Levitt leads Dutch to comfortable win over Scotland
Scotland suffered back-to-back defeats in their T20 Tri-Series as they lost out to the Netherlands by 17 runs in Glasgow.Dutch opener Michael Levitt was the standout performer, striking 90 off 57 deliveries in an imposing total of 198-7.Decent showings from Max O'Dowd (21) and captain Scott Edwards (31) helped boost the visitors' score, despite some solid fielding from the Scots - including a fine boundary catch from George Munsey to dismiss Vikramjit Singh.In reply, the Scots started slowly before makeshift opener Mark Watt ran himself out in the third over.Munsey fell to a controversial catch at backward square-leg - with the ball appearing to bounce before it reached fielder Aryan Dutt - and when captain Richie Berrington was dismissed for just two, the Dutch were well on top.Brandon McMullen was holding Scotland's chase together, but when he also fell to the part-time spin of Teja Nidamanuru for 51, they still needed more than 100 runs for victory.Michael Leask struck five mighty sixes to revive Scottish hopes on a surface better suited for quick scoring than Tuesday's low-scoring loss to Nepal.He was caught at long-on by Max O'Dowd off the bowling of Roelof van der Merwe to the delight of the men in orange.With 27 needed off the final over, Dutt restricted the Scots to just 10, securing a comfortable victory.Berrington's side face Nepal on Friday before travelling to the Netherlands for next month's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier. "We felt after the first innings we were in the game with the one short side," Berrington said. "On the whole, our execution was good at times, but not for long enough throughout the game."When Michael Leask is in the middle, you're always in with a chance, but one of us couldn't hang in there long enough."We've been playing some good cricket and this week is great preparation for the qualifier. That's where we want to be peaking."

Brendan Rodgers last night insisted Celtic still have 'a lot of work to do' in the transfer market — as he revealed he is not aware of any movement on a new deal for Daizen Maeda. The Parkhead boss saw his side hammer Newcastle United yesterday through an Arne Engels penalty and efforts from Johnny Kenny, Yang Hyun-jun and Liam Scales. New Japanese striker Shin Yamada, the club's sixth top-team signing of pre-season, was also paraded pre-match, but Rodgers is insistent that he needs more goals in his side and needs his team to be strengthened all across the front line before the end of next month. With Maeda now entering the last two years of his current contract, there have been rumours of a breakthrough on a new deal after a period of limbo amid interest in his services from elsewhere, but nothing concrete as yet. Celtic are on the trail of Royal Antwerp attacker Michel-Ange Balikwisha as well as being linked with Louis Munteanu of Romanian outfit Cluj — and Rodgers is clear on the fact plenty has to be addressed in terms of bolstering the squad in the wake of selling Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes for £10million in January and hauling in £17m from Como for Nicolas Kuhn earlier in the month. 'We've still got a lot of work to do, but the guys that are training and working with us are doing so well,' he said. 'You saw that today. 'I would expect us, by the end of the window, to have brought in players in certain areas of the pitch that we need to go through a really long season. 'I think it's about bringing goals to the squad. When you've just scored four goals, that seems to be OK, but we lost an important player in January in Kyogo and we've lost Nicolas Kuhn, a lot of goals again. Even Matt O'Riley last summer. 'Even though we scored a lot of goals last season, we still want more, and our ambition is to have more, so I think, all across the front areas, we have to be active in order to give us that depth.' Asked if there had been any progress on negotiations with Maeda and his advisors, Rodgers replied: 'Not that I'm aware of. But he's a professional and his focus is very much on here.' Despite looking for added striking power, Rodgers has stated that new boy Yamada will bring more pace to the team than buzzbomb Maeda. 'His profile suits how we play,' he said. 'He's one of the quickest players from the Japanese league. He's even quicker than Daizen and Kyogo in terms of statistics, and that's how we play, with that speed in the top line. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can bring.' Rodgers was also delighted to see Kieran Tierney, who set up Scales for his goal with an excellent cross, receive a thunderous reception when coming on in the second half. 'I wanted him to get a specific welcome back, because, at his age, he could easily be playing at the top end of the (English) Premier League,' he said. 'To get a player of that level is amazing for us.'

Most were bought during the ex-Celtic midfielder's five-season stint at then-Premier League side Southampton. Documents reveal that Armstrong, 33, set up his Glasgow-listed real estate firm back in 2017. It now has investment properties worth £3,439,204 in total. A source said: 'Stuart has had a glittering career that has seen him spend years in the top flight of English football. 'But he has maintained links to his homeland, despite a move that has seen him play elsewhere for the last seven years. He appears to have invested his earnings very wisely.' Accounts show Armstrong bought a flat in Aberdeen's West End for £126,000 in 2018. The same year he paid £415,00 for a place in Edinburgh's Newington area. He also bought a flat in the capital's affluent Marchmont for an unknown sum. Three homes in Glasgow's West End were snapped up for £560,000, £263,000 and £186,000 between 2018 and 2023. One in St Andrews cost £596,000. The second, bought in September 2023, was £373,000.
