Brad Pitt's ‘biggest regret' revealed after settling ‘toxic' Angelina Jolie divorce: report
The F1 star, who recently opened up about life's 'struggles' during the latest episode of Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, wants to move forward and put the past behind him.
'The divorce is something that had been controlling his life for so many years,' a source told Us Weekly of his split from the Maleficent star. 'He loved her and he knows he made mistakes.'
'It was such a divisive, toxic situation,' the insider added of their divorce that took eight years to finalise, per Page Six.
Pitt and Jolie started dating in 2004. They tied the knot 10 years later, but the marriage only lasted two years. Throughout their 12-year romance, they expanded their family and now share six children together: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
Following the split, however, Pitt's relationship with his kids became strained as he and the Girl, Interrupted actress spent years fighting over custody.
The events surrounding their split — like the 2016 plane incident and his battle with alcoholism — 'turned the kids against him.' However, Pitt 'doesn't blame [Jolie] for everything,' the insider said.
Pitt also hopes to make things right with his kids. His 'biggest regret is he can't repair this,' the source revealed. 'The case is over but there are no winners.'
'To have that behind him is a relief. But on the other hand, it's been hard for him because he doesn't have a great relationship with his kids.'
Since the split, Pitt, 61, has been working on his sobriety and it has reportedly changed his perspective on life.
'Ever since he stopped drinking, everything has changed,' the insider said.
During a June appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Pitt told listeners that he went to AA meetings while 'pretty much on [his] knees' and needing to 'wake the f**k up.'
The Golden Globe winner recalled, 'I was trying anything and everything, anything anyone threw at me. … It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting.'
However, Jolie, 50, 'is still not in a place where she is going to forgive him or ever will,' the insider told Us Weekly in their report published on Thursday.
The insider explained that Pitt, who is now in a serious relationship with Ines de Ramon, is 'relieved that this [divorce] is over.' Still, 'the lasting impact is something he's going to live with forever.'
A rep for Pitt did not immediately respond to Page Six 's request for comment.

'Aussie' John Symond and Amber McDonald MORE: Jennifer Aniston's unexpected $45m life exposed You won't find any details of 'Aussie' John Symond and his ex-wife Amber McDonald's divorce settlement, just reports of the broken-hearted billionaire founder of Aussie Home Loans deciding to spend more time at his $22.4m retreat, Roc et Mer, on the Mediterranean at Eze-sur-Mer in the south of France. The couple split in December, 2023, after an eight-year marriage, with Symond putting his Point Piper waterfront, Wingadal, on the market. There were reports he'd received 'multiple offers above $200m' but he's still holding out for his dream price of $240m. Amber, meanwhile, is slumming it in Denis Savill's Paddington art gallery, which she bought for $5.3m in 2021 and has since converted into a home. 5. But then he was bedazzled by his Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski — the star reportedly didn't speak to Edwards for 17 years after their second divorce. Hoges married Kozlowski, 20 years his junior, in 1990 and they had a son, Chance. But there was no second chance for their marriage, with the couple divorcing in 2014 after 23 years of marriage. She received a lump sum of $6.25m and was able to live in their Venice Beach home until 2018. Now she reportedly owns several of her own properties there. 9. Alan Bond and Eileen Bond Last week's death of Eileen Bond, affectionately known as 'Red', brought to mind her 1992 divorce from controversial businessman Alan Bond after 37 years of marriage and four children. The terms were never made public. He went bankrupt in 1992 with debts totalling $1.8bn, but a report in 1993 described the Bond family as 'seriously rich', with gross assets of $24m in residential property, $15m in rural and commercial property, $20m in business assets and $21m in personal assets. Much of this was hidden in a network of trusts and trustee companies, and Eileen Bond sold one of their properties, a mansion in Perth's Peppermint Grove, in 1995. In August 2020, it reportedly sold for $27.5m. Alan Bond died in 2015. 10. Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore The New York-born but Aussie-raised actor Mel Gibson is famous for his roles in Mad Max and Lethal Weapon, but perhaps also for losing $617m — half of his estimated $1.2bn fortune — in his divorce from his wife of 31 years, Robyn Moore. It was believed to be the biggest celebrity divorce payout in Hollywood history. Getting a prenup wasn't something he considered when he met his dental nurse wife in the late 1970s, when they were both tenants in a house in Adelaide. They had seven kids together. Gibson is known to have invested heavily in real estate, including an island in Fiji he bought for $15m in 2005. People reported reports that Moore was also entitled to half of any film residuals Gibson receives for the rest of his life. Truth behind Hollywood's most tragic stars
