Tiny beach hut in trendy Welsh holiday hotspot dubbed 'Cheshire-by-Sea' goes on sale for £150,000

Daily Mail03-06-2025
A tiny hut on a trendy Welsh holiday hotspot dubbed 'Cheshire-by-Sea' has gone on the market for an eye-watering £150,000.
The bare-bones beach-side shelter is just 12ft long by 10ft wide - smaller than a standard parking space - and is made of corrugated iron.
Buyers won't even be able to stay in the cabin overnight as sleepovers are banned.
The changing hut has no furniture inside, with the only furnishings a stripy shower curtain and a few small signs.
But it holds stunning views over the seacape on the sandbanks beside Abersoch - a north Wales peninsula whose well-heeled staycationers include Coleen Rooney and Bear Grylls.
Just last month another sea-side plot went up for grabs for a stunning £100,000... and it didn't even include a cabin.
The shack's price-tag is only £8,000 short of the average cost of a terraced home in the county of Gwynedd - according to figures from the Office of National Statistics.
Estate agent Beresford Adams called it a 'fantastic opportunity to acquire a modern freehold bathing hut on this renowned beach in Abersoch.'
The tiny space measures just 12 by 10 ft - and is smaller than a standard parking space
They continued: 'This is a modern constructed hut built some four years ago lying about 200 yards towards the Yacht club end of the beach from Footprints Café down Golf Road.
'The hut lies along the sand dunes just slightly set back from the front line huts, enjoying magnificent views across Cardigan Bay to the Moorings and the St Tudwals Islands.
'The hut measures 12' 4' x 10' internally with a small mezzanine storage area and a changing cubicle. A timber Balcony 11' x 6' 9' with double wooden door entry.'
Coleen Rooney and her family make regular holiday trips to Abersoch, swapping the beaches of the Caribbean for North Wales most years.
In August 2023 she posted several family snaps of her children with the caption: 'Always the best time in Abersoch.'
Porth Mawr beach runs at nearly half a mile in length and is known among locals for its golden sand and is mainly backed by the dunes.
Explaining the lure of Abersoch, tourist body Visit Snowdonia said: 'There are three beaches at Abersoch - it's the main beach that holds the Blue Flag and the Seaside Award.

The hidden gem seaside town nestled in the UK with the ‘greatest' castle and local puffins

IF you're contemplating a UK break over the summer holidays, there's a town that you may not have heard of which is perfect - and it's one of Europe's top 50 hidden gems. Beaumaris in Wales took the tenth spot on an expert list of discovered destinations in Europe, thanks to its long pier, pretty beach and there's even a nearby island which is home to colonies of puffins. 4 4 According to holiday rental site Home to Go, Beaumaris is the tenth best hidden gem in the whole of Europe. The town is said to be ideal for "the explorer who's enchanted by rugged shorelines, medieval castles, and boat trips to wild islands". Beaumaris is a seaside town on the Isle of Anglesey, packed with charming pubs, cafes and beaches. Those looking for a more cultural break are also in luck, as it has a stunning castle dating back to the 13th century. It's known as the greatest ever built because it was the last of the royal strongholds created by Edward I in Wales – and perhaps his masterpiece. The castle is surrounded by a moat and has spellbinding views over Snowdonia, and tickets to look around it and the grounds are just £10.50 per adult. Beaumaris has a beach for those keen to get some steps in, but its not advisable for swimmers as it's near the Menai Straits - known for strong tidal currents. One visitor raved about the town on Tripadvisor: "Just beautiful! Love this place and would definitely recommend a visit for a relaxed atmosphere with stunning views." The up-and-coming English seaside town with cheap booze and huge beaches 4 Another added: "This small beach with backdrop of pastel painted houses has some absolutely stunning views of the mountains." Near the beach is Beaumaris Pier, which originally opened in 1846 and rebuilt in 1872. These days it's a popular spot for crabbing and has a small kiosk near the entrance where you can nab an ice-cream or hot drink, plus souvenirs and beach toys. From Beaumaris you can easily get to Puffin Island, an uninhabited area off the eastern tip of Anglesey, on one of the regular boat trips or cruises. It's a wildlife hub for Atlantic grey seals as well as puffins - and if you're lucky you might also get a glimpse of porpoises and dolphins in the surrounding waters. Although most definitely a hidden gem, Beaumaris also has the backing of Which? - which put it high on a list of the best seaside towns in the UK last year. The Welsh town came in 25th place with a reader vote of 74 per cent. Plus, the . And the Welsh seaside town named one of the cheapest places for a UK beach break – with hotels under £20 a night. 4

