
Is Nvidia Competing With Its GPU Cloud Partners?
Nvidia recently announced two new cloud initiatives. First, the company announced DGX Cloud Lepton, designed to connect artificial intelligence developers with Nvidia's wide network of cloud providers. Second, Nvidia announced a new cloud service, the Industrial AI Cloud, intended to provide AI services to manufacturing companies in Europe. While these moves pit Nvidia against its cloud partners, the larger cloud service providers (CSPs) chose to compete with Nvidia using their in-house developed GPU alternatives. Google has the TPU, Amazon has Trainium, Microsoft has Maia, etc. (Nvidia is a client of Cambrian-AI Research.)
Turn about is fair play, and Nvidia is helping its cloud partners sell AI services that keep their GPUs running at high utilization, maximizing profit, while also helping developers access a broader inventory of rare and expensive GPUs.
Much to the consternation of its cloud partners, Nvidia launched the new DGX Cloud Lepton service at Computex this year, and has already garnered a healthy suite of CSPs to agree to join the service. While Oracle and Google have yet to sign up publicly for Lepton, Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure have done so. They see the benefits of having their clouds accessible and promoted by Nvidia.
The smaller GPU cloud players have also joined the party, including CoreWeave, Crusoe, Firmus, Foxconn, GMI Cloud, Lambda, Yotta Data Services, Nebius, Nscale, Firebird, Fluidstack, Hydra Host, Scaleway, Together AI, Mistral AI, SoftBank Corp. These providers offer both on-demand and long-term GPU access, supporting a wide range of AI development and deployment needs. Other CSPs won't want to miss the train, and will likely join soon.
At the Paris GTC, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced that Nvidia and Deutsche Telekom were building an AI Cloud for European manufacturing companies. The Industrial Cloud will provide access to state-of-the-art AI infrastructure and Nvidia's rich portfolio of software. Support will be available for CAD, CAE, Omniverse, Robotics, and Autonomous Vehicles. The cloud is fully configured to support Nvidia's optimized enterprise AI software portfolio, and should be open for business in early 2026.

The Industrial Cloud will be powered by 10,000 Nvidia GPUs, including the latest DGX B200 systems and RTX PRO servers, making it one of the largest industrial AI deployments in Germany. Think of this as a manufacturing-focussed sovereign data center managed and operated by Deutsche Telekom, ensuring data sovereignty and compliance with European regulations, addressing concerns about dependency on non-European cloud providers. The lack of NVL72 racks tells us that Nvidia expects customers to fine-tune and serve AI inferencing, not create new foundation models.
Users will have access to Nvidia's CUDA-X libraries and workloads accelerated by Nvidia GPUs and Omniverse, supporting a wide range of industrial applications such as simulation, digital twins, robotics, design, engineering, and factory planning.
The cloud will also support applications from leading industrial software providers including Siemens, Ansys, Cadence, and Rescale, enabling advanced manufacturing workflows for companies such as BMW, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, and Schaeffle.
First, it says that Nvidia isn't afraid to compete with its cloud partners in its quest to provide access to state-of-the-art AI infrastructure to its end users. As we noted, the larger CSPs chose to develop competing AI accelerators, so they should not be surprised.
Second, in reality Lepton doesn't compete with CSPs; it provides aggregated access to their massive arrays of Nvidia GPUs, not a cloud that is owned and operated by Nvidia. And the Industrial Cloud is filling a gap left by the CSPs to provide focussed and sovereign resources for the European manufacturing base.
Customers will love it, and so will the ISVs whose software has been optimized to run on Nvidia GPUs.

