Conway rides his luck to lead New Zealand to comfy T20 win over Zimbabwe
Conway was dropped on 1, should have been run out on 34, survived a strong lbw appeal and miscued shots all over Harare Sports Club that happened to land safely.
He ended up hitting the winnings runs, pulling Trevor Gwandu to the midwicket boundary for New Zealand to win with 6.1 overs to spare.
Zimbabwe was made to bat first and scored only 120-7, and New Zealand replied with 122-2, Conway top-scoring with an unbeaten 59 off 40 balls, his first T20 half-century in 17 months.
'Got a bit lucky early and fortunate I got through that period,' Conway said. 'It was nice to spend some time in the middle.'
New Zealand has two wins from two games in the T20 tri-series with South Africa.
Zimbabwe opening batters Wessly Madhevere and Brian Bennett greeted the New Zealanders aggressively. But the run rate was falling from eight an over even before Bennett, 20 off 19, gave Henry his first wicket at the end of the powerplay.
New Zealand could count on three spinners to Zimbabwe's one, and Mitchell Santner and Rachin Ravindra put the brakes on the home side. The only other decent scorer was Madhevere, who backed away to hit Adam Milne to the off side and lost his off stump after 36 off 32 balls.
Henry took 3-26 and Santner and Ravindra a wicket each.
When New Zealand batted, Blessing Muzarabani dropped Conway in the first over but made up for it by dismissing Tim Seifert in the second.
As Conway rode his luck, Ravindra was on the charge with three consecutive boundaries off Gwandu and a six over deep backward point. His 30 off 19 lifted New Zealand more than halfway to the target.
Conway didn't look comfortable until he was in the high 30s, but he and Daryl Mitchell, 26 off 19, steered New Zealand home by a wide margin.
Zimbabwe plays South Africa next on Sunday.

Tinubu receives Nigerian women's team after Africa Cup victory
The Nigerian women's national football team touched down in the capital Monday for an audience with the president, fresh off their weekend Africa Cup championship victory over Morocco. The Super Falcons, winners of Saturday's Women's Africa Cup of Nations final, were greeted on the tarmac at Abuja's international airport by traditional dancers, drummers and a swarm of journalists and government officials. They then departed in a convoy escorted by security to meet with President Bola Tinubu. The women brought with them their 10th WAFCON trophy, the culmination of years of dominance at the continent level despite struggles at home over late payments and pay disparities with the men's team. To grab the gold, the Super Falcons mounted a stunning comeback from a seemingly fatal 2-0 deficit, winning 3-2 over their WAFCON hosts in Rabat. Ahead of the match it was announced that Tinubu had personally approved players' tournament bonus payments. The seemingly routine measure has in the past been anything but, with the Super Falcons butting heads with the Nigeria Football Federation over unpaid bonuses after their 2023 Women's World Cup run. Fans in recent years have also called for the team to be paid the same as the men's team, the Super Eagles. At the presidential villa, Tinubu announced that players would be given a three bedroom apartment as well as a $100,000 cash bonus. "We could not be prouder," the president said, adding that he "didn't want to watch the match" at one point because of the stress. - Problems 'drowned' by victory - Despite the challenges, the team has made an appearance in every women's World Cup since the tournament debuted in 1991. Costello van Steenis: Johnny Eblen 'behaving like a jealous ex-girlfriend' after PFL loss
Costello Van Steenis shocked the MMA world last week, pulling off an incredible, buzzer-beating win over one of the most coveted talents outside the UFC – and he assures it wasn't a matter of luck. Van Steenis (17-3) put previously undefeated PFL middleweight champion Johnny Eblen (16-1) to sleep with just nine seconds left in their championship main event bout for PFL Africa in Cape Town, South Africa. The finish was a must for Van Steenis, as entering Round 5, Eblen was up 39-37 on two judges' scorecards, with a third having the fight tied 38-38. Winning the final round would have resulted in a majority decision win for Eblen. After the bout, in a series of posts on X, Eblen called for an immediate rematch and said that Van Steenis isn't a "better fighter," but a "lucky one." The Spanish-Dutch fighter couldn't disagree more with Eblen. "I think he's behaving like a jealous ex-girlfriend," Van Steenis told Hablemos MMA in Spanish. "What do you mean luck? Luck that he was fading? He should've trained more. Luck that I put him to sleep? Man, then what great luck you've had in your previous 16 fights. "Luck is something you build in the gym. Van Steenis isn't opposed to the idea, but he would like to get a more exciting matchup, as he's not fond of Eblen's fighting style. Van Steenis sees the winner of the 2025 PFL middleweight world tournament – which is set to be Fabian Edwards vs. Dalton Rosta at 2025 PFL World Tournament 10: Finals on Aug. 21 – as the perfect dance partner for his first title defense. "Look, I'm not going to say no, but I do want to dance with another rival so we can have more action in this promotion," Van Steenis said. "He won a lot of fights by decision, and many of them are boring. I'd like to create a little more fire in this promotion. Fabian (Edwards) is going to fight Dalton Rosta in a few weeks, and I'd like to fight against the winner of that fight in December. That would be great – and if possible, in Spain."
