Netflix South India's official X (formerly Twitter) handle announced that Thammudu will be released on the OTT platform on 1 August. It will be available in the original Telugu language, along with Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Making the announcement, Netflix wrote, 'Thana lakshyanni, akkani thirigi thevadaniki ee thammudu is on a mission! (This brother is on a mission to reach his goal and bring back his sister) Watch Thammudu on Netflix, out 1 August in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. #ThammuduOnNetflix.'
People who watched Thammudu in theatres cracked jokes about how it needn't be watched on OTT, while few others seemed excited about the release. One X user wrote, 'If you missed it in Theatre. Please miss it on Netflix too.' Another commented, 'August 1st – cancel your plans. Mee thammudu vachestunnadu! (Your brother is coming)' Many commented under the post wondering why the film wasn't being released in Hindi, writing, 'Hindi release?' One joked, 'If it's not released in Hindi some fans do dub in Hindi.'
About Thammudu
Thammudu stars Nithiin as Jai and Laya as his sister Kiranmayi. Sapthami Gowda and Varsha Bollamma also play lead roles in the film. Thammudu tells the story of a brother who goes to extreme lengths to safeguard his sister from harm. A deadly factory blast in Vizag claims several lives, and the owner, played by Saurabh Sachdeva, tries to pressure officials to ensure he isn't blamed for it. When Kiranmayi, an honest officer, finds herself being hunted, Jai steps in to save the day. According to Sacnilk, Thammudu collected ₹5.25 crore in India and ₹7.3 crore worldwide.

Satya Dev, Anandhi-starrer ‘Arabia Kadali' to premiere on Prime Video in August
Arabia Kadali, a Telugu-language survival drama starring Satya Dev and Anandhi, is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 8. Directed by V. V. AMMA election: Raveendran withdraws nomination to president's post, Jagadeesh may follow suit
Actor Jagadeesh is likely to withdraw his nomination to the post of president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). Jagadeesh said that he would withdraw the nomination with the concurrence of actors, including Mohanlal, Mammootty and Suresh Gopi, whom he had consulted before filing the nomination. The actor's move to withdraw the nomination emerged amidst speculations that a woman candidate may be considered for the post. Actor Swetha Menon is among the six who had filed nominations to the post of the president. Besides Jagadeesh and Swetha Menon, the others who had filed nominations to the post are Raveendran, Devan, Anoop Chandran, and Jayan Cherthala. Raveendran withdrew his nomination on Tuesday while stating that he would contest for the post of general secretary. Mr. Raveendran welcomed the reports that a woman could be considered as the president of the actors' body. Polls on August 15 The last date for withdrawal of nominations is July 31 and the election is scheduled on August 15. The association continued to remain a divided house on whether the members accused of misconduct in the K. Hema Committee report (on the issues faced by women in the Malayalam film industry) or cases registered in its wake should contest the election. The issue came to the fore after Baburaj, who had faced allegations of sexual assault, filed his nomination to the post of the general secretary. While actors such as Sarayu and Ansiba had stated that there was nothing wrong in the accused members contesting, others, including Mallika Sukumaran, Maala Parvathi, Anoop Chandran have opposed it, stating that it may set a wrong precedent as actors had stayed away on earlier occasions after facing such allegations.
