Soulja Boy arrested on suspicion of weapon possession after LA traffic stop
The rapper, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, was detained on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident occurred at around 2.30 a.m. Sunday morning. According to the LAPD, Way, 35, was a passenger in the vehicle when he was arrested.
He was booked into jail in the Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire Division a little after 6 a.m., according to the sheriff department's inmate database.
Additional information on what prompted the stop and who else was in the vehicle was not immediately available, police said.
The Chicago hip-hop artist is best known for his 2007 single 'Crank That (Soulja Boy),' which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and brought him a Grammy nomination for best rap song.
Way, 35, was ordered to pay more $4 million in damages in April after being found liable for sexually assaulting and physically and emotionally abusing a former assistant.
A representative for Way did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.
During a 2021 interview with Paper, the rapper was dismissive of other people's opinions about him, telling the outlet: 'I got so much money, bro, I don't care.
'I just find that the game is whatever you want to make it. It's whoever you respect. Who cares? Man, I don't care. I know where my place in hip hop is. I know what I did for the culture. I know how lit I am.'
He added: 'The people are going to figure it out when they figure it out. I don't really care about your opinions and assumptions anymore, because I now understand that people don't know what they are talking about.'

Spirit Airlines pilot ‘removed from duty' after being arrested for stalking teenagers, officials say
A Spirit Airlines pilot who was allegedly stalking teenagers was arrested at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and "removed from duty" by the airline. The charges related to Olathe, Kansas, a town in Johnson County. According to the court documents, Cipolla lives in Kansas City, Missouri, which is about 22 miles north of Olathe. However, officials have released few details of his alleged crimes. Spirit Air confirmed to the Guardian that it is "aware of a matter involving a pilot at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport ... which was unrelated to the performance of their job duties." 'The pilot was removed from duty pending our investigation into the matter,' the airline said in its statement. 'And we arranged for another pilot to operate the flight.' According to the Guardian, Cipolla joined Spirit in 2022 and spent time in the U.S. military. Spirit has faced other connections to sex-crime arrests in recent days. One of the airline's passengers — a registered sex offender — was recently arrested for groping a teenage girl sitting next to him. John Daniel Fowler, 65, of Indiana, told police that he had merely been reaching down to help right the thermos of the 17-year-old girl in the next seat after it tipped over. He reportedly tried to talk to the teen, but she didn't want to. A criminal complaint alleges that after falling asleep under a blanket, the teen awoke to find Fowler's hand underneath her blanket rubbing her crotch. Fowler was charged the same day with abusive sexual contact aboard an aircraft. If he's convicted, he faces three years in a federal prison. On top of the charge, prosecutors may push for a 10-year enhancement for having committed a new crime while a registered sex offender.

Clintons ordered to testify in Epstein investigation
Former president Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary have been subpoenaed as part of an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's criminal activities. As part of an enquiry into Epstein's links to high-profile figures, the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee requested depositions from the Clintons and also asked the Department of Justice (DoJ) for files from its sex trafficking investigation into the paedophile financier. The letter to Mr Clinton details his ties to Epstein, including his close relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell, his former girlfriend who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking. 'By your own admission, you flew on Jeffrey Epstein's private plane four separate times in 2002 and 2003,' it says. 'During one of these trips, you were even pictured receiving a 'massage' from one of Mr Epstein's victims.' The committee ordered Mrs Clinton to appear for a deposition on Oct 9 and the former president on Oct 14. 'Your family appears to have had a close relationship with both Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell,' the committee wrote in a subpoena cover letter to Mrs Clinton, the former US secretary of state. Donald Trump has been under intense pressure to release the DoJ files amid long-running conspiracy theories that Epstein was murdered in his jail cell in order to protect a powerful cabal of abusers. The committee's actions showed how even with lawmakers away from Washington on a month-long break, interest in the Epstein files is still running high. Mr Trump has denied any prior knowledge of Mr Epstein's crimes and cut off their relationship before allegations surfaced.
