Sofia, a 24-year-old hair researcher from London, isn't just another influencer flogging the latest fad. She's lived it.
At just 21, she started losing her hair, not just a few strands here and there, but actual bald patches that left her confidence in tatters.
'I'd wake up and see more scalp than hair,' she revealed.
'Then I spotted actual bald patches. I felt like I was disappearing.'
Eventually diagnosed with androgenic alopecia, a genetic condition that causes thinning hair, usually in older women, Sofia was told there was no cure, only ongoing treatments that might help slow it down.
But instead of giving up, she threw herself into studying hair biology and researching every treatment under the sun.
Now, three years on, her glossy, thick locks are proof her efforts paid off.
The hair expert has now put fans onto a humble bottle of L'Oréal Elvive Hair Growth Serum with Aminexil, currently available at Asos for just £8.49.
At Boots, this would set you back £17.
She claims this product has "changed the game".
Sophia said: 'It's got the same powerhouse ingredient as the £49 Kerastase Genesis, aminexil, which helps loosen collagen around the hair follicle and boosts growth.'

Both Elvive and Kerastase are owned by beauty giant L'Oréal, and according to Sofia, they share more than just a parent company.
She points out that the product also has other key ingredients you'd find in Kerastase, like caffeine and niacinamide, which are both great for stimulating growth and improving scalp health.
But here's where it gets really interesting, L'Oréal reportedly disclosed the concentration of aminexil in Elvive's serum as 1.5%.
In contrast, they've kept quiet about the concentration in the pricier Kerastase Genesis.
Sophia warns this is a red flag and that if Elvive is cheaper and tells you exactly what you're getting, then there's no need to fork out on a £49 "just for a fancy bottle".
Since using the key ingredient in this product her hair has gone from 'lifeless and patchy' to 'thicker, stronger and full of volume.
And judging by the hundreds of glowing comments on her videos, not to mention her jaw-dropping before and after pics, her followers are lapping it up.
Sophia said "you're not missing out on results", just on "the expensive packaging.'

Hair re-growth FAQs
Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous.
How long does it take for hair to grow back?
Hair grows, on average, half an inch a month. You cannot speed this up.
Do rosemary oil and scalp massages work?
Oils do not promote hair growth. In terms of rosemary oil, the current trend stems from one small study carried out on 50 men in 2015. No women were involved, and the study compared the effects of 2 per cent minoxidil to Rosemary oil. 2 per cent minoxidil doesn't do much for
male pattern hair loss anyway, so the results were not very impressive. Oils do serve a purpose in conditioning hair treatments though. They help add shine and smooth the hair cuticle to lock-in moisture and improve combability. Scalp massages alone won't cure hair loss, but it can help relax you, aid in lymphatic drainage, exfoliate and help topicals penetrate.
Are there any products or foods/vitamins you recommend someone using or eating to help with hair regrowth?
To support healthy hair regrowth, if you are experiencing hair thinning we'd recommend our Density Preserving Scalp Drops clinically proven to help slow hair loss with continued daily use within three months.
Telogen effluvium (hair shedding) due to nutritional deficiencies can often be simply treated with changes to your diet, and nutritional supplements such as our specially formulated Density Healthy Hair Complex and Density Amino Acid Booster.
Iron and Ferritin (stored iron) in red meat, dried apricots and dark, leafy greens. Vitamin B12 in animal products and fortified plant-based foods. Protein from oily fish, lean meat, cottage cheese, tofu, nuts, chickpeas, and beans.
However, there may be an underlying cause for their hair loss and rather than this being masked by using an off-the-shelf product, they should be encouraged to seek the advice of a specialist such as a Trichologist.

