Oluwafemi Oladejo has an NFL strength, a weakness, and a question mark

USA Today15-05-2025
Oluwafemi Oladejo has an NFL strength, a weakness, and a question mark Oluwafemi Oladejo has to know where he needs to develop for the Titans
UCLA's Oluwafemi Oladejo is beginning to carve out a path to the NFL with the Tennessee Titans. Rookie minicamps are starting for various NFL teams. Preseason camp is a little more than two months away. Preseason football is three months away. It will be here before you know it. As Oladejo tries to crack the Tennessee starting lineup, his strengths and his challenges are clear, as Titans Wire notes:
"Oladejo may be raw as an edge rusher but has the size and speed teams look for at the position and flashed both burst and power to turn the corner. He is also physical at the point of attack and should hold up well against the run. Although he is experienced as a linebacker, his coverage recognition skill needs work, especially in man coverage. Oladejo could also continue to add to his repertoire as a pass rusher to give him a full arsenal.
"Because of his athletic profile, positional versatility, and football IQ, Oladejo should be able to come in and compete on special teams on Day 1 while he continues to work with the coaching staff to refine his skills on the edge. Plus, his experience gives him a chance to carve out an early role in sub-packages."
There you have it. It's a clear scouting report from Titans Wire. Oladejo is viewed as a player who is far better in run support than in pass coverage. His pass rush is the work-in-progress component of his skill set, the element which -- if improved -- might enable him to rise on the depth chart and play more live snaps in the NFL.Chipotle|SponsoredDolphins quarterback Tagovailoa hopes buyer will snap up South Florida house for $3 millionHomes.com|SponsoredEffortless Grill Cleaning with SteamSteam cleaning revolutionizes your BBQ. Trey Hendrickson cites T.J. Watt contract in Bengals extension standoff

The Cincinnati Bengals have yet to find a solution to the Trey Hendrickson contract situation. With the 2025 NFL season right around the corner, it's uncertain whether the Bengals will have the veteran coming off back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons. Hendrickson has made it clear to Cincinnati he won't play this season without contract security. At 30 years old and turning 31 in December, he knows an injury could seriously hurt his value in free agency — especially with this likely being his last shot at a big deal. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport was on the NFL Network and shared the latest regarding Hendrickson and where the player stands on an extension with the Bengals. MORE:Bengals' Duke Tobin turns heads with comments on Shemar Stewart's agent 'It's really not just about the overall dollars that the Bengals have offered Trey Hendrickson,' Rapoport said. 'If it was just about the base money, then this would probably be done already. He wants guaranteed money into next year and beyond. That is what a lot of the really good pass rusher contracts have featured. That's what T. J. Watt's contract featured. Not saying that Trey Hendrickson is going to get the contract that T. J. Watt got, but his deal does have guarantees deep into the deal. 'That seems to be where Hendrickson wants, and there's a couple of different ways this could go... They could figure out a way to get this done in a way that all sides are happy, or they could simply not, and Hendrickson could go out, play on the 16 this year, then be a free agent next year and end this whole bandaid-upon-bandaid-upon-bandaid situation.' Cincinnati has Super Bowl aspirations, and with their offensive core locked up for the foreseeable future, the Bengals have run into trouble when it comes to contracts of two key players on defense, Hendrickson and Shemar Stewart. The Bengals are running out of time to sort these situations out or else they could be playing Week 1 without two players who are important to getting to the quarterback.

ESPN unimpressed with Steelers roster changes this offseason in rankings

2025 has been an unprecedented offseason for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh took a hyper-aggressive approach to roster building, including some huge free-agent additions and two blockbuster trades. This is all in an attempt to finally get the Steelers over the hump and actually win a playoff game. ESPN ranked every NFL roster and despite all the moves, they seem underwhelmed by the Steelers. They have Pittsburgh ranked at No. 19 overall. The identified edge rusher as the roster's biggest strength. While we agree that the foursome of T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig and Jack Sawyer are probably the best in the AFC, this group (minus Sawyer) hasn't been great the last three seasons. Pittsburgh only had 40 sacks last season and hasn't had more than 47 since 2021. As far as the biggest weakness, ESPN went with offensive tackle. This is absolutely a fair point. Broderick Jones has moved to left tackle after taking a step back in his second season and new right tackle Troy Fautanu is coming off of a serious knee injury and is a completely unknown. Rams sign QB for reunion after stints in CFL, UFL

The Los Angeles Rams have brought back a familiar face. On Monday, they announced the signing of quarterback Dresser Winn. Winn will be in his third stint with the Rams. He was initially there in 2023 after playing in college at UT-Martin. From there, he spent time in Canada with the Edmonton Elks. Winn came back to the practice squad in L.A. but was waived at roster cuts in 2024. This spring, he played for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL, throwing three touchdowns compared to four interceptions across four starts. MORE: Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders could be subject to a 'second draft' Now, Winn is back with the Rams, who are clearly fond of him. L.A. has Matthew Stafford starting with Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett behind him. It'd be tough for Winn to beat out any of those guys for a spot on the depth chart when the season rolls around. But it's clear he'll have a chance to learn as he goes and potentially get better, which could give Winn a better chance town the road.
