On July 26, Analyst for NFL Network, Manti Te'o, ranked Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman as the 9th-best linebacker in the league to enter the 2025 NFL season. A week later, we hear Perryman is arrested for possession of an assault weapon–his first felony charge.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ Sports that Perryman was picked up by the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station officers on Friday evening. He was booked on a felony charge of possessing an assault weapon.
Two
AR rifles
and three handguns
On August 2, ABC7 Los Angeles reported that Denzel Perryman was taken into custody just after 9.30 p.m. in Inglewood after deputies pulled him over along Manchester Avenue and Hindry. The police stopped the 32-year-old on his way to the gun range.
When they searched his car, they found two AR rifles and three handguns in his trunk. The rifles are illegal in California(stringent gun control laws). TMZ Sports reported that as of Saturday morning, Perryman was still in jail.
He is due in court on Tuesday.
Linebacker was extremely cooperative with deputies
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports – 'NFL player, Denzel Perryman, was arrested by South Los Angeles Station deputies on Friday, August 1, 2025. Deputies conducted a traffic stop of Mr. Perryman's vehicle for vehicle code violations. During their investigation, Mr. Perryman was arrested for multiple weapons violations. Mr. Perryman was extremely cooperative with deputies throughout the investigation.
'
Seven reasons why Denzel Perryman was a Top 10 Linebacker
According to NFL Analyst Manti Te'o, Denzel Perryman ranked as the 9th-best linebacker in the league. Te'o, a former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker, enlisted the following seven reasons:
Perryman plays like Ray Lewis(former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and Hall of Famer)
Uncanny ability to sit while the ball is snapped, then shoot out of a cannon and meet the ball in the backfield
2025 would be the linebacker's 11th NFL season
Underrated player due to a lengthy injury history
In 2021, the linebacker logged 154 tackles
Pro Bowl with the Las Vegas Raiders
Reliable, hard-nosed, and hard-hitting defender.

Giannis Antetokounmpo still weighing future with Milwaukee Bucks amid roster questions and trade moves

Giannis Antetokounmpo is uncertain about the Milwaukee Bucks (Image via Instagram / @giannis_an34) Analyst Shams Charania recently opened up about Greek footballer and NBA giant, Giannis Antetokounmpo and his future with the Milwaukee Bucks. Given his uncertain future with the team, many believed it would be the basketball player's summer. Meanwhile, the analysts continued by saying that the legend is still reportedly considering the Milwaukee Bucks' squad and has not yet made up his mind about staying or leaving the team. Giannis Antetokounmpo remains undecided about his future with the Milwaukee Bucks despite roster changes In a recent interview, while talking about Giannis Antetokounmpo and his future with the Milwaukee Bucks, Shams Charania said: 'What is the latest on his future with the Milwaukee Bucks? So Pete, I'm looking at the date. We're standing here. It's August 4th, right? Sources tell me there's still nothing set in stone about whether Antetokounmpo will stay in Milwaukee or whether he will be leaving…' Further talking about the Greek NBA player, he continued: 'I reported it in mid-May that he's evaluating whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it elsewhere.. There's been some very real conversations over the last week or so. The constant question that Giannis has, though, is Can I win a championship with this roster? Is this roster going to be won for this upcoming year and 2026-27? He wants to win a second championship…' Shams Charania then went on: 'There are multiple teams waiting in the wings, potentially… He has not asked that question in late June or early July before free agency. This is a very tough decision for him, though. This is 12 years he's spent there. There's a lot of equity there…' He finally concluded: 'This type of move isn't going to be easy because this is a Milwaukee Bucks organization… They wanted to show Giannis we're doing everything in our power to keep you here. But Giannis ended as the ultimate decider whether he feels this roster is good enough…' Giannis Antetokounmpo in practice (Image via Instagram / @giannis_an34) Additionally, Shams Charania went on to say that although the Milwaukee Bucks made every effort to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo from leaving, he will ultimately make his own career decisions. \Meanwhile, the interview came after the team decided to extend Damian Lillard 's salary for the next five years, then waive him in order to free up cap space and acquire Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. Now it is yet to see what the Greek icon decides.
