ChatGPT has painted a new reality for how students hunt for information and learn off of the internet. Every single day, this AI chatbot handles over 2.5 billion prompts, making it practically indispensable for students worldwide.

What we're witnessing is a massive transformation in digital education and web browsing.
Data from Axios, backed up by
, shows that 330 million of these prompts come from the United States (US) alone. That works out to more than 912 billion requests each year. Google still dominates with roughly 5 trillion searches annually, but ChatGPT's meteoric rise hints that it might soon become crucial for students, teachers and anyone who loves learning.
Student adoption of AI changes everything
Students have embraced ChatGPT at breakneck speed. OpenAI's figures tell the story: 300 million weekly users in December 2023, jumping to 500 million just three months later. Most of these users are students on the free version, getting help with homework, essays and wrapping their heads around tricky subjects.
The numbers only tell part of the story though. Students aren't just using more AI - they're fundamentally changing how they learn.
Traditional search engines throw back lists of articles and websites. ChatGPT gives you straight answers, summaries and explanations. This chat-like approach has turned it into students' first port of call for quick, clear answers.
Research and learning will never be the same again
Students don't wade through endless search results anymore. Now they can chat with an AI that explains things plainly, sparks ideas and even helps with academic writing. This streamlined access to information, plus the ability to quickly grasp complex topics, lets students work more efficiently.

They've got more time left over for deeper thinking and creative work.
Need help with tough science concepts? Language learning? Historical summaries? ChatGPT breaks everything down into bite-sized, easy-to-digest explanations. It's become invaluable in classrooms and study sessions. The AI tailors its responses to what each student asks, delivering more targeted answers that boost both understanding and grades.
AI's support goes beyond just homework-help
OpenAI isn't stopping at basic question-answering. They're rolling out features like an AI-powered web browser, creating a new breed of digital assistant for more effective student research. ChatGPT Agent can actually perform tasks on users' computers, potentially helping students organise notes, manage study timetables or automate academic tasks.
These developments could reshape student life completely.
Imagine AI helping with time management or project planning - students could streamline their entire study routine, making academic life more organised and efficient.
Sam Altman's clear vision for what he wishes to make of AI
OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman champions making AI available to everyone, not just the privileged few. He's repeatedly stressed that tools like ChatGPT should empower students and learners globally, particularly in communities where quality education remains out of reach.
Altman's vision matches OpenAI's push for inclusive education.
Students in remote locations or those who can't afford expensive tutoring now have access to support and guidance that helps level the playing field. Whether it's solving math problems, explaining chemistry concepts or offering career guidance, ChatGPT increasingly bridges educational gaps, making learning more accessible and efficient for everyone.
As technology keeps advancing, the potential for students using AI to enhance their education seems limitless. Right now, ChatGPT's 2.5 billion daily prompts demonstrate its growing classroom influence and offer a preview of education's future.

Google Pixel 10 series: New colour options, design tweaks and more expected

Google may have accidentally revealed the entire upcoming Pixel 10 series. According to a report by Android Authority, a banner on the Google Play Store briefly showcased what appears to be the full Pixel 10 lineup before it was taken down. As per the report, the image displayed four models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Google Pixel 10 series: What to expect As per the report, the alleged banner of the Pixel 10 series showed all four models from the rear, revealing key design changes. Pixel 10 The standard Pixel 10 was reportedly shown in a new Indigo Blue colourway, with a design that largely resembles its predecessor. However, one key difference was in the horizontal rear camera module that now houses three camera sensors — up from the dual-camera setup seen on the Pixel 9. This aligns with previous reports suggesting that Google could add a telephoto lens to the base Pixel 10 model, possibly the same one used in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pixel 10 is expected to be powered by Google's next-generation Tensor G5 chip, like the rest of the series. Camera changes are also likely, with the primary sensor expected to match the one used on the Pixel 9a. That could represent a downgrade in resolution compared to the Pixel 9's main camera. Pixel 10 Pro Fold The Pixel 10 Pro Fold was reportedly shown in the same 'Moonstone' colour previously seen in Pixel 10 Pro teasers. This shade appears to be a mix of grey and blue tones. A separate report from 9to5Google also notes that the foldable may come in an additional Jade-and-Gold colour variant, with a green back and golden frame and camera module. While the design is expected to remain largely unchanged from its predecessor, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could receive some internal changes. These may include a primary and ultra-wide camera setup borrowed from the Pixel 9a, a larger 6.4-inch cover display (up from 6.3 inches), a bigger 5,015mAh battery, and support for the Qi2 wireless charging standard. Pixel 10 Pro / Pixel 10 Pro XL Google has already previewed the Pixel 10 Pro's design in an earlier teaser. The overall design appears unchanged from last year but could be offered in new colours like 'Moonstone' and a Jade variant with gold accents — similar to the Fold model. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is expected to carry the same design as the Pro model, but in a larger form factor with a bigger display.

Is Gemini responsible for Google Home glitches? Google CPO breaks the silence

Google is facing growing backlash from loyal smart home users as its Home and Nest devices continue to suffer widespread reliability issues. What began as scattered complaints on Reddit has turned into a full-blown user revolt. There have been multiple reports of Google Assistant failing to respond, executing the wrong commands or becoming entirely unusable for day-to-day tasks. Google Home users are fed up with broken routines and unresponsive devices.(Unsplash) The problems appear to stretch across both software and hardware. Users describe routines breaking down, speaker groups malfunctioning and smart devices like light bulbs and doorbells losing connectivity through the Google Home app. 'I ask it to turn off a fan, it shuts off all my lights. I ask for the weather, and it gives me updates from a city I don't even live in,' wrote one frustrated user. 'At this point, I'm genuinely wondering if Google is trying to phase out older hardware.' Many point to Google's ongoing transition to Gemini, its next-gen AI assistant platform, as the likely source of the chaos. While not officially confirmed, the timing aligns with a noticeable dip in performance across older Nest Hubs and smart speakers. The issue seems to be affecting core functionality, including voice recognition, room-specific commands and third-party device control. Adding fuel to the fire, a Reddit user reported that 90% of their Smart Life bulbs disconnected from Google Home, alongside failures with their eufy doorbell and Tapo cameras. These problems sparked widespread agreement across the community, suggesting the issue is far from isolated. In response to the mounting criticism, Google has broken its silence. Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Google Home and Nest, issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter), stating: 'Hey everyone, I want to acknowledge the recent feedback about Google Assistant reliability on our home devices. I sincerely apologize for what you're experiencing and feeling!' After weeks of complaints, Google confirms Assistant issues across Home devices(X) The company also acknowledged 'an issue with accessing some devices in the Google Home app' in a statement on Reddit, thanking users for their patience but offering no immediate fixes. The situation has sparked concern among long-time users who feel Google is neglecting its smart home ecosystem in favour of flashy AI upgrades. 'This isn't just about a glitch,' one user wrote. 'This is years of trust breaking down because the basics no longer work.' With Google promising updates later this fall, likely around the rumoured Pixel 10 launch, users are left waiting for a fix that many believe should have arrived months ago. Until then, the smart home dream for many Google users remains frustratingly broken.
