Virender Sehwag, former Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings opener, was asked on the Cricbuzz show to predict the winner of the final. Sehwag gave a predictably unpredictable response.
The dashing opener predicted Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win the title, albeit with a twist.
Virender Sehwag predicted Gujarat Titans to win the eliminator and Mumbai Indians to win the Qualifier 2, and both those predictions turned out to be incorrect.
Sehwag said that he is applying the same logic. 'I supported MI to win the Qualifier 2; they lost. So I'm saying RCB will win. Let's see,' quipped the dashing opener.
One can expect Sehwag to have some soft corner for the Punjab Kings, with whom he reached the IPL 2014 final. His 122 off 58 in the Qualifier 2 game against CSK in 2014 remains the 2nd highest individual score in IPL playoffs.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field.

Mitchell Owen to debut as Australia name playing XI for 1st T20I vs West Indies
Mitchell Owen is set to make his international debut as Australia confirmed their playing XI for the opening T20I against the West Indies on Sunday, July 20 (Monday, July 21 in India) at Sabina Park, Kingston, who impressed with the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2024–25 Big Bash League and also featured for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, will bat in the middle order for Australia. He scored 452 runs in 11 BBL matches at an average of 45.20 and a blistering strike rate of 203.60. Across 48 T20 matches in his career so far, Owen has amassed 960 runs at an average of 25.26 and a strike rate of 186.40, including two centuries and two Fraser-McGurk will open the batting in place of the injured Matt Short, who has been sidelined with a side strain.
