Fake social media a/cs being used to fan caste tensions: CM
2
Varanasi: CM
Yogi Adityanath
on Friday hailed tribal communities as the foundation of Indian civilization and warned against rising attempts to incite caste conflict through fake social media accounts, calling for immediate action to stop such divisive agendas.
Speaking at a seminar on tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda at Vasant Mahila Mahavidyalaya in Varanasi, Yogi said those who seek to defame the kanwariyas are the same people who tried to separate the tribal community from India.
Underscoring the importance of social harmony, he said the Kanwar Yatra embodies unity transcending caste, creed and sect. "Today, the yatra is progressing peacefully and with devotion, yet some label it as unruly.
These are the same forces that try to mislead and provoke tribal communities. We must remain alert to such divisive elements," he warned."They (divisive elements) conspired at every level to make them fight against India.
This is the same community that always insults the faith of India and these are the same people who today want to create a situation of caste conflict by creating fake accounts on social media platforms," Yogi said.
Taking a firm stance against divisive forces, the CM condemned the attempts to fuel caste and communal tensions through fake social media identities. Recalling a specific incident, he said, "A few years ago, there was a case of arson. I had remarked then that such an act likely didn't belong to any particular community. The investigation later confirmed that the person involved was wearing a saffron scarf, but was shouting 'Ya Allah'.
These deceptive individuals must be exposed and excluded from society if we are to protect national unity."
He cited another incident from Jaunpur, where a huge Tazia was constructed in violation of safety norms and came into contact with a high-tension wire, tragically claiming three lives. "Following this, an attempt was made to block roads and create unrest. I instructed the police to take strict action. Those disrupting social harmony must understand that peace and order are paramount," he asserted.
He added that the same forces who spread caste-based hatred online had also tried to provoke tribal communities against the nation. "Such elements must face strict action," he asserted.
Yogi said that tribal society has always been the bedrock of India's Sanatan tradition, highlighting its enduring role in defending the nation and safeguarding cultural values across eras.
He hailed tribal communities as the foundation of Indian civilization and warned against rising attempts to incite caste conflict through fake social media accounts, calling for immediate action to stop such divisive agendas.
Referring to the Ramayan, he said, "When Lord Ram was in exile and mother Sita was abducted, it was the tribal community that stood by him, despite the absence of Ayodhya's army. Similarly, Maharana Pratap reorganised his army in the forests of the Aravalli Range with the support of tribal groups and resisted emperor Akbar. Chhatrapati Shivaji, too, relied on the 'vanvasi' (forest dwellers) society to lay the foundation of the Hindavi Swarajya.
"
Yogi hailed Birsa Munda as a key figure of India's national awakening, asserting that tribal communities have consistently played a vital role in protecting India's spiritual and cultural legacy. "While we often associate the struggle for Independence with recent history, the tribal society has been fighting for Sanatan Dharma through every age," he said.
Acknowledging past shortcomings, the CM said previous govts failed to extend governance and essential services to the tribal communities.
"Where communication breaks down, conflict begins," he said, adding, "After 2017, our govt granted revenue village status to tribal villages, places that didn't have voting rights since 1947. We ensured delivery of ration cards, land leases, pensions, and development schemes to tribal regions in Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Mirzapur, and the Terai areas bordering Nepal.
"
Describing the tribal society as the true embodiment of India's Sanatan tradition, Yogi said, "Tribal communities live in complete harmony with nature, reflecting the essence of Vedic teachings in their everyday lives.
We often worship trees and rivers, but do not hesitate to exploit or encroach upon them. In contrast, tribal society has lived the message of the Vedas, coexisting with nature rather than exploiting it.
"
Yogi emphasized that Indian tradition has never confined Hindu identity to temple visits or scriptural belief. "Both the believer and the non-believer are Hindus. Charvak and Lord Buddha did not accept the Vedas, yet they are deeply respected in our tradition.
Then why question the identity of tribal communities in the context of Hinduism?" he wondered.
Praising PM Narendra Modi for declaring Nov 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day), the CM said the move has instilled a sense of respect and recognition in tribal communities. "They are our original society. Tribal Pride Day is a gesture of gratitude and a bridge of communication with them," he noted.
