Now park your vehicle at Oman airports for OMR1 daily
On the sidelines of the 2025 Logistics Day celebration, Oman Airports and its subsidiaries announced the launch of a series of new initiatives to support and enhance the logistics sector in the Sultanate.
Oman Airports' initiatives span multiple areas, most notably extending the special offer for long-term parking, at the cost of only OMR 1 per day, from April 30 to September 30, 2025, in line with the autumn season.
Oman Airports also announced various offers and discounts through the "Souq Oman" store for local products, including dates and Omani sweets.
A "shop and collect" service has also been introduced at the duty-free market, enabling passengers to shop online and collect their purchases before takeoff or upon arrival.
As for the initiatives of the companies affiliated with Oman Airports, Transom Handling offered a 5 percent discount on entry fees to the Majan Lounge at Muscat International Airport during the period from April 30 to May 29, 2025.
Oman SATS also offered a 50 percent discount to freight forwarders on exports of perishable shipments at Muscat International Airport, to support the Sultanate's agricultural and fisheries sectors.
In the same context, and in line with our vision to enhance the Sultanate of Oman's position as a logistics hub, Oman SATS offers a 50 percent discount on re-exported (transit) shipments via Muscat International Airport.
The Sultanate of Oman celebrates Logistics Day 2025 as a fundamental pillar for achieving Oman Vision 2040 for economic diversification, and as an affirmation of the importance of the sector and its fundamental and pivotal role in strengthening the national economy.
The logistics sector's contribution to the GDP in 2024 amounted to approximately OMR 2.25 billion, while the volume of investment in the logistics sector in 2024 amounted to approximately OMR 2.3 billion. The expected contribution of the logistics sector in 2040 will amount to approximately OMR 36 billion.

Ali bin Hamed al Balushi and Ali bin Salem al Balushi walked day and night, trekked across mountains, hitchhiked and dared the desert sands during a journey that lasted eight nights and seven days. They interacted with people from different walks of life, mingled with strangers and often slept under the stars during their 1,000-kilometre journey. They ventured out on a different kind of expedition to attract the world's attention to several points, the first of which is that 'Oman is the safest country' to live in. Their journey was unique because they never took their cars on the roads but sought hitchhiking to reach from one point to the next, and walked and trekked at times during their journey to Salalah, which they accomplished in seven days. 'Besides sending out the message that our country, Oman, is beautiful and the safest country in the world, we wanted to urge our youth that nothing is impossible. Work your way out to achieve your goals in life rather than sitting idle,' said Ali bin Hamed al Balushi. Their journey was unique because they never took their cars on the roads but sought hitchhiking. Their journey began on Saturday, July 26. They travelled through roads, halted after several kilometres and stayed overnight with an Omani family. The next day, they hitchhiked to the next destination and so on until they reached Dhofar. 'Most importantly, we wanted to raise awareness against the menace of drugs and psychological substances and spark some thought process against the real danger that the world is facing today,' added Ali bin Salem al Balushi. Their mission was supported mainly by Hamed al Alami, a businessman who supports such noble causes. 'We visited homes in different wilayats, experienced Omani hospitality, and want the world to know that Omanis are highly hospitable. A visit to the country is worth it. One can not go back to their country without experiencing the true hospitality of Oman,' they said.

TAS to open nominations for inaugural 'HerStory Oman Summit Awards' honouring women leaders
MUSCAT – The announcement, made during a field tour of several private sector institutions, includes 150 positions at the Port of Salalah, developed under ongoing Omanisation and replacement plans, and an additional 450 jobs through operating companies affiliated with Nama Dhofar Services. Dhofar gets sesame cultivation project to boost food security
Salalah – Oman has launched a sesame cultivation project in Dhofar governorate as part of its efforts to enhance food security and reduce reliance on imports. A memorandum of understanding was signed between Specialized Integrated Food Company (Sifco) and the Omani Agricultural Association's Dhofar branch at Salalah Free Zone on Sunday. The agreement covers the cultivation of sesame in the Najd region and supports the national drive to link agriculture with food manufacturing. The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, and the Salalah Free Zone. In its first phase, the project will cover 600 acres and benefit 35 farmers. Production is estimated at 300 tonnes, with Sifco committed to purchasing the full harvest. Future expansion is under consideration. The sesame crop will supply Omani food manufacturers, particularly producers of tahini and halva. It is also used in cosmetics and traditional medicine. Dr Ali bin Mohammed Tabuk, CEO of Salalah Free Zone, said the project reflects the zone's strategy to encourage partnerships that connect investors with local producers. 'This initiative falls within efforts to support economic development by stimulating qualitative partnerships between investors and the local community,' he said. He added that the project supports sustainable development by building value chains based on local resources. 'The Salalah Free Zone seeks to empower industries based on local production and support integrated value chains,' he said. Officials said the project aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and national efforts to improve self-sufficiency in essential commodities. Sesame is considered well-suited to the desert environment of Najd and has high nutritional and commercial value. The agreement represents a joint effort between government agencies, the private sector, and local farmers. It also aims to support small and medium enterprises in the food industry by ensuring stable supply sources.
