Lewis Capaldi beams with Dolly Parton as he says meeting star was a 'dream come true'
Lewis Capaldi has been snapped posing for a picture with country music icon Dolly Parton. The Scots singer met the US star in Nashville while he performed a show there last week.
The Someone You Loved hitmaker shared the snap of the pair on Instagram as they both beamed for the camera. He captioned the photo: "Good golly, miss Dolly" as delighted fans rushed to the comments to share their excitement over the 'duo they didn't know they needed'.
Lewis' post sparked speculation that the pair may be collaborating on a new project. One wrote: "If this is a collab I won't be able to sleep until I hear it. All in favour?! Let's do this!"
Another chimed in: "If this is a collab, it'll hands down be the most unexpectedly brilliant thing to happen this year!!x" A third said: "I don't know whether i am more jealous of lewis or dolly." A fourth joked: "America's Sweetheart AND Dolly Parton !?"
It comes as Lewis made his return to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night on July 14 during his visit to New York City.
The 28-year-old shared an image of his name on the door of a dressing room at The Tonight Show to his Instagram Stories as he captioned it: "Tonight!!!"
Speaking about his run in with Dolly, he told host Jimmy: "She was great, she was lovely. She was so good and she really struggled to understand what I was saying I believe as most people in America do.
"She was very polite and it was a bit of a dream come true. It was like meeting the queen or something."
Lewis then cheekily added: "Better than meeting the queen actually, there I said it".
Humble as always about his brand new UK no.1 single Survive, Fallon announced to the audience that Lewis would be performing his latest track in the studio as the crowd cheered.
In true Capaldi fashion, the Scots star quipped back: "I wouldn't clap as it's currently underperforming in America."
Lewis dropped his new single last month just hours before his secret return to Glastonbury, two years on from his debut at the legendary music festival in 2023, which saw him unable to finish his performance due to his Tourette's Syndrome.
Reflecting on his meltdown on stage in 2023, Lewis said: "The first time did not go well. I had what the children would refer to as a bit of a menty B. A bit of a mental breakdown on stage. Nothing too serious.
"I have Tourettes so I used to tic quite a lot and I still do but I used to do this thing with my shoulder and it became really uncontrollable and I had a panic attack on stage at Glastonbury and I couldn't finish the song.
"It happened a couple of times at shows and stuff but I think because this one was so publicised and had so many eyes on it, it really made me think I need to go and get this sorted, I can't keep doing this to myself."
However, his return to the Pyramid Stage on June 27 after a two year break from the spotlight saw Capaldi come back with a bang.
Speaking about how he felt in the run up to it, Lewis said: "It was terrifying. In the lead up to it I was like this is horrific, I've made a terrible decision and then we did it and it was really beautiful and lovely.
"It went exactly as I hoped and it was probably the best day of my life - until I assume when I have a child I'll be like maybe, Glastonbury was still better."
It seems Lewis is now back for good, much to the delight of his fans after he announced a UK tour last week which sold out in just minutes.
The 28-year-old will play four dates in Scotland this coming September, with two nights at Aberdeen's P&J Live on September 10 and 11, and two nights at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on September 13 and 14.
Lewis told the audience on The Tonight show: "You can try and get tickets but they're sold out baby so fat chance."

