Lost In Views, Sachin Tendulkar Shares Pictures With 'Woolly New Friends'
The Master Blaster is enjoying a vacation with his wife Anjali and Sara and shared pictures from the scenic countryside with sheep, playfully offering them leaves. Despite knocking off a half-century two years back, Sachin Tendulkar continues to age like a fine wine. The maestro Indian batter, who retired from international cricket after a legendary career in 2013, has been spending time out with his family on various vacations. He is currently in the UK with his wife Anjali and daughter Sara and loving the scenic valleys and greenery in the countryside. On Tuesday, July 22, Tendulkar shared a series of beautiful pictures and videos, where the Master Blaster is enjoying the greenery around with sheep giving him company. Known for his humorous streak on social media, Tendulkar gave the post an amusing caption: 'Lost in the views, making some woolly new friends." In a video, Tendulkar is seen giving leaves for the group of sheep to eat, soaking in the natural beauty of the place and its peaceful vibes. Tendulkar was recently in London for the third Test of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with Anjali and Sara, enjoying the thrilling contest between India and England. He rang the traditional bell for the start of the play. The two great rivals gave the maestro plenty to cheer about in a Test that went to the final session of the final afternoon before Ben Stokes' men came out triumphant by 22 runs. Tendulkar also took time out for Wimbledon, expressing his love affair for tennis by watching some of the finest tennis players in action at the iconic event. He met fellow legends Roger Federer and Bjorn Borg at the Royal Box and shared a picture with them. During his time in London, Tendulkar supported former teammate and 2011 World Cup champion Yuvraj Singh's gala organised to raise support for his cancer awareness programme and charity 'YouWeCan'. The gala was also attended by Tendulkar's successor and former India captain Virat Kohli, who joined hands with Yuvraj for the noble cause along with Kevin Pietersen, Brian Lara, Ravi Shastri and many other former and current cricketing stars. Even the travelling Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, stood behind the cancer awareness cause and posed for pictures with the greats at the charity gala. view comments First Published: July 24, 2025, 00:04 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Vaibhav Suryavanshi Out For Golden Duck In 2nd Youth Test, Video Goes Viral
Vaibhav Suryavanshi tried to play a big shot on the first ball of the second innings but failed to connect with the ball properly and got out for a golden duck. The India U-19 team had high hopes from 14-year-old left-handed opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Wednesday (July 23), but he failed to live up to the billing and got out for a first-ball duck in India's second innings of the ongoing second youth Test against England. In the match taking place at County Ground in Chelmsford, England declared their second innings at 324/5 and set a target of 355 runs for the Ayush Mhatre-led side to chase down and win the fixture. Indian team management expected Suryavanshi to give a flying start along with captain Mhatre, but on the first ball of the Indian innings, he lost his wicket against fast bowler Alex Green. Vaibhav tried to play a big shot but failed to connect with the ball properly, and after kissing an edge of his bat, the ball shattered his stumps. Vaibhav couldn't believe his luck and was left disappointed and heartbroken at the manner of his dismissal. The clip of Suryavanshi's wicket was shared by fans on X, and within no time it went viral on the internet. Golden Duck for Vaibhav Suryavanshi vs ENG U19 — Varun Giri (@Varungiri0) July 23, 2025 While Suryavanshi was a big flop on Wednesday, Mhatre kept India's chances alive by scoring 124 runs from just 80 balls with the help of 13 fours and six sixes. He completed his century in just 64 balls and added 100 runs for the second wicket with Vihaan Malhotra (27 runs from 40 balls) in 13.4 overs and 117 runs for the third wicket with Abhigyan Kundu (65 runs from 46 balls) in 12.5 overs. The century on Wednesday is Mhatre's second century in youth Tests. In the first innings of the first youth Test played at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham last week, Mhatre scored 102 runs from 115 balls. In the first innings of the ongoing match, he scored 80 runs from 90 balls with a strike rate of 88.89. Mhatre, who is 18 years old, scored a total of 206 runs in the second youth Test from just 170 balls, and his strike rate in the game was 121.17. The batting strike rate of 121.17 helped Mhatre equal former New Zealand captain and star batter Brendon McCullum's 24-year-old batting record. During the 2001 New Zealand-South Africa youth Test played in Lincoln from February 4 to 7, McCullum also scored more than 200 runs in the match with a strike rate of 100+. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. FIDE Women's World Cup: Divya Deshmukh storms into finals
Agency: PTI Batumi (Georgia), Jul 23 (PTI) International Master Divya Deshmukh stormed into the final, defeating former world champion Zhongyi Tan of China in the second game of the semifinals and winning the mini-match 1.5-0.5 in the FIDE Women's World Chess Cup here on Wednesday. In the process, Divya became the first Indian to make it to the Candidates' tournament. The stakes are high here as the final berth also ensured her entry in the women's Candidates' tournament next year that will decide the challenger to Wenjun Ju, the reigning women's world champion. Having already eliminated second seed Zoner Jhu of China and then compatriot Grandmaster D Harika in the quarterfinals, Divya continued to be the giant slayer of the event and her game against Tan was a testament to her growing chess skills. With the Indian boys making a great headway at the top of the chess world, it was already time for the girls to have a say and Divya is the new girl on the block after R Vaishali. It was tricks and strategy at display by Divya as she converted to an Alapin Sicilian as white and her time exchange of Bishops for knights guaranteed a pawn plus endgame. Tan had her chances in the middle game but the former women's world champion did not make use of them and at some point simply missed the thread of the position. As the endgame arrived, Divya had a couple of extra pawns to coast but Tan remained resourceful right till the end of the game. Divya had an outside passed pawn after the dust subsided and it should have been an easy picking, but the fortunes fluctuated a lot. For the record, the game lasted 101 moves. In the second semifinal, Koneru Humpy drew with top seed Tingjie Lei of China. Playing white, Humpy faced the Slav defense and went for the iconic exchange variation that normally yields to either equal or giving white the better prospect. The opening yielded nothing special for Humpy but she got the Bishop pair against two knights to prepare for an advantage. The Queens were traded as early as on 19th move and the payers eventually reached a rook and pawn endgame wherein the Indian enjoyed an extra pawn. However, with the extra pawn not so relevant, Lei stayed in the loop as the position was not changing much. The draw was a just result when Humpy had just one extra pawn remaining in the rook and pawns endgame and the point was split after 75 moves. Humpy will now play the tie-breaker against Lei in shorter format.
