Gene Hackman Estate Tries to Block Release of Death Scene Photos
That's according to the Santa Fe New Mexican, which broke the news of the filing on March 13.
The actor and his wife Betsy Arakawa-Hackman were both discovered deceased in their Santa Fe home. Authorities said in a news conference that they believe Hackman's wife died first on or around February 18, and that the 95-year-old actor, who was afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease, passed away about a week later, perhaps without ever having realized that his wife died. He was found in a mud room with his sunglasses and walking cane next to him, authorities said.
The bodies were discovered by a maintenance worker and security guard who then called 911. Police then found the tragic scene.
And it's that body cam footage that the estate doesn't wasn't the public to see, along with any photos of the scene.
Attorney Kurt Sommer is representing the estate and filed the petition seeking to block the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department and Medical Examiner from releasing the photos and video, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.
The publication also reported that Hackman's will was filed in court as well, although it's not clear what it says. Hackman had three kids with his first wife.
The sheriff and medical examiner previously revealed in a news conference that Arakawa-Hackman died of Hantavirus Syndrome, which is contracted after exposure to mouse droppings, and Hackman died of hypertension and cardiovascular issues, with his Alzheimer's Disease contributing to his demise.

3 men who went missing while fishing and swimming in Mississippi River found dead
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Three men who were reported missing while fishing and swimming on a sandbar in the Mississippi River have been found dead near Memphis, Tennessee, authorities said Wednesday. Search and rescue teams with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and other Memphis-area agencies began looking for the men Tuesday evening after they were reported missing near a boat ramp at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, authorities said. The search, which included aircraft, rescue boats and the use of sonar, was suspended Tuesday night because of darkness. It resumed Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said. The first two bodies were recovered about 11 a.m. and the third about 12:45 p.m., the sheriff's office said. A cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner. The three men were described as Hispanic, ranging in age from their 20s to their 50s, the county fire department said. Officials say the area has become increasingly popular for recreation at the state park in Shelby Forest, located north of Memphis. But the river is treacherous, with several hazards present, including strong currents, submerged items, branches and debris. 'There are eddy currents that can pull an Olympic swimmer under. You can be drawn into the channel and find yourself staring at a 24-unit barge that's the size of a skyscraper on its side coming straight at you with no way for the barge crew to have any idea that you are there,' the fire department said on Facebook. Authorities are investigating what happened to the men.

Eaton Fire death toll rises to 31 after human remains found in Altadena
The death toll for January's Eaton Fire has risen after human remains were discovered in Altadena, months after a pair of blazes destroyed homes and businesses in Los Angeles County. The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner said in a news release that a crew responded to reports of human remains being discovered on Monday at the 10 block of La Venezia Court in Altadena. The crew later confirmed the findings as legitimate. As of Tuesday morning, the descendant has not been identified. It's not yet clear if the person was male or female. The medical examiner said it will release the identity of the person after notification of next of kin. The department uses a variety of scientific methods to identify the remains, including the use of dental records and DNA. With the new findings, the death toll for the Eaton Fire rose to 19, bringing the total of deaths from the January fires to 31. As many as 12 people died as a result of the Palisades Fire.
