Yas Waterworld Yas Island welcomes guests to its new expansion on July 1
Miral, Abu Dhabi's leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, announced that the highly anticipated expansion of Yas Waterworld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, officially opens to the public as of July 1.
This monumental phase of the waterpark's development, spanning 13,445sqm, significantly enhances its world-class offerings, introducing a 'Lost City' theme, a continuation of the park's original story 'The Legend of the Lost Pearl', with more than 20 new exhilarating rides, slides and experiences, alongside a new dining experience, packed with splash-filled fun for guests of all ages. With this expansion, Yas Waterworld becomes home to more than 60 rides, slides, and attractions, offering more aquatic adventures than ever before.

Families can now dive into an array of new adventures including Al Mafras, a twisting, desert water slide for kids, featuring smooth turns, exciting slopes, and a fun-filled splash landing, Red Dunes, a twisting, closed aqua tube slide designed for maximum excitement or compete to become the champion of Al Falaj Race, the region's first side-by-side dueling tube raft race, with high-speed drops, sharp twists, and head-to-head action.
The expanded waterpark also features Al Sahel Junior, the region's first mini zero-gravity boomerango, featuring exciting drops, winding slides, and vertical zooms for a splash-filled adventure and young thrill-seekers can take on Dawwama Junior, a scaled-down version of the park's iconic tornado slide.
Guests are invited to navigate the perplexing twists and turns of Mataha Madness or get caught in the swirling excitement of Sadaf Swirl. Dubai to build two bridges to improve City Walk traffic
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority on Sunday announced road improvement plans to improve traffic in the City Walk area of the city. The busy Al Safa Street will be widened to cut down travel time from 12 minutes to three minutes, increasing the number of lanes from three to four and introducing pedestrian walkways. The scope of it will extend from the junction of Al Safa Street with Sheikh Zayed Road to the junction with Al Wasl Street, more than 1.5 kilometres. Two new bridges and tunnels will also be constructed, with a combined length of more than three kilometres, doubling the street's capacity from 6,000 to 12,000 vehicles an hour in both directions. The first bridge is set to serve traffic coming from Al Wasl Street towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Street while the second bridge will accommodate traffic coming from Al Satwa Road towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Street. Improving connectivity 'The project serves a vital district renowned for hosting numerous tourism, cultural, and sporting events, and is home to key landmarks such as City Walk and Coca-Cola Arena,' the authority posted on X. 'It also enhances connectivity with Downtown Dubai and nearby developments along Financial Centre Street, an area inhabited by over one million residents,' Mattar Al Tayer, director general of the RTA, added. It comes as the transport authority works to improve traffic in the emirate at 40 locations over the summer period, with June to September earmarked as the months when workers can make the most progress with road improvement projects. The work will cover 22 major streets, nine school zones, more than five development areas, and several internal roads in the Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2 and Nad Al Sheba. There will also be traffic enhancements at locations such as Jumeirah Village Circle towards Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. Additional improvements are to be made to Al Meydan Street, Al Sa'ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the junction of Al Wasl Street with Al Manara Street.

Business travel in Mena reaches $18 billion in H1 2025
The business travel sector in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) is growing faster than the global average. The market reached $18.1 billion in 2024, while forecasts indicate a 6.1 per cent year-on-year growth into 2025, a study showed. According to research by Tumodo, the UAE-based online business travel platform, the volume of bookings in the region grew by 40 per cent compared to late 2024. The broader Mena market is expected to hit $270.8 billion by 2030, propelled by strong infrastructure development and digital innovation. This indicates a higher demand for technologically advanced travel services and expanding business activity within the region. Notably, April and May were the busiest months in the first half of the year – largely due to the return of business travel after Ramadan. Saudi Arabia was the most travelled destination in the Mena region, accounting for 20 per cent of all travel, followed by the United Kingdom (15 per cent), France and India (10 per cent each). Finally, trips to Oman amounted to 5 per cent of all travel. These numbers are consistent with global trends reflecting stronger economic ties between Mena countries and European and Asian markets. Favourite airlines In terms of airline preferences, regional players came at the top of the charts. Emirates, Turkish Airlines, and Qatar Airways were the most frequently chosen by business travellers. Tumodo also pointed out that, on average, India remains the most affordable route, while the United Kingdom is the most premium destination – both in terms of airfares and accommodation. Dubai remains a major hub in the region, with frequent flights to business capitals like Riyadh, London, and Guangzhou. Tumodo has also seen an increase in usage of additional services throughout 2024 and the start of 2025. Specifically, visa support rose by 15 per cent, ground transfers by 11 per cent, and corporate event bookings by 7.25 per cent – all of which signal a growing demand for full-service travel management. In H1 2025, the average trip duration remained at just two days, yet many travellers began incorporating leisure elements into their itineraries, reflecting the ongoing rise of 'bleisure' travel. Demand for premium accommodation remained strong, with four- and five-star hotels accounting for over 75 per cent of bookings. At the same time, Tumodo 's clients reported a 12 per cent decrease in average airfare costs and only a modest 2 per cent increase in booking value as opposed to an average 10 per cent growth across different platforms. This was possible thanks to advanced platform features such as customisable travel policies, approval workflows, and real-time analytics. Additionally, integrated tools for CO2 emissions tracking and eco-friendly route selection are helping businesses align with the UAE's Environment Vision 2030. 'The 50 per cent year-on-year growth we've seen this year signals a shift from recovery to reinvention,' Stan Klyuy, CCO of Tumodo, stated. 'We're focused on growing throughout the GCC and Europe in the future, as well as improving the platform with more intricate integrations and predictive capabilities'. As global business travel rebounds, industry forecasts project corporate travel spending will surpass $1 trillion in 2025, with the Middle East seeing one of the highest growth rates globally at 6.19 per cent.