Beauty Heroes: La Bonne Brosse
Ten years ago two best friends from Paris, Flore des Robert and Pauline Laurent, decided to take on a challenging task: to bring a new high-performance hairbrush to the beauty market. The idea came when des Robert, a beauty specialist for more than 20 years who has worked for companies including L'Oréal and Estée Lauder, suffered hair loss after her daughter was born. Desperate to find a solution, she consulted hairdresser after hairdresser, all of whom asked the same question: do you have a good-quality hair brush? Despite the importance of a good brush for hair growth, des Robert was uninspired by the products on offer. So she took her idea for a new kind of hair brush to her friend Laurent, whom she'd known since their schooldays and who has worked across brands such as Coty and Dries Van Noten. Their goal was to make a heritage beauty product 'that people would buy and keep for their whole lives', says des Robert. During two years of development, the pair 'consulted dermatologists, acupuncturists and hair stylists to really understand how a good hairbrush could support scalp health and hair quality'. All their research was channelled into their product, La Bonne Brosse, which was designed to be stylish, sustainable and above all, functional. The brush is a labour of love. Each is handmade across six or seven stations in a French workshop that has been in operation for more than a century. The shell and handles are made from cellulose acetate, which is a biodegradable material, 70 per cent of which comes from plant fibres, and which is made without petrochemicals; the hypoallergenic bristles are made from boar bristles, nylon fibres, or both. Part of the efficacy of the design is the arrangement of the bristles on the cushion, in little groups of varying heights. It's 'a little bit like a flower blooming', Laurent says. 'Every fibre has a different size so they can catch every hair one by one.' This makes it an effective detangler and gentle on hair. The bristles help to massage the scalp too, stimulating blood flow and exfoliating the skin, which encourages hair growth and prevents blocked hair follicles. Plus, boar bristles can work to distribute natural oils along the hair shaft which can protect hairs from breakage. The brush looks as good as it feels, with a chic, ergonomically twisted handle. It is available in a range of sizes and 19 aesthetically pleasing colours, such as pale pink, cream and purple (priced from £88 to £142). The actress Emma Stone used a La Bonne Brosse ahead of the Oscars, and with recent collaborations with brands including the high-end children's store Bonpoint and the skincare brand Augustinus Bader, it appears this is only the beginning for the haircare company. Girl, 9, who died in wave pool at chocolate theme park pictured for first time
Sophia Subedi, nine, tragically died after being seen in 'distress' at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania last Thursday. She was described as 'a bright, kind, and loving young girl' A nine-year-old girl who tragically died following an incident in a busy wave pool at a Hershey's chocolate theme park has been pictured for the first time. Sophia Subedi passed away after being seen in "distress" in front of horrified families at The Boardwalk inside Hersheypark in Pennsylvania last Thursday. Lifeguards desperately tried to save the child, who was taken to Milton S. Hershey Medical Centre, but she was later pronounced dead despite the best effort of doctors. Her cause of death is not known yet, as autopsy results have not been released. The Bhutanese Community in Harrisburg (BCH) confirmed Sophia's identity while describing her as "a bright, kind, and loving young girl" who "brought joy and light to everyone who knew her." "Her sudden loss has left our entire community in grief," the BCH said in a statement. Sophia was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 2016 and moved to Harrisburg with her family in 2022. She had just finished third-grade - the American equivalent of Year 4 - and was looking forward to the following school year at North Side Elementary School in Harrisburg. In a GoFundMe created in memory of Sophia, organiser Sri Adhikari said Sophia had "a love for reading, music, and painting" and "often spoke of her dreams to become a teacher." The tribute said: "Those who knew Sophia remember her not just for her brilliance and curiosity, but also for her compassion. "She made friends easily and looked out for others - often the first to offer help, share her snacks, or hold someone's hand when they were scared or sad. She loved dancing in the living room with her little cousins, holding her mom's hand on evening walks, and singing along to her favorite Nepali songs on long car rides." The money raised will be used towards memorial and funeral expenses, the organiser said, adding: "We hope to turn this loss into a legacy - perhaps by supporting children's safety initiatives, advocating for awareness, or creating a small space in her name where kids and families can feel safe, loved, and connected." A funeral and memorial service will be held at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home in Harrisburg on Wednesday, Local 21 News reported. Authorities are working with the park and the local coroner's office to investigate Sophia's death. Hersheypark temporarily closed the wave pool out of respect for the grieving family, but reopened it on Sunday, according to WGAL. After Sophia's death, the CEO of the waterpark, John Lawn, said in a statement: "From the moment that our lifeguard team recognised that a child was in distress, they performed an immediate rescue, followed by continuous, coordinated life-saving efforts by our lifeguards, on-site first responders and medical personnel. "Our hearts break for this child and the child's family. We extend our deepest condolences for their loss. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not release any personal details at this time. "As we grieve alongside our community, we ask for privacy for the family and for our team members who are deeply affected by this loss. We will provide updates as appropriate, and we will continue to work to support everyone involved. In the coming days, we will conduct a thorough internal review and cooperate fully with authorities. The safety of our guests has always been our highest priority." Hersheypark, which is affiliated with the well-known chocolate brand, is the biggest waterpark in Pennsylvania. The attraction features 16 different water rides and sections including a 378,000-gallon wave pool. Some of its most popular rides include the Whitecap Racer, which allows visitors to race on mats.
