What's behind the ‘Travis Kelce breaks up with Taylor Swift' trend?

Arab Times09-04-2025
LOS ANGELES, April 9: Rumors about a potential breakup between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have been circulating online, leaving fans concerned about the status of their relationship. The speculation gained traction after the couple kept a low profile following Kelce's team, the Kansas City Chiefs, losing the Super Bowl title to the Philadelphia Eagles in February.
However, fans need not worry, as these rumors are false. According to a recent report, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are still very much together and deeply in love. The couple's decision to step back from the public eye recently fueled the breakup speculations, especially since both stars have been focused on their respective careers. Swift has been busy wrapping up her Eras Tour and attending the Grammys, while Kelce has been preparing for Super Bowl 2025.
A source told US Weekly that the couple's break from the spotlight is simply due to their hectic schedules and a need for some rest. 'Taylor and Travis are doing great, and they're still very much together and in love. They're just taking a break from the public eye,' the source shared. 'They're enjoying some R&R after working their butts off, making the most of their time off.' The insider added that the couple is looking forward to enjoying a 'normal life' after a whirlwind few months.
Both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have frequently been in the public eye, with their outings, from dinner dates to clubbing, often making headlines. The couple recently garnered attention again after a clip from Coachella 2024 went viral, showing them strolling hand-in-hand.

10-year-old ballad tops all Taylor Swift tracks in streams

LOS ANGELES, July 13: A decade-old indie ballad by Los Angeles band Lord Huron has quietly become one of the most-streamed songs in the world, surpassing even the biggest recent releases by global superstars like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Dua Lipa. Originally released in 2015 as the closing track on Lord Huron's second album Strange Trails, the melancholic "The Night We Met" remained largely under the radar for years. But in 2024, it claimed the 35th spot on Billboard's global end-of-year singles chart — higher than Dua Lipa's Houdini (No. 37) and Beyoncé's Texas Hold 'Em (No. 41). In the UK, it ranked 60th for the year, outpacing Charli XCX's biggest single. Even more impressively, the track recently crossed the 3-billion-stream mark on Spotify — a feat unmatched by any Taylor Swift song — and has amassed an additional 3 billion views on TikTok, according to music data tracker Chartmetric. Lord Huron frontman Ben Schneider, speaking about the song's success, called it 'unbelievable.' 'It wasn't a hit at first. Years passed and nothing much happened. But then things just started to take off,' Schneider said. That turning point came in 2017, when 'The Night We Met' featured in the Netflix teen drama 13 Reasons Why. Schneider was initially hesitant, but his wife encouraged him to say yes. While the song experienced a brief spike in popularity after airing, it didn't fade — instead, its popularity steadily grew. 'I figured it'd fade quickly,' he recalled. 'But it just kept building. It's had this weird, unheard-of long tail.' A duet version with Phoebe Bridgers followed in 2018, but it was TikTok that truly fueled the song's resurgence. In 2024 alone, it garnered nearly 1 billion Spotify streams — a 57% increase over the previous year. Its emotionally raw lyrics — 'I had all and then most of you / Some and now none of you' — have made it a go-to track for emotional TikToks and mood playlists. Yet its resonance goes beyond heartbreak. Influencer Molly-Mae Hague, for instance, used the song in her pregnancy reveal video in 2022. 'It's a vessel that fits a lot of people's personal stories,' Schneider explained. 'That's maybe why it's had such a lasting, slow-burning effect.' Importantly for the band, the song's viral success didn't trap them in one-hit-wonder status. By the time it exploded, Lord Huron had already cultivated a strong fanbase. 'Even though it far outstrips our other songs, we have enough going on not to be defined by just that moment,' he said. Now, the band is preparing to release their fifth album, The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, which continues Schneider's fascination with storytelling and parallel lives. The record is built around a fictional 1950s-style jukebox that can transport people to alternate realities. 'Not with regret,' Schneider said, 'but with wonder at how different life could be if small choices had gone another way.' Featuring a cameo from actress Kristen Stewart, the album introduces several characters who spin through this unpredictable 'magic jukebox' — an idea born out of Schneider's own reflections on chance, fate, and creative randomness. Lord Huron began as Schneider's solo project in 2010 but evolved into a full band known for blending Americana and indie-folk with haunting, cinematic storytelling. Looking back, Schneider now sees the 13 Reasons Why placement as a sliding doors moment in his career. 'I want to keep making new things, and hopefully something we create will resonate as deeply as that song,' he said. For now, The Night We Met remains a slow-burning miracle — a once-overlooked ballad that found a second life and struck a chord with a generation.

