Falcon Makes First European Appearance at EBACE 2025
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, May 19 (Bernama) -- With EBACE 2025 just days away, Falcon, part of Alex Group Investment, is getting ready to welcome visitors at its booth during Europe's leading business aviation event, taking place from May 20 to 22 at Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland.
This will be Falcon's first time exhibiting at a European aviation show, where the company will introduce its full range of aviation services to the European market. The head of state explained that one of the key pillars of national energy independence is the utilisation of solar power. President Prabowo stated that the battery technology to be produced in Karawang will play a vital role in efficiently storing and distributing solar energy. "Solar power's key lies in battery technology, and today we are witnessing that development,' he remarked. According to the report he received, the current capacity generated at the facility stands at 15 gigawatts. However, to achieve full energy independence, Indonesia will need around 100 gigawatts. "This means we need to multiply projects like this, and I believe our nation is capable of doing so,' Prabowo stated. The electric vehicle battery industry project is a collaboration between the state-owned mining company ANTAM, the Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), and a consortium of CATL, Brunp, and Lygend (CBL). The project covers upstream to downstream processing and consists of six sub-projects, five of which are located in East Halmahera, North Maluku, and one in Karawang. As part of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), the project investment totals US$5.9 billion and covers an area of 3,023 hectares. It is expected to create up to 8,000 jobs and support the development of 18 infrastructure projects, including a multifunctional port. - Bernama-ANTARA

LABUAN: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, has urged Labuan Corporation (LC) to shift its focus beyond basic municipal services and actively facilitate community empowerment. Speaking to Bernama after a meeting with LC's top management, she emphasised the need for the corporation to play a pivotal role in improving socioeconomic conditions. 'Labuan Corporation must act as a facilitator to empower the socioeconomic well-being of the people, including addressing food security and the high cost of living on the island,' she said. Dr Zaliha stressed that governance and integrity should form the foundation of local authority operations. Despite Labuan's high GDP per capita, driven by oil and gas as well as finance sectors, Dr Zaliha noted that this economic strength has not significantly benefited ordinary residents. She highlighted the importance of reducing food import dependency by boosting local production of essentials like poultry, meat, eggs, and vegetables. Additionally, she pointed to the upcoming Borneo Flora Festival as an opportunity to stimulate economic activity in hospitality, transportation, and homestay sectors, ensuring broader community participation. Dr Zaliha urged LC to evolve into a dynamic force for inclusive growth, leveraging tourism and infrastructure to ensure prosperity reaches all residents.

SST Expansion: No Big Impact On Parents Sending Children To Private Kindergarten
KUALA LANGAT, June 29 (Bernama) -- The expansion of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) will not have a significant impact on parents who send their children to private nurseries, kindergartens or preschools, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. She said this was because the service tax would only apply to operators imposing annual tuition fees exceeding RM60,000 per student. 'The public need not worry, as it is understood that most private institutions currently do not charge fees that reach the RM60,000 threshold per year,' she told reporters after the Anjung Sinar 2025 Programme appreciation ceremony here today. Nancy also reminded entrepreneurs not to capitalise on efforts to strengthen the country's fiscal position and broaden the tax base in ways that would burden parents. 'We hope they (business operators) will act honestly to help parents so that they are able to work. Operators must also remember that people need their services, so do not charge excessively,' she said. The six per cent service tax, which will be imposed from July 1 on educational services including private preschools and schools, will not apply to Malaysian citizens with disabilities. At today's programme, Nancy presented awards to five outstanding icons of the Anjung Sinar Programme by Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN), representing the education, leadership, community, career and volunteer categories. The icons were selected based on their achievements and significant contributions over the three years they were mentored and guided through the comprehensive approach offered under the Anjung Sinar Programme, which began in 2023. --BERNAMA
