Bahraini high school students are set to gain handson exposure to artificial intelligence and financial education at 'THE TAKEOFF' exhibition later this month, as part of a new youth-focused initiative by the AlMabarrah AlKhalifia Foundation (MKF).
The exhibition, scheduled for June 28th, will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Zain bint Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairperson of MKF's Board of Trustees, and aims to equip students aged 16 to 18 with the skills and confidence to navigate today's fast-changing job market.
MKF has signed memorandums of understanding with Education Zone and Mubasher Capital, bringing together academic aptitude mapping through AI and practical insights into investment principles.
The event will feature interactive sessions, including AI-driven assessments to help teens identify their academic strengths and personalised career paths.
Mean while, Mubas her Capital will offer foundational workshops on finance and trading, designed to introduce participants to the workings of capital markets in a language young people can grasp.
Empowering Future Leaders 'At MKF, we strive to curate educational experiences that inspire innovation and leadership among young people,' said Her Highness Shaikha Zain. 'These partnerships represent a meaningful step toward equipping students with the resources and guidance necessary to shape their future with clarity and confidence.'
Rather than being a conventional university fair, 'THE TAKEOFF' blends career guidance, academic planning, and skill-building into one immersive event.
It reflects a wider shift in Bahrain's youth development strategy towards early preparation, leadership cultivation, and public-private collaboration. For more details about 'THE TAKEOFF', readers can visit www.mkfbh.org or contact MKF directly

Global Praise for Stablecoin Rules

TDT | Manama Bahrain's new stablecoin framework has received a major endorsement from Fitch Ratings, with the agency's Global Head of Islamic Finance calling it a landmark model for the region's digital economy, especially in the Sharia-compliant space. Bashar Al-Natoor praised the Central Bank of Bahrain's (CBB) initiative as a forward-looking move that strengthens the Kingdom's bid to remain a progressive financial hub in the GCC. Sharia-first standards What distinguishes the Stablecoin Issuance & Offering (SIO) Module, Al-Natoor said, is its clear guidance for both conventional and Islamic digital assets. He highlighted the inclusion of AAOIFI standards and independent Sharia advisement as a precedent rarely seen in global frameworks. He said the approach could help build deeper market trust and support compliance among faith-based and ethical investors. Investor confidence boost Al-Natoor said Bahrain's framework is not just about regulatory control but a catalyst for innovation. He expects the rules to encourage new digital products and cross-border activities by providing businesses and consumers with safer access to tokenised assets. The framework also introduces full transparency for yield-bearing stablecoins. While conventional issuers may offer passive income from interest, Sharia-compliant issuers must draw returns from activities permitted under Islamic law. Bahrain's fintech play The move comes as Bahrain continues to expand its Islamic fintech base, supported by regulations that enable services such as crypto-asset platforms and buy-now-pay-later solutions. Al-Natoor noted that while challenges remain, including cybersecurity and supervision, the framework's alignment with global reporting standards could help attract institutional partnerships. The module requires stablecoin issuers to prepare financial statements under either International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or AAOIFI, depending on their compliance route. 'This framework not only underscores Bahrain's leadership ambitions but may also bring clarity and confidence for stablecoin investors and issuers,' Al-Natoor said.

Bahrain Launches New Guide to Recover Crime-Linked Funds and Enforce Seizure Orders

Bahrain's Attorny General, Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, has issued a new directive to enhance the recovery of assets and enforcement of confiscation orders related to criminal activities. Decision No. (47) of 2025 introduces a detailed guideline for handling requests to recover criminal proceeds and enforce court-ordered asset seizures. This guide was developed in line with international standards, including the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and in close cooperation with key national entities such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Ministry of Justice, Central Bank of Bahrain, and with approval from the Supreme Judicial Council. The guideline outlines clear legal and procedural steps for reclaiming money and assets gained through criminal acts—whether at the request of Bahraini authorities or from international partners. It also explains how to implement confiscation rulings issued by both local and foreign courts. It highlights the roles of each government body involved in such procedures. Improving Transparency and Cooperation Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Public Prosecutor Wael Rashid Buallay emphasized that the new guide is designed to standardize procedures, promote transparency, and ensure that recovered or seized funds are handled properly. It also aims to protect the rights of innocent third parties and ensures that all steps are taken under proper legal safeguards. He noted that the initiative reflects Bahrain's strong commitment to fighting financial crimes, especially money laundering and terrorism financing, and its belief in the importance of robust international cooperation. A Unified National Effort Buallay praised the efforts of all agencies involved, including the National Policy Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, for their role in crafting a practical and thorough document. The guide is seen as a key step in Bahrain's continuing efforts to track and recover illicit gains and prevent criminals from using cross-border tactics to hide or benefit from illegal wealth.

Crypto Clarity

TDT | Manama Gulf's First Rulebook for Digital Money Bahrain has become the first country in the Gulf to issue clear rules for a new kind of digital money known as stablecoins, a move that puts it ahead of neighbours in safely managing digital finance. Stablecoins are a form of online currency tied to regular money like the US dollar or Bahraini dinar. People use them for quick, low-cost transactions, including sending money across borders. But without proper rules, these digital coins can be risky. To fix that, the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has launched a new rulebook that tells companies how they can issue these coins safely. The rules say each digital coin must be backed by real money held in reserve and must be easy to convert back to cash. Companies must also be audited and follow strong safety and transparency standards. 'This milestone reflects the pioneering role the CBB continues to play,' said Mohamed Al Sadek, Executive Director of Market Development. The rules do not allow risky types of digital coins, such as those that rely on complicated software tricks to stay stable, one of which infamously crashed in 2022. While the UAE regulates some digital money, Bahrain is the first to publish a full guide for companies wanting to offer them in different currencies.