Trump is attending the FIFA Club World Cup final

WASHINGTON, July 13, (AP): President Donald Trump on Sunday will attend the FIFA Club World Cup final, a match that will offer Trump a preview of the globe's premier soccer tournament that North America will host next year. Trump and first lady Melania Trump will travel from their golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, to East Rutherford 40 miles (64 kilometers) away to watch the final match of the U.S.-hosted tournament between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea at MetLife Stadium. Trump's trip Sunday falls on the first anniversary of the assassination attempt he survived in Butler, Pennsylvania, while campaigning for president. The president did not have any public plans to mark the date beyond participating in a taped Fox News Channel interview with his daughter-in-law Lara Trump that aired Saturday night. Sporting events have made up the bulk of Trump's trips in the U.S. since taking office this year. In addition to his visit this weekend to the soccer tournament, he's attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans, the Daytona 500 in Florida, UFC fights in Miami and Newark, New Jersey, and the NCAA wrestling championships in Philadelphia. The president, who has a warm relationship with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, has said he plans to attend multiple matches of the World Cup tournament next year.

FIFA opens office in Trump Tower

FIFA opens office in Trump Tower Trump to attend Club World Cup final • Infantino thanks US president for 'big support' WASHINGTON/EAST RUTHERFORD: US President Donald Trump will attend Sunday's Club World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey, he said at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, as world soccer's ruling body FIFA announced it had opened an office in New York's Trump Tower. The expanded tournament featuring many of the world's best club teams has been widely seen as a dry run for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Sunday's Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium will be a preview of next year's championship match, with the home of the NFL's New York Jets and Giants also hosting the 2026 finale. 'I'll be going to the game,' Trump told reporters. The news came a day after FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the opening of a representative office at Trump Tower, where the Club World Cup trophy will be on display until the final. 'FIFA is a global organization and to be global, you have to be local, you have to be everywhere, so we have to be in New York,' FIFA president Gianni Infantino said at an event in Manhattan. 'So today, we are opening an office of FIFA here in Trump Tower.' FIFA already has offices in Miami and the move deepens ties between Infantino and US President Donald Trump. Infantino attended Trump's inauguration earlier this year, has appeared alongside the US President at the Oval Office and joined him on a recent visit to Qatar and Saudi Arabia. 'Thanks, of course, to President Trump as well, who is a big fan of soccer, (together with) the whole family,' added Infantino, who was speaking ahead of the semi-finals of the Club World Cup taking place at the MetLife Stadium just across the Hudson River from Manhattan. The first 32-team Club World Cup concludes this weekend, while the World Cup in June and July next year will be the first to feature 48 teams. Eleven of the 16 venues in 2026 will be in the United States, with three in Mexico and two in Canada. The final will take place in the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. 'We have received such a big support from the government and from the President with the White House Task Force for the FIFA Club World Cup and for the FIFA World Cup next year,' Infantino said before declaring the ongoing tournament 'an incredible success'. Trump has not shied away from sport's super-sized spotlight during his second term, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl in February, and in May announcing DC as the host for the 2027 NFL Draft from the Oval Office. His immigration crackdown and travel ban on 12 countries have prompted concerns ahead of the 2026 World Cup, however, even as Infantino offered assurances that the world will be welcomed in the US for the quadrennial global showpiece event. A memo obtained by Reuters last month showed that the Trump administration was considering significantly expanding its travel restrictions by potentially banning citizens of 36 additional countries from entering the US. — Agencies
