Ning Baizura saddens by Ross Ariffin's passing
The 50-year-old singer said that Ross was a highly talented composer who had contributed significantly to her artistic journey, and expressed, "He was a very gifted artiste. I am deeply indebted to him for generously giving me several songs [in my early career], including the classic 'Kau dan Aku', which remains evergreen to this day."
"Kau dan Aku is a very special song to me. After 32 years, I still sing it. In fact, just last night, I had the chance to perform it," she said.
It is noted that the song won the Pop Rock category at the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) music awards in 1995.
Reflecting on the late composer, Ning described Ross, real name was Roslan Ariffin Jamil, as a quiet person who preferred solitude.
"Our relationship wasn't very close because he was rather shy and liked to keep to himself. We never went out together. He seemed like an introvert, but I greatly respected his work. When I heard of his passing, I was very saddened... He had been suffering for a long time," she said.
Earlier, news of Ross' passing was announced by the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, via a post on Facebook.
Among his well-known songs include Aishah's "Kemaafan Dendam Yang Terindah", Fauziah Latiff's "Dia", and Liza Aziz's "Semalam Ku Tolak Ke Tepi". He was 63.

The trailer opens with Fraser's character being shown performing in a series of over-the-top costumes, clearly miserable as he hopes for a different type of acting gig to come his way — only to be give the opportunity to "sell emotion," in the form of "playing roles in clients' lives" to "help them connect to what's missing." "I'm just an actor. I don't know how to help people," Fraser's character says, before he is told the agency needs "a token white guy" for the job. While he is originally hesitant about the idea, Fraser's character eventually steps in as a father figure to a girl named Mia — which begins with a tense first meeting, but evolves into something bigger. The 52-year-old and his current partner recently completed their marriage registration at a local district office and have informed those close to them, according to a report by Mydaily. 'The two have spent a long time together, during the good times and the tough times,' an insider told Mydaily. 'In particular, she has been a strong pillar of support when he has had difficult times personally or with work-related things.' The source added, 'I hope the two receive blessings as they overcome their hardships. More than anything else, Jung Woo Sung is worried about hurting his wife.' A black-comedy survival thriller starring Korean leading man Lee Byung-hun, Park's 12th feature, No Other Choice, will have its world premiere in competition at the 82nd Venice Film Festival before heading to Korea's biggest cinema event for its Asian debut.