He added that the state govt has ensured 100% saturation of welfare schemes among marginalised communities, such as the Kol tribe, which is deeply rooted in the legacy of Lord Ram.

Cong gives adjournment notice in Lok Sabha, seeks suspension in Rajya Sabha
Submitting the notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress MP wrote, 'I give notice of my intention to move an adjournment motion to discuss a matter of urgent and serious national importance' ANI Congress whip in the Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore on Monday gave an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha, while Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala has given a Suspension of Business notice under rule 267 to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor in the Upper House of Parliament. Submitting the notice to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress MP Manickam Tagore wrote, "I give notice of my intention to move an adjournment motion to discuss a matter of urgent and serious national importance." He requested the Speaker to discuss the alleged security lapses that led to the Pahalgam terror attack, followed by the foreign policy post Operation Sindoor. "Matter: Glaring security lapses that led to the Pahalgam terror attack, the questionable foreign policy handling in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the recent claim by the US President that five Indian fighter jets were shot down, and the conspicuous silence of the Hon'ble Prime Minister even after 24 public statements by the US President taking credit for India's ceasefire," the notice read. Listing the Grounds for adjournment, Tagore added, "1. The horrific terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians has shaken the conscience of the nation. The attack exposes serious intelligence and security failures, despite repeated warnings about cross-border infiltration and terror threats in Jammu & Kashmir." "2. In response, our brave men and women in uniform executed Operation Sindoor with unmatched courage, discipline, and patriotism. The entire House salutes their sacrifice and commitment," the notice added. He alleged that the US President Donald Trump claimed that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was a result of trade pressure. "3. However, the Government's handling of the post-operation diplomatic and strategic narrative has been nothing short of a foreign policy disaster. The US President has gone on record 24 times claiming that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was negotiated by him, often under the guise of trade pressure. These repeated statements have gone uncontested by India's leadership," Tagore wrote. He added, "4. In his most recent remark, the US President claimed that five Indian fighter jets were shot down--a revelation that, if true, has not been placed before Parliament or the public. If false, it requires urgent rebuttal. Either way, this silence erodes trust in the Government's transparency on national security matters." The Congress MP also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent amid President Trump's claims. "5. The Hon'ble Prime Minister's complete silence on these repeated and increasingly provocative foreign assertions has created confusion, diminished India's diplomatic standing, and undermined confidence in the Government's strategic clarity," the notice read. "6. To compound this, the Chief of Defence Staff made disclosures about Operation Sindoor on foreign soil, bypassing Parliament, raising further concerns over procedural accountability in national defence matters," he added. He requested the Speaker to suspend other business of the House and take up the matter for discussion in the Lok Sabha. "In view of the seriousness of the issues involved--national security lapses, erosion of sovereign decision-making, and weakening of India's international image--I request that all other business of the House be suspended to take up this matter of urgent national importance," Tagore wrote. Meanwhile, writing to the Secretary General, Rajya Sabha, ongress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala gave a notice requesting Suspension of Business in the House. Surjewala wrote, "Under Rule 267 (Notice of Motion for Suspension of Rules) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Council of States (Rajya Sabha), I hereby give notice of my intention to move the following motion:- I hereby give notice under Rule 267 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Subha) of my intention to move the following motion for the suspension of business listed for 21 July 2025: "That this House suspend Zero Hour and the relevant rules pertaining to Question Hour and other businesses of the day to discuss the concems arising out of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam and India's response thenugh Oporation Sindoor"." The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin today on a stormy note with Opposition INDIA bloc gearing to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Centre on several key issues, including Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Air India (AI) 171 crash. The session will continue on August 21, with a break from August 12 to August 18. There will be a total of 21 sittings across 32 days. After proposed delimitation, Hindi belt to solely decide who becomes PM, warns KTR
