
Kym Mellow, GM of Inchcape New Zealand which handles LDV product, introduced the model and announced pricing at Hamilton's Fieldays event.

'Selflessness' Canterbury-born Supercars figure dies in tragic accident
A well-known Supercars figure from Canterbury died on Sunday after a "tragic and ultimately" cycling accident. Tim Miles, who was born in Ashburton, was "an extraordinary figure in Australian motorsport", a keen racer, corporate advisor and former team owner. Tim played a crucial role in shaping the future of Supercars. Through his company, Miles Advisory Partners, he was instrumental in the sale of Supercars to Archer Capital in 2011. In 2021, Tim brokered the sale of Supercars to Racing Australia Consolidated Enterprises Pty Ltd. The proud Kiwi was a regular competitor in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and GT World Challenge Australia. This year he was competing with Melbourne Performance Centre and Audi alongside countryman Brendon Leitch. Previously, Tim was a co-owner of Triple Eight Race Engineering team, selling his shareholding to Tony Quinn in 2021. He was also co-founder of Tasman Motorsport. A statement on behalf of the Miles family said: "The world has lost the bright, shining light that was Tim Miles. "Tim was involved in a tragic and ultimately fatal accident this (Sunday, 6 July) morning in Sydney while enjoying one of his favourite hobbies - cycling. "His loss is keenly felt by friends and family, especially Wife, Tracy, and daughters Caley and Erin. "Tim was a family man, though one who loved nothing more than stressing out his beloved Tracy about his latest motorsport-related purchase or adventure - all the while proudly telling stories of his two daughters' successes in life. "His passing will be notably impactful on his other love - a motorsport community that felt Tim's impact as a competitor, an owner, a supporter and as a businessman for more than 35 years." Tim initially chased the dream as a racing driver before focusing on business and growing his successful business advisory firm, Miles Advisory Partners. It was his success in business that allowed him to extend his passion for motorsport and his family, the two of which often intertwined. He was noted as a competitor in one-make Porsche racing and GT competition and as a key backer of the international careers of young stars from Australia and New Zealand, including Matt Campbell and Jaxon Evans. He recently realised his dream of competing at the Le Mans 24 Hours, where he ran a tribute livery to longstanding family friend, Rod McElrea. "Tim was a fantastic storyteller, a man with a brilliant sense of humour and who showed genuine interest in the lives of those around him - whether he'd known them for years or just met them. "His loss will be keenly felt by family and friends, the business community in which he worked and the motorsport community in which he lived. "Funeral details will be advised in due course." The Miles family asks for privacy in this time and thanked those who have already reached out in support since Tim's passing. A Supercars statement said: "Supercars extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Tim Miles, who has sadly passed away. "Tim was an extraordinary figure in Australian motorsport — not just for his work behind the wheel, but for the immense influence he had off the track across more than two decades. "As a corporate advisor and former team owner, Tim played a pivotal role in shaping the future of the sport. Through his company, Miles Advisory Partners, he was instrumental in the sale of Supercars to Archer Capital in 2011 — a landmark transaction that helped transform the championship into the powerhouse it is today. "Our thoughts are with Tim's loved ones during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed by the entire Supercars community.

F1: Verstappen takes pole for British GP, Lawson to start 15th
Kiwi Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson will have a tough battle to fight at this weekend's British Grand Prix, after only managing to set the 16th fastest time during qualifying. Fresh off the back of his career-best result in Austria, the Kiwi clocked a fastest qualifying time of 1:26.440s at the Silverstone circuit- missing out on advancing to Q2 by 0.112s. A 10-place grid penalty for Haas driver Oliver Bearman will see Lawson jump up a place on the grid, to start the British Grand Prix in 15th. It's a disappointing result for the Racing Bulls driver, who scored two top 10 finishes during practice. 'It's more frustrating, because we've had a fast car all weekend,' Lawson said post-qualifying. "The temperatures, we couldn't get on top of tyres. ADVERTISEMENT 'For whatever reason, we struggled to put the tyre in a good place for the lap. We haven't had that issue this weekend, so it's something new that's been in quali. 'It's going to be a tough race.' Verstappen snatches pole from McLaren rivals Formula 1's hot topic is where Max Verstappen might go next season. He sacrificed grip for speed and went fastest by 0.103 of a second to beat Oscar Piastri's time. Lando Norris was third, .015 further back, as his fans in the new 'Landostand' saw a setback to his chances of a first home win. ADVERTISEMENT Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, a record nine-time winner of his home race, was also in the fight for pole but had to settle for fifth after a relatively slow end to his lap. With George Russell fourth for Mercedes, that made three British drivers in the top five, but none on the front row. Piastri lost time with a slight slide in the last corner on his final run, while Norris clipped a curb on an otherwise strong lap. Verstappen had seemed pessimistic about having the pace to challenge the McLarens at Silverstone — Ferrari had been closer than Red Bull in practice — and he described his car as 'so difficult' over the radio partway through the session. Even so, he found the pace for pole. A crucial change After Verstappen was frustrated with his car in practice, Red Bull tweaked the setup for higher straight-line speed, at the cost of some grip, especially in Silverstone's many high-speed corners. 'It seemed to hold on,' was Verstappen's verdict. In Sunday's race, that could make it trickier for the McLarens to get close enough to try and overtake. Even with the DRS overtaking aid, Norris said the McLarens might be able to match Verstappen's higher top speed only on the straights, not reel him in. ADVERTISEMENT Piastri said the conditions reminded him of qualifying at the Japanese GP in April, when Verstappen took pole. He kept both McLarens behind him in the race for his first win of 2025. Piastri has a 15-point lead over Norris, while Verstappen was third, 61 points off the lead. Tsunoda struggles in other Red Bull Amid speculation over Verstappen's future, there was another sign of how much Red Bull relies on the four-time world champion as his teammate Yuki Tsunoda missed the top 10 for the sixth straight qualifying session. Tsunoda placed 12th and on Sunday will seek to end a run of four races without scoring a point. Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli qualified seventh but has a three-place penalty for crashing into Verstappen on the opening lap of the Austrian GP last week, dealing a heavy blow to Verstappen's title challenge. Haas rookie Oliver Bearman had impressive pace to qualify eighth. It meant little because he already had a 10-place penalty after he crashed in the pits after speeding under a red flag in practice. Franco Colapinto is under pressure with no points this season at Alpine and did himself no favors on Saturday by qualifying last with a spin and slide into the barriers which brought out the red flag.