Rise of the haute beach hut — plus more trends to know

Find out what's heating up (and cooling down) in our weekly barometer of trends from fashion to pop culture. Right now the interiors set is going mad for the souped-up beach hut. For those in the know, it's all about location, location, location — and the smartest areas to buy are Mudeford, Dorset (the Mayfair of beach hut postcodes, where they go for £465,000), Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk and Southwold in Suffolk. But how to decorate once you've got hold of one? Traditionalists will go for New England coastal chic, with timber cladding in sunshine hues, like the Happy Huts' Beach Hut 113, Wells-next-the-Sea. For a more contemporary take, see Amy Bannerman, eBay's head of preloved, who recently transformed her own Hastings hut. Working with Louisa Tratalos, of the fabric company Colours of Arley, she used stripy fabrics and offcuts to give the space a refresh, complete with a curtain for wetsuit changes, bright cushions and a kitchen skirt that's more boho than cringe. Order bespoke fabric from Choose your colour combos (fabrics from £85) and the company will sort the striping and sizing. Or go for the surf shack/Scandi vibe, as seen in Jo Lowery's Cool Coastal Huts in Essex. Its matching fringed parasols and deckchairs have been dubbed 'an Instagrammer's dream' because — be honest — you'll definitely be showing off on social media while you're there.

Tesco shoppers have just DAYS left to double the value of their Clubcard points just in time for the summer holidays

TESCO customers have just days left to get their hands on an extra £10 in Clubcard points, just in time for the summer holidays. Shoppers have until July 29 to exchange £5 worth of Clubcard vouchers with one of Tesco's Days Out Reward Partners. 1 These include big-name attractions such as Cadbury World, Thorpe Park, Legoland Windsor and The London Eye. Meanwhile, if you live in Wales then you can exchange your points for a WWT annual membership or trip to Tenpin bowling. Once you have done so 1,000 worth of Clubcard points will be added to your account by October 19. To get the deal, you need to exchange at least £5 worth of Clubcard points with a rewards partner. To do so simply sign into the Tesco grocery and Clubcard app or go to 'My Clubcard account'. Next browse the reward partners and choose one you would like to spend your vouchers with and complete your order. The bonus is limited to one reward per Clubcard membership, which means even if you make more than one exchange, you will still only get one £10 top up. Meanwhile, if you have joined your Clubcard account with a spouse or other family member then you will only get one bonus in this promotion. The offer does not apply to entertainment partners including Cineworld, Disney+ or Picturehouse. The deal is the latest in a series of offers aimed at helping Tesco customers to make their money go further. Earlier this year the major supermarket was offering triple points to customers who exchanged their points with select reward partners. To be eligible customers simply needed to make a qualifying purchase from the Tesco Marketplace between May 13 and June 4. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's recently gave Nectar customers triple points on selected brands in a limited-time deal. Plus, Lidl regularly hands out digital coupons for £10 off a £40 shop to customers. How to save money on your food shop Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save hundreds of pounds a year: Odd boxes - plenty of retailers offer slightly misshapen fruit and veg or surplus food at a discounted price. Lidl sells five kilos of fruit and veg for just £1.50 through its Waste Not scheme while Aldi shoppers can get Too Good to Go bags which contain £10 worth of all kinds of products for £3.30. Sainsbury's also sells £2 "Taste Me, Don't Waste Me" fruit and veg boxes to help shoppers reduced food waste and save cash. Food waste apps - food waste apps work by helping shops, cafes, restaurants and other businesses shift stock that is due to go out of date and passing it on to members of the public. Some of the most notable ones include Too Good to Go and Olio. Too Good to Go's app is free to sign up to and is used by millions of people across the UK, letting users buy food at a discount. Olio works similarly, except users can collect both food and other household items for free from neighbours and businesses. Yellow sticker bargains - yellow sticker bargains, sometimes orange and red in certain supermarkets, are a great way of getting food on the cheap. But what time to head out to get the best deals varies depending on the retailer. You can see the best times for each supermarket here. Super cheap bargains - sign up to bargain hunter Facebook groups like Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK where shoppers regularly post hauls they've found on the cheap, including food finds. "Downshift" - you will almost always save money going for a supermarket's own-brand economy lines rather than premium brands. The move to lower-tier ranges, also known as "downshifting" and hailed by consumer expert Martin Lewis, could save you hundreds of pounds a year on your food shop. The schemes offer vital help to families struggling to keep up with rising food prices. Food price inflation rose for the third consecutive month in June, piling further pressure onto families struggling to make ends meet.
