INDYCAR Announces INDY NXT by Firestone Penalties at Barber Motorsports Park

INDYCAR has announced penalties for the driver of the No. 40 Abel/Miller/Vinatieri Motorsports entry, Jack William Miller, ahead of this weekend's event at Barber Motorsports Park.
Following his participation in the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the driver was in violation of the following from the INDY NXT by Firestone rulebook:
Rule 9.3.1.7. Failing to follow the direction of INDYCAR.
Rule 9.3.1.8. Using improper, profane, or disparaging language or gestures in reference to any Official, Members or anyone else or improper, profane or disparaging language or gestures in reference to, concerning or connected in any way with INDYCAR, the INDY NXT by Firestone, NTT INDYCAR SERIES, or any Event and could result in additional penalties as determined by INDYCAR.
According to Rule 9.2.3., the penalty is considered a Non-Race Procedure Penalty. Miller has been fined $5,000 and placed on probation for the remainder of the 2025 season. At the INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix of Alabama event, the No. 40 will lose one set of tires for the weekend, will not be permitted to qualify and will start Sunday's race at the rear of the field.

A massive IndyCar NXT crash took place at the event in Mid-Ohio on Sunday morning. The horrible crash happened at the Indy NXT Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio on Sunday. Advertisement Sebastian Murray and Ricardo Escotto were involved in the huge crash, with Murray going airborne after hitting a barrier. The accident happened after Escotto's Andretti Cape Motorsport's car's front left wheel made contact with Murray's left back wheel. It sent both of them into the barrier. Both drivers were able to emerge from their vehicles OK, though they appeared to be pretty shaken up. IndyCar had more: Riding against the barrier, Murray's car than began to lift and flipped before a barrage of dirt and carbon fibre were dragged onto the track by his car. Both drivers stepped out of the car and seemed on initial look to be ok but Escotto was visibly shaken by the incident and could be seen perched on the grass by his stricken blue and black Indy NXT vehicle. The two drivers were involved in a fight just outside the top ten and were sat in 11th and 12th. Video of the crash has gone viral. Our thoughts are with both drivers and their friends and family members following this scary crash. It will likely be one that they live with for a while out on the track. Two drivers - Sebastian Murray and Ricardo Escotto - were involved in the huge crash, which saw one of the drivers going airborne. Escotto's front left wheel made contact with Murray's back left wheel heading into a turn. It sent both of them into the barrier. Murray's car lifted into the air and went airborne, flipping. A ton of dirt and debris filled the air.