Lewis Capaldi gives Scots chance to bag free tickets to sold-out tour - by visiting Greggs on this date
Fans have hailed Lewis Capaldi and Greggs' collab as "the most iconic British combo since tea met biscuits". Lewis Capaldi has made a triumphant comeback to the music scene with number one single 'Survive,' a performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and a sold-out tour - but he is giving back in a very special way. Last week, the Scots singer's eagerly awaited UK and Ireland arena tour sold out within minutes of extra dates being added. Due to the overwhelming demand, which fans snapped up in record time, he promptly added seven additional dates, but said that would be everyone's lot, as he is conscious of "pushing himself too far too soon". However, those who missed out on the star's comeback gigs might still be in luck. On Tuesday night, the 'Grace' chanter announced on Instagram that fans can bag a free pair of premium tickets to his sold-out UK tour. And how do fans go about it, you might ask? Well, music lovers are being asked to dress up as the hitmaker himself and get themselves down to one of five selected Greggs shops across the country to be in with a shout. But be warned - there are just 25 pairs up for grabs and it is first come, first served. Taking to the social media platform, Greggs official page explained: "Get yourself down to one of five selected Greggs shops in your BEST Capaldi cosplay to be in with a chance to nab the exclusive tickets. "With just 25 pairs available at each shop, only those who truly capture Lewis' iconic sense of fashion will be eligible to join the queue and have a chance to win..." Aptly, the competition kicks off in Lewis' hometown of Glasgow on Tuesday, July 22, from 6pm, when Greggs at 393 Sauchiehall Street will no doubt be inundated with Lewis lookalikes who hope to rock out to his tunes in person. The 28-year-old is set to play four dates in Scotland this coming September, with two nights at Aberdeen's P&J Live on September 10 and 11, and two nights at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on September 13 and 14. Salford's Gregg branch will host the lookalike contest on the same day as Glasgow, while Leicester Square in London and Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham will be next up on Wednesday, July 23 from 6pm. Fans' last chance will be at Meadowhall Retail Park Drive Thru in Sheffield on Thursday, July 24 from 6pm. Scots could be sporting anything from Lewis' classic black trousers and white tee combo, to his American flag ensemble from when the talent's hit single 'Someone You Loved' went to number one in the US in 2019. Afterwards the funny man and musician jokingly labelled himself"America's sweetheart". Followers of Lewis' career already can't get enough of his decision to team up with the much-loved food spot, known for their sausage rolls and Yum Yums. One fan wrote: "Capaldi cosplay AND Greggs? This is the most iconic British combo since tea met biscuits". Another wrote: "Sauchiehall St Greggs isn't ready for what I have planned". A third enthused: "This is so iconic, I love it!"

John Torode axed from MasterChef as allegations upheld
It comes after Torode confirmed he is the subject of an allegation of using racist language that was upheld as part of a review into the behaviour of co-presenter Gregg Wallace. Last night (Monday, July 14 ), Torode posted on Instagram confirming he was the person alleged to have used racist language but said he had 'no recollection of the incident' and was 'shocked and saddened' by the allegation. A post shared by John Torode (@johntorodecooks) Confirming Torode's exit, a Banijay spokesperson said: 'In response to John Torode's statement, it is important to stress that Banijay UK takes this matter incredibly seriously. Chip Gaines defends decision to include gay couple on 'Back to the Frontier' show
Television personality Chip Gaines defended the inclusion of a same-sex couple in 'Back to the Frontier,' a new show featuring him and his wife, Joanna, about families who give up technology and try to live as homesteaders did in the 1800s. The show features married couple Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs and their 10-year-old twin sons, sparking backlash from prominent religious conservatives online. Franklin Graham, the son of evangelical pastor Billy Graham, said in a post on social media that the casting of a gay couple is 'very disappointing.' 'While we are to love people, we should love them enough to tell them the truth of God's Word,' Graham said. 'His Word is absolute truth. God loves us, and His design for marriage is between one man and one woman. Promoting something that God defines as sin is in itself sin.' Gaines responded to the criticism in a social media post Sunday, encouraging people to ask questions and 'maybe even learn.' He added, 'It's a sad Sunday when 'non believers' have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian.' Gaines has responded to dozens of other critics in defense of Hanna and Riggs' inclusion in the show, quoting Bible verses and saying there are other TV shows critics could watch. In response to a critic who said 'we are extremely sad because of how much we have grown to admire and appreciate you both,' Gaines responded encouraging Christians to 'judge not' and 'love one another.' Hanna thanked Chip and Joanna Gaines in a post on his Instagram story Tuesday for 'leading with love, listening, and learning.' 'Representation matters deeply — especially for those who are still finding the courage to live their truth,' Hanna said in a longer post responding to the backlash from some conservatives. 'When families like ours are visible, it opens doors for others to feel safe, loved, and validated. Visibility isn't just about being seen; it's about making sure no one feels alone.' The couple has faced backlash before, but more often from those who support LGBTQ rights. They attend the Antioch Community Church, an evangelical church in Waco, Texas, which opposes same-sex marriage. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Joanna Gaines said accusations that the couple is racist and anti-LGBTQ are 'so far from who we really are' and that the criticism is 'the stuff that keeps me up.'