With organisations like the World Economic Forum (WEF) touting the transformational potential of Agentic AI, banking leaders must focus not only on the technology itself but getting it used effectively. Will AI Agents on balance displace banking jobs, or will they become integral to a new hybrid human-machine operating model? In other words, is it 'game over' for bankers or is this simply the 'endgame'? In the banking sector, where the cost of error is high and regulatory obligations are extensive, finding the answer hinges on more than just technological capability. Instead, it requires a clear understanding of how AI fits into existing systems, how it learns, and most crucially, how it understands the organisation it's deployed in. For AI Agents to be meaningfully integrated into core business operations, they need more than a generalised grasp of the world (what we might call a 'Public World Model'). Agents also require a 'Private World Model', a real-time, contextual understanding of the specific business environment they serve. This Private World Model is what enables AI to move beyond basic task automation and operate with the discretion, safety, and strategic alignment necessary for use in high-stakes settings like risk, compliance, or customer operations. Building it takes more than data. It takes a structured approach that brings business context into every layer of AI deployment. Banks seeking to move from early experimentation to strategic, at-scale adoption should follow these three key principles: For AI Agents to deliver value, they must be embedded into the operating model, not bolted on as isolated tools. That means defining their purpose, boundaries, and how they interact with human teams from the outset. In practice, this requires cross-functional alignment. That means bringing together risk, compliance, technology, and business operations to ensure governance is embedded and responsibilities are clearly allocated. It's about answering the operational questions before the technical ones. For example: What will the agent do? What decisions can it make? How will performance be measured? How will human oversight work? In highly regulated banking environments, this level of discipline is essential. Poorly integrated AI risks duplication, degradation of service quality, or worse, regulatory breaches and reputational harm. Successful AI programmes treat these issues as first-order design considerations, not afterthoughts. The temptation to adopt AI Agents quickly across the enterprise is understandable, but rarely effective. A more sustainable approach begins with well-defined use cases that offer a high return with manageable risk. One clear example is JPMorgan Chase's COiN (Contract Intelligence) platform, which uses AI to review commercial agreements. It reportedly cut error rates by 80% and freed up 360,000 hours of legal review time annually. This isn't a theoretical impact. It's measurable operational efficiency, delivered through structured implementation and ongoing oversight. Banks should look for similarly contained, repeatable tasks that are essential but burdensome. These create ideal environments for AI Agents to demonstrate value while allowing teams to build institutional knowledge and governance muscle before expanding into more complex areas. AI deployment is not a one-off exercise. As business needs change and regulatory frameworks evolve, AI Agents must adapt in parallel. That means embedding feedback loops and performance monitoring from day one. Unlike static software, AI systems learn from data, and that data changes. Ensuring AI Agents remain aligned with business strategy requires structured retraining, robust monitoring, and clearly defined escalation routes when things go wrong. Change management for the human workforce is equally important. As tasks evolve, new skills and new ways of working are needed. Supporting employees through this transition is critical to building trust in AI, ensuring adoption, and maintaining operational integrity. Retail banks must act now to embrace AI Agents before they become the industry standard, rather than a competitive edge. The prize is substantial for those who are first adopters: greater efficiency, faster decision-making, more consistent compliance, and more responsive customer operations. But the route to get there is not through a single piece of technology. It's through a deliberate strategy grounded in business context and operational clarity. By focusing on integration, strategic implementation, and continuous learning, banks can shift from seeing AI as a bolt-on and start treating it as a vital core capability. Rather than triggering 'game over' for bankers, AI's real potential lies in shaping a more agile, resilient and scalable workforce where humans and machines complement one another. Watch: AI-powered robots face off in soccer tournament in China
July 2 (UPI) -- The first ROBO League robot soccer tournament took place in China, pitting AI-powered teams of robot players against one another in 3 vs. 3 matches. The tournament, held Saturday in Beijing, drew a crowd of thousands of curious spectators to watch the robots attempt to score goals using strategies determined by AI. "This is the first fully autonomous AI robot football match in China," Dou Jing, executive director of the tournament organizing committee and deputy general manager of Shangyicheng Technology and Culture Group, told the Global Times. "It represents a combination of technological innovation and industrial application, as well as an important window for bringing robots into public life and real-world scenarios." The tournament ended with the THU Robotics team from Tsinghua University defeating the Mountain Sea team from China Agricultural University team 5-3. The event was held in the lead-up to the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Sports Games, which will be held in Beijing in August.

Verizon and AT&T, on the other hand, are more associated with adjectives like 'conservative,' 'defensive' or even 'boring.' The S&P 500, for example, currently yields a relatively meager 1.27%. AT&T, on the other hand, pays a hefty 3.84% dividend yield, while Verizon pays a whopping 6.26%. That means even if Verizon stock doesn't go anywhere, you'll earn a return of 6.26% — not to mention that the company has an 18-year track record of raising dividends. If you're looking for stability and income, these characteristics could make either of these stocks worth a look. Looking for a more growth-oriented stock? Maybe AT&T and Verizon aren't quite as stodgy as you might imagine. As 5G has rapidly become essential to the modern world, both AT&T and Verizon are actively expanding their networks. This has tied into the explosive growth of artificial intelligence (AI), as the insatiable demand for AI solutions from both individuals and businesses is driving connectivity, which is the main business of Verizon and AT&T. Even the core wireless divisions of both companies have been performing well, providing some tailwind for the stocks going forward. Although Verizon and AT&T have some things going for them, their stocks are not the right solution for every investor. Your financial objectives, risk tolerance and time horizon should dictate whether or not you should pick up shares in these companies.
