Almond Vosotros out to repay 'second chance' at TNT
Almond Vosotros is not taking any opportunity for granted and sees every minute on the floor with TNT as a chance to prove he still belongs on the big league.
The 35-year-old guard parted ways with the Tropang 5G in April, but was brought back in late May to reinforce a depleted TNT backcourt reeling from injuries to key playmakers Jayson Castro, Rey Nambatac, and Jielo Razon.
Recently, another veteran court general Simon Enciso went down with an eye injury and had already missed a couple of games in their ongoing PBA Philippine Cup finals duel against San Miguel.
And when Vosotros got the green light, and he delivered.
With San Miguel looking to slam the door on TNT's Grand Slam dreams in Game 5, Vosotros, a former 3x3 specialist, answered the call and provided the spark.
He fired a triple and then completed a layup to cap off a 13-2 TNT run to open the fourth, foiling a comeback attempt from the Beermen.
He then dished out an assist that led to a Jordan Heading three-pointer as TNT established a 77-59 cushion halfway through the frame. He finished with 11 points to go with one rebound, two assists, and a steal to help TNT revive its flickering grand slam hopes alive.
"Unang-una ayokong masayang 'yung opportunity na binibigay sa akin ni Coach Chot [Reyes] at ng TNT. As in, bibihira 'yung mabigyan ng second chance so hangga't may opportunity na makakatulong ako sa team, gagawin ko," Vosotros said.
"Lagi naman kaming sinasabihan ni Coach Chot na hangga't may pag-asa talagang lalaban lang kami palagi. Kung may opportunity na makabalik kami ngayong series, 'yun lang 'yung focus namin."
Vosotros shared he signed only a two-month contract with TNT, or only until the end of this month, that's why the former 13th overall pick is making the most of his time with TNT.
"Sa totoo lang, sa lahat ng experience ko sa 5-on-5 ngayon lang ako nabigyan ng opportunity, ngayon lang ako nabigyan ng minutes since nagpa-draft ako," he added.
"So sobrang thankful ako kay Coach Chot na ayun nga, binigyan ako ng second chance tapos ngayon I'm playing in the finals. Ayoko lang masayang 'yung opportunity."

'Unexpected' Finals MVP award just a bonus for Jericho Cruz
PBA Philippine Cup. July 25, 2025. Jericho Cruz (39) of the San Miguel Beermen against Calvin Oftana of the TNT Tropang 5G. (Photo: PBA Media) San Miguel's Jericho Cruz has been one of the names usually heard over the course of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals series. His name has been involved in a post-game fuss back in Game 3 of the finals where he was allegedly 'showboating' in which he denied. But more than that, Cruz has been one of the consistent players for the Beermen for the finals series as he finished with 13.83 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.33 assists per game to help San Miguel win the All-Filipino crown. With his strong showing in the series, Cruz was named as the Most Valuable Player of the finals which is the first in his career. For him, it was an unexpected one and was just cherry on top of the championship. "Yung championship na 'to, sobrang sarap kasi kakabalik lang ni Coach Leo [Austria]. Nanalo rin ako ng award which is bonus lang naman. 'Di ko maisip, 'di ko maipinta ang words na dapat sabihin ko ngayon," Cruz said in the post-game conference. "'Di ko in-expect pero binigay sa akin kaya maraming salamat," he said in a separate interview. He also clarified that there is no bad blood with him and TNT officials such as manager Jojo Lastimosa. "Shoutout pa rin sa Talk 'N Text kasi hard fought series. Shout out din kay Coach Jolas, alam niya naman na mahal ko 'yan, and Coach Chot [Reyes]... At the end of the day, it's just basketball. Tapos na 'yun, move on na and prepare for the next conference," he said. After a grueling series, Cruz is also expected to join Guam in the FIBA Asia Cup. However, he revealed having some knee issues and will still determine if he will join the tournament. "Pag-isipan ko in the next two days if papahinga ako or tutuloy ako," he said. —JKC, GMA Integrated News

(Photo: PBA Media) The San Miguel Beermen are once again kings of the PBA Philippine Cup. San Miguel reclaimed the All-Filipino crown after dispatching TNT in Game 6 of the finals, 107-96, on Friday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig. The victory also officially ended TNT's bid for a Grand Slam season. The Beermen led 52-47 at the half before eventually pulling away in the second half as they outscored the Tropang 5G, 34-20. In the said quarter alone, June Mar Fajardo scored 10 points, while Jericho Cruz drilled two from beyond the arc to build on his nine points in the said frame. San Miguel then continued to hold off the Tropang 5G en route to the title. The Beermen last won the All-Filipino crown in 2022 as they fell to the Meralco Bolts in the 2024 season. This is also San Miguel's 30th overall title in the PBA. —GMA Integrated News

San Miguel still optimistic despite Game 5 loss
PBA Philippine Cup. July 23, 2025. June Mar Fajardo of the San Miguel Beermen against Kelly Williams of the TNT Tropang 5G. (Photo: PBA Media) The San Miguel Beermen vowed to bounce back despite falling short of closing out the series against TNT in Game 5 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals. San Miguel lost to TNT, 86-78, which extended the best-of-seven series to Game 6. "Sobrang flat ng start namin, dami naming lapses," 12-time Best Player of the Conference June Mar Fajardo said. "Up pa rin naman kami sa series so positive lang kami," he added as the Beermen hold a 3-2 lead. For Jericho Cruz, however, TNT seemed to be the hungrier team as the Tropang 5G went all out against the Beermen. "Pinakakulang namin 'yung effort talaga kasi 'yung effort namin, walang-wala sa effort nila. Kumbaga 'yung effort namin to the highest level. Kami parang up and down, up and down," Cruz said. Fajardo, meanwhile, said TNT should not be taken lightly, especially with their Grand Slam hopes still alive. "Hindi mo basta babalewalain 'yung TNT. Champion team 'yan, back-to-back champion, 'di mo talaga sila puwede maliitin. Kailangan talaga ilabas namin ang 100% sa games." Game 6 of the series will be played on Friday. —JKC, GMA Integrated News
