Indian Embassy Open House highlights community support, repatriation efforts

The Embassy of India organized an Open House yesterday, chaired by Ambassador HE Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob. The Embassy's consular team and panel of lawyers were also present.
More than 30 Indian nationals participated in the Open House, which was conducted in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.
The event began with a moment of silence in remembrance of the Pahalgam terror attack. Thereafter, the gathering was briefed on the cases raised during the previous Open House.
An Indian national who had been stranded in Bahrain for an extended period was repatriated with the Embassy's assistance. An Emergency Certificate was issued, and an air ticket was provided through the Indian Community Welfare Fund.
In another case, a woman who participated in an Open House received an Emergency Certificate, and her outstanding school fees were settled with the intervention of the Embassy. The Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the school principal and Malabar Gold & Diamonds for their support in clearing the dues.
The Embassy also issued an air ticket through the Indian Community Welfare Fund to a cancer patient traveling to India for further treatment.
In April, Embassy officials visited the Ladies' Prison and Jau Prison to meet inmates in person. Support kits were distributed to the inmates of the Ladies' Prison through the Indian Community Welfare |Fund.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Bahraini authorities, including the Ministry of Labour, LMRA, and Immigration authorities, for their swift assistance in consular and community welfare matters.
He also thanked the Embassy's panel of lawyers for their consistent participation and support in reviewing the cases presented, and appreciated the commitment of Indian community organizations and volunteers in helping distressed members of the Indian diaspora throughout the year.

Building democratic bridges Since its inception in 2000, the Speakers' Conference has aimed to strengthen the parliamentary dimension of global governance. This year's edition marks the culmination of two years of preparatory work by a committee comprising 20 parliamentary leaders from around the world. Alongside debates on digital futures and peace innovation, the forum will spotlight how legislatures can accelerate progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals through enhanced international cooperation. Global voice The event is expected to be the most inclusive and wide-ranging yet, drawing leaders from every region to shape future parliamentary action on issues of justice, equality, and sustainable development. His Excellency also thanked governorate officials for helping maintain communication and supporting development projects that align with community priorities. Future-Facing Traditions During the dialogue, residents reaffirmed their loyalty to the leadership and shared suggestions and concerns related to local services and development. Many said Bahrain's traditions are living values that continue to shape daily life and strengthen unity, especially as society adapts to technological and cultural shifts. As the meeting concluded, attendees expressed appreciation for the Minister's visit and described it as a meaningful gesture of national partnership in action.

Trump confirms deal sets 15% export tariffs on EU

TDT | Turnberry US President Donald Trump said yesterday that a trade agreement struck with EU chief Ursula von der Leyen sets 15 percent tariffs on exports from the European bloc. He told reporters in Scotland that the EU had committed to investing an extra $600 billion in the United States, as well as purchasing $750 billion worth of energy. 'We have reached a deal. It's a good deal for everybody,' Trump told reporters after talks with von der Leyen at his golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland. The EU chief also hailed it as a 'good deal'.
