JPNIN to focus on community safety at border areas in four states
JPNIN director-general Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud said earlier Ministry of National Unity secretary-general , Datuk Ruji Ubi, had attended the Cabinet Committee on Combating Drug Abuse (MPJKMD) Coordinating Council Meeting.
'In the meeting, he recommended that the Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) and Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) be activated at the community level, especially those near the national border to combat drug abuse.
'This is because the existence of active KRTs and SRSs has proven to be able to play an effective role in maintaining community safety and security,' he told Bernama today.
Che Roslan said there were two KRTs, namely Sungai Kantan Kajang KRT, Selangor and Chenulang KRT, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, which have been conducting patrols and controls every day to ensure neighbourhood safety in residential areas.
'The effectiveness of SRS will be further enhanced through the MySRS application which allows the department to monitor the implementation of SRS in real time.
'In addition, the role of SRS in the community and further intensifying the implementation of the '1 Family 1 SRS Member' Campaign at all levels, especially at the KRT level, to assist the government in addressing social ills and security issues in neighbourhoods, thus increasing the level of security among the community,' he said.

He added that the index measures key aspects such as inter-ethnic relations, perceptions of national identity, and social beliefs, serving as a crucial reference in formulating the ministry's policies and initiatives to strengthen national unity. 'Since 2023, various initiatives have been implemented, clearly showing that building the Negara Bangsa (Nation-State) is the ultimate goal of efforts to enhance unity,' he said. Aaron added that the Negara Bangsa (Nation-State) has now been designated as one of the main thrusts under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). In this regard, the ministry is conducting engagement sessions nationwide to develop the Negara Bangsa (Nation-State) Action Plan, which will culminate in the Negara Bangsa (Nation-State) Conference this October.

'There may be some (victims) who do not even realised they are being abused because the abuse is not just physical, it is emotional. 'Sometimes the perpetrators also use 'reverse psychology',' Noraini said, Bernama reported. 'Studies also found that most abuse is committed by the people closest to the victim or among family members,' she told reporters after launching the Women's Wellbeing Advocacy Programme @ Domestic Violence (Aku Wanita @ KRT) here yesterday. Noraini said that from January to April, 104 cases of domestic violence were recorded in Terengganu. Although the number was a decrease compared to 130 cases recorded during the same period last year, the figure was still worrying, she added. The ministry has started various initiatives to help reduce the number of domestic violence cases, including through the Aku Wanita @ KRT Programme. Through the programme, issues related to domestic violence will be discussed in depth with experts and survivors who will share how they escaped and recovered from abusive relationships. 'In addition, a psychological intervention session called 'K-Chat' has also been introduced through this programme.' The session is a group intervention between survivors with trained counsellors and facilitators to help participants understand and deal with issues that have befallen them due to the abuse, she added.