Federal Structure, North-South Divide, Delimitation, Language Imposition, Voter Suppression, BRS Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao on Sunday made a powerful case for protecting the federal structure of India, warning against the growing centralization of power and resources in the Hindi heartland at the expense of southern states Speaking at the 9th edition of 'Talk Journalism' in Jaipur on 'The North-South Divide in Indian Politics', the BRS Working President stressed that representation in Parliament must not be dictated purely by population numbers. The southern states, which have implemented population control and contributed significantly to the nation's economy, should not be punished for their discipline. He cited data showing that while southern states like Kerala limited population growth to just 69 per cent since 1950, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a staggering 239 per cent rise. This demographic imbalance, he warned, was now set to translate into a political imbalance through the proposed delimitation exercise, which could see South India lose parliamentary seats even as North India gains. Cautioning the rulers, KTR said, 'Population alone cannot be the basis for the redistribution of seats or delimitation. It will lead to the centralization of policies and fiscal resources. The more political parties start feeling that the Hindi belt will decide who becomes the Prime Minister, the entire focus will be on making policies that suit the Hindi belt, and the rest of India will be left in the lurch.' On the issue of language imposition, KTR was unequivocal. 'India has no national language, and it does not need one. With 22 official languages and over 300 unofficial ones, our diversity is our strength. Language is not just a tool of communication – it's our cultural identity. I'm not enforcing Telugu on you, so why enforce Hindi on me?' KTR also raised concerns over recent controversies around electoral roll revisions in Bihar. He noted allegations of nearly five lakh voters being struck off the rolls, warning that such practices undermine India's democratic foundations. 'This is deeply worrying. In the last Bihar elections, the losing margin was just 12,500 votes. What happens if voter suppression decides an election? Even one Indian being denied the right to vote is unacceptable in the world's largest democracy,' he said, calling on the Election Commission of India to act swiftly. Citing unfulfilled promises made by the BJP-led Union government, such as the increase in Assembly seats in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under the AP Reorganization Act, KTR questioned the Centre's credibility. 'They hurriedly increased seats in Jammu and Kashmir and Assam for political gains but ignored South India. Why should we trust them now on delimitation?' he asked. Reiterating BRS party's stand, KTR said, 'We have always been independent and have never been subservient to anyone. We extended only issue-based support to the Union government. We believe that politics should be limited to the last six months, and economics should take centre stage for the remaining four and a half years.'

Russia's Rosneft says EU sanctions on Indian unit unjustified and illegal
Russian oil giant Rosneft on Sunday termed as unjustified and illegal the sanctions that the EU has slapped on its Indian unit, Nayara Energy . "Rosneft Oil Company considers the European Union's decision to impose restrictive measures on the Indian refinery of Nayara Energy as unjustified and illegal," it said in a statement. "These sanctions are yet another example of extraterritorial implementation of politically motivated restrictions that blatantly violate international law and infringe on the economic interests of a sovereign state." The European Union on Friday imposed sanctions on the Indian oil refinery of Rosneft and lowered the oil price cap , as part of a new raft of measures against Russia over its war in Ukraine. The fresh sanctions package on Russia included new banking restrictions and curbs on fuels made from Russian crude oil. The lowered oil price cap - currently set at USD 60 per barrel - means Russia will be forced to sell its crude at reduced rates to buyers like India. As the second-largest purchaser of Russian oil, India stands to benefit from this move. Russian crude currently accounts for nearly 40 per cent of India's total oil imports. "Rosneft emphasizes that it is not a controlling shareholder of Nayara Energy - the Company's share in the authorized capital of the enterprise is less than 50%," the Russian firm said, adding Nayara is managed by an independent Board of Directors. Rosneft said the European Union's grounds for imposing sanctions are completely far-fetched and false in content. "Nayara Energy is an Indian legal entity whose economic activity is aimed at the development of its assets. The entity is taxed entirely in India. "Nayara Energy shareholders have never received dividend payments and the accumulated profits have been used exclusively for the development of the refinery and petrochemicals and the company's retail network in India," it said. The Nayara Energy refinery is a strategically important asset for the Indian energy industry, providing a stable supply of petroleum products to the country's domestic market. "The imposition of sanctions against the refinery directly threatens India's energy security and will have a negative impact on its economy," Rosneft said. "Such actions of the European Union demonstrate complete disregard not only for international law, but also for the sovereignty of third countries. "Rosneft views these sanctions as part of the EU's destructive policy aimed at destabilizing global energy markets. The restrictions on Nayara Energy are yet another example of the EU's use of unfair competition practices," it said. Rosneft said it is counting on the fact that Nayara Energy will take measures to protect the legitimate interests of its shareholders and consumers, which will be supported by the governments of Russia and India.