Marilyn Monroe. Jayne Mansfield. Anna Nicole Smith. Hollywood has a long and sad history of churning out blonde bombshells who live fast and die young. Until recently, Mariska Hargitay had spent her whole life trying to distance herself from one of those famous sex symbols: her mother, Jayne Mansfield. Playing detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for more than 26 years, Hargitay has forged a career breaking down stereotypes about sex and sexuality on screen, not playing up to them. 'I just wanted my mum to be like the other mums!' Hargitay told Vanity Fair ahead of the release of her new documentary My Mum Jayne. 'Like, 'Why are you always in a bathing suit? Why so much breast?' I just wanted a maternal mother image. I was embarrassed by the choices that she made.' One of the most famous images of Mansfield was taken at a 1957 dinner while seated next to Sophia Loren. As the blonde starlet's cleavage threatened to escape from her dress, Loren was snapped giving Mansfield some serious side-eye. Hargitay hated the iconic shot, explaining in her doco: 'To see another woman look at your mum like that was excruciating for me as a little girl.' In My Mum Jayne, the actor shares rare archival footage and interviews her older siblings to get better insight into the woman behind the myth, painting a picture of a talented musician who could speak multiple languages. 'Her career made me want to do it differently, but I want to understand her now,' Hargitay explains in her documentary, as she faces the truth about her own paternity and her mother's death in 1967. Like Monroe before her, Mansfield was eager to be taken seriously as an actor and grew frustrated by the voluptuous, sexed-up image that had made her a household name. And like Monroe, Mansfield died young and in terribly tragic circumstances. Five years after Monroe's overdose, Mansfield, 34, was killed instantly when the car she was travelling in slammed into the trailer of a truck. Hargitay, who was in the backseat with her two brothers, survived the accident. Before her death, Mansfield admitted that Monroe had been an inspiration to herself and other aspiring actors such as Mamie Van Doren. 'I've always thought, since I was a little girl, that she was the most beautiful woman in the world,' Mansfield said. 'You know, I really don't look like her at all. You can take practically any fairly shaped girl, bleach her hair, wet her lips, put her into a tight dress and have her walk a little wiggly and – well, we all look a little alike.' The archetype blonde bombshell, Monroe inspired Elton John's song 'Candle In The Wind' and an Andy Warhol pop art series, as well as movies and TV shows. For Michelle Williams (who was Oscar-nominated for playing Monroe in the 2011 film My Week With Marilyn), the iconic star had a childlike vulnerability that made you want to take care of her. And to prepare for playing the much-copied Monroe, Williams devoured countless biographies. As soon as you're done with one book, you can pick up another, she told Vogue. Everything I could get my hands on. Footage, clips. I mean honestly, I did feel a tremendous amount of responsibility to the memory of somebody and the way that the person lives on in the world and in the people that admire them. Ana de Armas also earned an Oscar nod for her confronting portrayal of the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star in the 2022 Netflix film Blonde. She was living in a nightmare, de Armas said of Monroe's sexy image, during an interview at the Venice Film Festival. This character was like a prison for her, de Armas said in a later interview. She was the most famous and desired woman in the world. At the same time, she was completely unseen for who she was. She felt like she couldn't show herself to people because that's not what they wanted from her. And she learned that very quickly. I could not imagine something worse to happen to someone, not to be able to be yourself. Art sadly imitated life for one of Monroe's most famous imitators, Nicole Smith. The Texan Playboy playmate made no secret of her Monroe obsession, telling Extra: The way she talked, so poised, so beautiful, so sad. She was all around me. Smith even lived in Monroe's house for a time and said she'd seen her ghost wandering the halls. According to Smith's limo driver Todd Bernstein, Smith told him she would have liked to die like Marilyn, young and beautiful. And in a sad twist of fate, she did, dying in 2007 from an accidental overdose. She was 39. Jessica Simpson flaunts massive weight loss in bikini
Jessica Simpson appears to be showing estranged husband Eric Johnson what he's missing. The newly-single singer rocked a fiery red bikini for a mirror selfie shared via her Instagram Stories on Friday. Simpson, who lost nearly 45 kilograms just a few years ago, styled her look with a green button down and white sunglasses as a navy 'USA' hat sat on a nearby bathroom sink. The 44-year-old added Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' song An American Girl as a soundtrack for the image, which was posted on the Fourth of July, Page Six reported. At the time, the 160cm star weighed 53kg and turned to diet pills to get to a staggeringly low 46kg. Her weight then fluctuated over the next 20 years.
