‘Ted Lasso' Kicks Back Into Gear With Key Returnees, New Cast for Season 4

The fourth season of Ted Lasso is underway, with filming beginning Monday and the core of the show's cast returning. Several actors have also joined the Apple TV+ series, which will find its title character (Jason Sudeikis) taking on the coaching of a women's soccer team. After a long period of speculation about the show's future following its third season finale in May 2023, Apple officially ordered a fourth season in March. Sudeikis was the only castmember that Apple would confirm at that time, but producer Warner Bros. TV had previously picked up options for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift, who play, respectively, AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, player turned assistant coach Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins, Rebecca's right-hand man at the club. All three are returning, as are Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), who at the time of the season four pickup were in negotiations to reprise their roles. Along with the six returning actors, Ted Lasso will feature seven new actors in Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Netflix's Back in Action), Faye Marsay (Andor), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane, Enola Holmes 2) and Grant Feely. Feely will play Ted's son, Henry, taking over the role from Gus Turner, who played Henry in the previous seasons. Details on the other actors' roles are being kept quiet for now. Filming began Monday in Kansas City, Missouri, the hometown of both Sudeikis and Ted Lasso. Season three ended with Ted deciding to leave Richmond and return home to be closer to his son and ex-wife (Andrea Anders), while other members of the Richmond family were moving on to new parts of their lives. The coming season will follow Ted as he returns to Richmond (with the production also shifting to London) to coach a second division women's team. 'Throughout the course of the season,' the logline reads, 'Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.' Sudeikis, Hunt, Bill Lawrence and Joe Kelly developed Ted Lasso, based on a character Sudeikis played in a series of NBC Sports commercials for the English Premier League. They all return as executive producers for season four. Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This, 30 Rock) will also exec produce as part of a recently signed overall deal with Apple TV+, along with writers Goldstein and Leanne Bowen, and Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer of Lawrence's Doozer Productions. Sarah Waker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and co-EPs, and Sasha Garron is a co-producer. Julia Lindon is a writer, and Dylan Marron is story editor. Warner Bros. TV produces with Universal TV and Doozer. ‘Ted Lasso' Stars Surprise Fans Onstage at Mumford & Sons Concert

Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt led the band in a rendition of the show's theme song 'Ted Lasso' is coming back — but the Richmond crew isn't in England anymore. As Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt began filming for the fourth season of the Apple TV+ series in Kansas City, the group stopped by a Mumford & Sons concert to help sing their theme song. Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons co-created the theme song for the show alongside Tom Howe. The concert took place on July 24 at the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs — a suburb of Kansas City. At this point, Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple and Hunt took the stage, dancing and singing along. 'Mumford & Sons performing the Ted Lasso theme song LIVE with the crew of Ted Lasso in #KC #tedlasso' user @JillianC_arroll shared on X. You can view the performance below. On Monday, Apple TV+ shared a first look at the fourth season of 'Ted Lasso.' The teaser featured series regulars Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple and Jeremy Swift at what appears to be a midwestern diner. Swift did not join the group at the concert. In 2023, 'Ted Lasso' returned to Apple TV+ for a third season initially conceived as a potential series finale. The final episode of the third season was titled 'So Long, Farewell' and tied up a number of plot threads — including sending the Kansas-based Coach Lasso home after a successful final season with AFC Richmond. In March, Apple TV+ officially renewed 'Ted Lasso' for a fourth season, confirming the return of Sudeikis. In the new season, Coach Lasso will take the reins of Richmond's new women's team, which was established at the end of Season 3. Sudeikis, who grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, brings a lot of personal history to the midwestern character. 'Ted Lasso's' current Kansas City filming marks a homecoming for the 'SNL' alum and series co-developer. Based on the reactions in the video, the crowd at the Azura seemed thrilled to have him back. 'KANSAS CITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!' Sudeikis yelled to the crowd after the song. 'How lucky are they?' 'We're not in Richmond anymore': What we know about 'Ted Lasso' Season 4

Believe it — Season 4 of Ted Lasso has officially begun production, Apple TV+ announced this week. That's right, Coach Lasso, the show's beloved mustachioed and mild-mannered namesake, who helped guide audiences through a global pandemic with optimism and humanity, is back on the football pitch. Well, this calls for biscuits. Filming has officially kicked off in star Jason Sudeikis's (Ted Lasso) hometown of Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Quinton Lucas called it 'another major victory for the city's rapidly expanding film industry,' in a post on X in which he appears to be sporting a blue Ted Lasso hat. Additional filming is also set to take place across the pond in London. Apple TV posted a video on Instagram of Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Sudeikis gathered around what appears to be a booth at a traditional American restaurant as some of the key members of AFC Richmond get ready to film a scene. The accompanying caption reads: 'We're not in Richmond anymore. Ted Lasso Season 4 is now in production.' The streaming service confirmed back in March that there would be a fourth season. The show has won 13 Emmy Awards and has received a total of 61 Emmy nominations. Barbecue sauce. What can fans expect in Season 4? At the end of Season 3, Ted ends up returning to the U.S. after coaching the fictional AFC Richmond soccer team in London in order to be closer to his son, Henry. The streaming service indicates on its website what fans can expect in the highly anticipated new season: 'Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.' Do we know when Season 4 will be released or if there's an official trailer? So far, Apple TV+ says a release date for Season 4 is coming soon. No official trailer has been released yet, aside from this week's teaser. Which characters will return? Even though they're not pictured in the promo image, the wise Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) will be back. Grant Feely will replace Gus Turner as Ted's son, Henry. Other newcomers to join the cast in roles that have yet to be revealed include: Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Who is not returning? Fan-favorites like Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley) and Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt) along with Sarah Niles (Dr. Sharon Fieldstone), Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), James Lance (Trent Crimm), Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo) and Billy Harris (Colin Hughes) weren't named as regular returning characters in Season 4.
